Doctor Devon McBride |

The Doc watches the interaction and mentally shrugs as he heads for the hotel himself. Probably as good a place as any to see about getting the word out about his presence.

GMEDWIN |

The driver says while he puts the feedbag on the horses and lets them take a water break, "Mr. Turpin wanted to keep going on further west but he only had enough money for Dead Mule. Saying I should wait for him and some such things. He didn't have enough money for both himself and his daughter so I had to have them disembark."

Charlie Smallfoot |

"Well, it makes sense that you can't wait about for him to find the money. You have a schedule to keep and a job to do. I won't keep ya any further."
Coming back to the small group, Charlie explains. "Disagreement between Mr. Turpin, the passenger, and the driver. Turpin ran short of cash and wanted him to wait around. Makes me wonder what Turpin's got that he can find more cash in a relatively short time."

Nikomedos |

Niko nods at Charlie's report, regarding the coach without interest or passion. "Sounds clear cut enough. Plenty of folks come out these ways without the funds to pay for it. Hell, I'm halfway there myself." He pats his guns. "Speaking of, what say we get a move on for finding some horses and hunting our man?"

Erik Volker |

Erik listened to Charlie's "report" and Niko's plan to find horses. As the others started off towards the stable, Erik stopped to consider his own options. "Seems I'm kind of stuck here too," he thought as he began walking towards the hotel. When he hears the commotion coming from the stables, he runs over to see what is happening.

Doctor Devon McBride |

Devon runs for the stable yard, heading straight for the gate. His first priority is to get the horses out. FIRE! Devon shouts as he runs down the street, just in case there's anyone that isn't aware.

Nikomedos |

"Oh, Lord," Niko says, staring at the flames and taking in the scene. Then he rushes forward, wanting to help however he can. "Is there a bucket brigade? A fire coach? Anything?" He casts about, knowing that on his own he won't be able to do more than look for anyone in the stables and try to help them out.

GMEDWIN |

Someone you are not familiar with emerges from the stable his clothing aflame screaming incoherently about saving the horses and that there is a fire and that the stable is about to burn.
As you get closer you can hear the 11 horses in the stable crying for help even louder.
The male citizens start to form an impromptu bucket brigade from the well by the Apache Trading Post to the stable.
Do you want to manage the brigade, free the horses or something else?

Doctor Devon McBride |

The doc pulls a bandana from his pocket, dips it into the water trough and ties it around his mouth and nose as he runs into the barn to free horses.

Nikomedos |

Niko is quick to join the bucket brigade. Saving horses is one thing, but running into a raging inferno is another entirely. He's sure proud of the foolhardy bravos who dash in to face the flames, but he's not about to die here.

GMEDWIN |

Sorry for the wait, but I thought Welby was still in the game but I guess, he changed his character for Vampire or something.
Charlie douses himself in water and the Doctor does the same with his handkerchief covering his mouth.
GM Rolls
While Charlie gets to freeing the horses, Devon makes sure that the saddles and tack are free as well.
Nikos, Erik and Lucas help to organize the men into an effective bucket brigade. Slowly but surely the folks get together and are able to fight back the flames. After about 20 minutes you seem to be almost finished and you see six men on horseback.

Nikomedos |

Even as the sounds of trouble start--fast-riding horses and Christopher's shouting--Niko is turning. He doesn't get off the first shot, but by the time the shooting starts his bucket is spilling on the ground. With a practiced draw, the Greek pulls his revolver from its holster and raises it to his shoulder, firing at the lead rider.
Steady Shot 10: 1d20 ⇒ 20 Well, that's a shame.

Erik Volker |

Nikomedos |

Realized I forgot to roll my misfire last time.
Misfire: 1d20 ⇒ 8 Dud
Still standing, Niko swears as his first trigger pull results in nothing more than a metallic click. He pulls back the hammer again and fires two more shots, aimed at the next rider. The first flies past his shoulder, but Niko drops his aim to adjust and the second round blasts into the man's thigh.

Erik Volker |

Erik admires his shot, proud that he was able to help. The start of a smile is quickly replaced by a look of confusion as he feels a burning sensation in his stomach. Looking down, he sees he's been shot and he doubles over in pain. Cursing himself for standing still for too long to admire his shot, he looks for cover and starts to make his way for it.

Doctor Devon McBride |

Devon hears the gunfire. damn, left the rifle in my room, and my derringer ain't likely to do much.
He just continues to work on getting the horses out, and then he'll grab some saddles and tackle on his way out of the barn.

GMEDWIN |

CHarlie, I would need an observation roll, but at the start of round 3 your character would not be able to see him because he is being blocked by the stage depot building. You would then make a shot on the move to get one off on him. To get an angle on him you would need to open the coral.

Charlie Smallfoot |

Oh, okay. If Charlie can spot him, he will open the corral as his action, using the door for cover.
Observation: 1d20 ⇒ 12 (looks like a success)

Lucas Brill |

Lucas gets hit in the chest. He desperately looks around for cover, but he remembers Erik, who couldn't make it in time. So he drops prone. Counts as evading, -4 penalty when someone shoots him.

Nikomedos |

Sorry, couldn't post yesterday.
Niko continues shooting, aiming for whatever rider is closest at this point, other than the one who's lost control of the horse. He seems pretty well dealt with, although not in the way the Greek intended.

Nikomedos |

Sorry for the absence.
Niko staggers back as a gunshot collides with his gun shoulder, and he curses as he feels his arm drop to his side, all the strength gone. He draws another revolver with his other hand, trying for reliability rather than speed, and fires another shot at a rider (Rider 4), hoping to hit despite the pain and using the wrong hand.
Steady Shot 4: 1d20 ⇒ 10 Bah, of course that would hit without penalties...
As the shot goes wide, the Greek tries to move toward cover. Along the way he catches another shot, this one nearly bowling him over as it hits him in the ribs. He collapses to his knees and tries to lunge for something he can take cover behind.

Doctor Devon McBride |

Doc grabs a couple handfuls of tackle and leaves the barn, he'll head for the closest cover from anyone, tossing the tackle in the yard on the way.

GMEDWIN |

Rider 2 Luck 1d20 ⇒ 11 nope.

Combat Over

Charlie Smallfoot |

"Only wish that we could'a stopped them all, sheriff. They probably set the barn afire to keep us distracted while they robbed the bank."
