GMEDWIN |

Two men walk into the hotel/saloon and come in and request rooms.
Mr. Grafton says although still staring at the Faro table, "Really, have the horses been fed and I saw that Goldy the mare had something awry with her hind left hoof. Has she been sawn to? OK Rupert, I'll be back in a few."
The owner says, "I'll up and tell the cook you done enjoyed it."
Rupert taps the cardbox and says, "Anyone else still in?" and then deals out the cards.
The house wins on this turn, which is Rupert and then he says, "Another hand?"

GMEDWIN |

Before Rupert can deal out the cards, the two men who had just checked in to the hotel are standing out on the balcony of the hotel shouting to the entire city.
You hear in an English accent, ""Gentlemen! Tonight, for one
night only in the town of Dead Mule. The fighter of the century
The Manchester Mangler - will give a demonstration of his
pugilistic skills against all comers! $50 to the man who can knock him
out and Remember. tonight only. here in your town!" as he speaks a Big Man will come out in his boxing clothes and stands
beside him. The boxer is a huge man with a bald head and
handlebar mustache.

Erik Volker |

Erik pauses to hear the announcement. "Can't say I'm much of a fighter. I'd rather relax in a bar playing a game and having a drink. So what do you you two do here in town?" Erik says addressing Clyde and Mirko while he places another bet.
Faro($1): 1d20 ⇒ 7 14-7=7/2=4+7=11
Gambling: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Observation: 1d20 ⇒ 12

Darvin Tarroh |

Darvin hears the call from below, and looks thoughtful. "Hmm, Fifty Dollar be a damn sight hard to find. Bet he be a big boy." Then he shrugs and closes his door, and walks back down the stairs. "Who yellin they head off, sayin' they pay to be beaten up?"

GMEDWIN |

A crowd gathers in front of the balcony as Darvin moves towards the bustle.
The well dressed man on the Balcony says, "I am Jeremy Bentham, manager extraodinaire for 'The Manchester Mangler, from England. We are touring the Americas, showing off his skill. Mister, you want to try your hand in the ring against Big Mike?"

Darvin Tarroh |

"Depends, you asking me to pay to beat up your man? Or you just offering a prize when I beat his ass?" Darvin asks, his accent draining from his words as a crowd gathers.

Darvin Tarroh |

Darvin looks at the crowd, and laughs. "I don't know, I wouldn't want my 'vulgar' language to hurt your princesses feelings, he might not fight so well."
Public Speaking: 1d20 ⇒ 10 Plus any bonuses for the other guy being a Brit

Nikomedos |

"I usually don't go in for fistfights, but this I need to see." Niko rises from his seat and follows Darvin and Lucas out the door. "Not every day you watch a Creole brawl an Englishman."

Doctor Devon McBride |

Devon grabs his black bag and follows the others. So Mr. Bentham, what's a good sawbones working ringside worth to you?

GMEDWIN |

Mr. Bentham says, "Well some of these boys may need it. If my man needs help I will definitely call on you. Albeit unlikely that case may be."
It doesn't take too long for a sizable crowd to form up in the street and people lay out a rope on the ground.
Bentham says, "This will be a boxing match using only fists. We will start when you are ready."
Darvin, for the match, I want you to roll me a d6 for initiative and then declare your actions for each round, and I will have Big Mike do the same.

Darvin Tarroh |

1d6 ⇒ 6
I think that gives Darvin initiative? SO shouldn't the other guy declare first? (As asked in Discussion)
Darvin holds up a hand. "I gonna need some wraps, your friend look like he have a solid bone head, yeah." He laughs, and then digs into the boxing supplies for wraps, and begins to wrap his fists up nice and tight. He lets anyone who wants to help since it's hard to do by yourself.

Nikomedos |

"Here, let me help. As a man of the law, I swear not to influence this match," Niko calls out. He moves to assist Darvin, and gives the man a crooked grin and a wink as he nods at Big Mike. "He's a pretty big fellow, eh? You sure you can take him?"

Darvin Tarroh |

Darvin shrugs. "Who know? Had four older brothers, like to whup on me, got good at whuppin' back. Figger, either I win, yeah, and get some money, or I put on a good show, and locals know me better, be good for business, yeah."

GMEDWIN |

Big Mike has his fists wrapped in cloth and gets into the ring moving his fists and you can tell this isn't his first time in a ring.
The point is you should declare actions as or before initiative is rolled. The advantage is if you hit for your actions the other guy takes the hits and cold be adversely affected in his actions where yours wouldn't. YOu most likely won the first round initiative but you should have told me what you planned to do.
Initiative 1d6 ⇒ 2
The two boxers touch fists and the bout has begun.
MIke will attack twice 1d20 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 1 + 3 = 17 and 1d20 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 3 = 5

Darvin Tarroh |

Who's stronger? Darvin or Mike? I need to know that to know what to roll. And yes, I just reread brawling, sorry, missed the part about brawling being different
Attack 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13 +1 if Darvin is stronger?
Attack 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 +1 if Darvin is stronger?
Str doesn't matter this round
Darvin glances a blow off Mike's shoulder, and using the momentum, ducks and slams his other fist into Mike's jaw, using his distraction to slam the other fist again into Mike's stomach!
3 points to Mike, -1 to Mike's rolls
Mike, off balance, completely misses with one punch, but does manage to land a hook!
2 points to Darvin, +1 to Darvin's next roll for the Miss!
Init: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Darvin Tarroh |

Assuming Darvin wins init
Darvin, keeping his feet light, dances and begins attacking...
Attack 1: 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 = 6 +1 if str greater
Attack 2: 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 + 1 = 21 +1 if str greater
Str doesn't matter
Darvin throws an easy to read jab, and let's Mike block it, and then drives his fist straight up into Mike's jaw in a classic haymaker!
3 points to Mike, total 6, and -3 to Mike's rolls!
Mike : 6 (-3 to next rolls)
Darvin : 2

GMEDWIN |

Let me strength does matter and he is stronger than you by 4.
Round 1 Darvin approaches Big Mike and is able to catch him with a quick jab that glances off of Big Mike, Mike counter punches with a left hook hitting Darvin in the chin. To wit Darvin strikes Mike with a jab to the body.
Initiative 1d6 ⇒ 6... tie Darvin 1d6 ⇒ 5, Mike 1d6 ⇒ 6
Round 2 Mike gets initiative
Mike attacks 1d20 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 1 + 3 = 20 twice 1d20 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 1 + 3 = 13
Mike catches himself after the miss and lands a hefty uppercut on Darvin. Darvin reels and his next punch misses and then Mike lands another blow but it is glancing. Darvin then lands a two punch combination with a left cross.
Starting Strength Mike 20, Darvin 16
Mike's Brawling Skill is 3
Initiative Round 3 1d6 ⇒ 6
Round 3 actions:

Darvin Tarroh |

Init: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Attack 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13 Attack 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Ok, I'll let you do all the descriptive stuff. In which case, you might as well just roll all dice going forward, as it leaves me with not much to do other than dice rolls, as above. *shrug* Kind of boring. Whatever.

GMEDWIN |

Your descriptions are good it is just I had to amend it based on the initiative rolls and how the rules describe how the initiative works and the brawling skill's effect on the punches landed as defense. If you win initiative you get the first punch in a round. To be fair Big Mike is pretty close to a professional boxer. Feel free to describe round 3.

GMEDWIN |

Now that I told you that Mike has a brawling skill of 3, you can describe round 4
In round 3, both Darvin and Mike share glancing glows and then he lands a devastating Haymaker, which Darvin somewhat recovers from and lands a solid jab.
Initiative 1d6 ⇒ 3
Mike's attacks 1d20 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 1 + 3 = 18
1d20 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 1 + 3 = 15

Charlie Smallfoot |

Charlie watches the match with an appreciative eye. A fair fight between two men was always worth a watch.
If Charlie spots anyone taking bets, he wants in on the action. $2 on the little guy.

Darvin Tarroh |

I'm trying to figure out where we are, are we in round 3 or round 4? I'm trying to count up how much damage Darvin has vs Mike, is it Mike 7 and Darvin 10 at this point?

Round 5
INIT : Darvin 1d6 ⇒ 5
Mike manages to land another haymaker, making Darvin's head ring, after blocking Darvin's punch. Then Darvin takes a glancing hit to the chin in order to deliver a heavy smash to Mike's chin.
Darvin is weaving on his feet...

Doctor Devon McBride |

Such a waste for man to harm each other needlessly. Though I'd likely have little to do without such actions.
Devon moves to stand at a corner of the ring, holding his bag in front of him. make way, make way, doctor coming through.

Darvin Tarroh |

I think it's over now
Attack 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Darvin blocks the first punch and lands a glancing blow on Mike, and then takes a combination that sends him stumbling back into the ropes, obviously unable to fight anymore. He wheezes. "Damn good fight, mon'ami. You bûcher me good." He laughs hoarsely, and wipes blood from his mouth onto a kerchief. "I tink I sit here for a few minutes, damn yeah."
Mike was at 16 of 20, so that's pretty good

GMEDWIN |

Mike helps Darvin up and says, "That was a good fight, mate." he looks worse for wear and the side bets were tallied.
Bentham says, "The Manchester Mangler wins but the Louisiana Boy did give him a fair run for his money. Mike you got another fight in you, doncha Mate?"
Mike reluctantly nods and the man Marcus knows as Jack Wesley, a man of 32 and owner of the Apache Training Post takes Mike on, seeing Darvin had done a fairly decent thrashing, he says, "That bigun should be beatable at this point." as he strips down to just his trousers.

Darvin Tarroh |

"Probly, but I don't tink it's a $50 fight no more." Darvin says, giving Mike's hand a shake. "Fair be fair, yah?" He steps out of the ring a little shakily, but then begins to unwind the tape on his hands.

Lucas Brill |

S$#@! Where'd my post go!
Lucas claps Darvin on the shoulder. Ya put up a good fight. Let me buy some food to wash down with yer drink. He gets out the money necessary. How much? He then turns towards the new fight. New fighter, huh? $2 on Mike.

Darvin Tarroh |

"Already et, thank ya though." He watches as Wesley is taken down, and shakes his head. The man was obviously pathetic at fighting if he couldn't take Mike after he was softened up by Darvin.

Darvin Tarroh |

Darvin watches the fight, and gives Mike a hat tip, impressed he managed to get another win after the beating they gave each other. Then he gets that bath he had asked for with his room, needing it after the fight. Finally, he heads into his room for the night. My understanding is we got in in the late afternoon yes?
The next day, he'll go look up the bank, wanting to talk to the banker about a loan/shop, figuring the bank probably owns at least one or two store fronts. Most towns have a few that got started and failed. He brings his weapons and tools, along with letters of introduction from his contacts at Colt and Smith & Wesson, and a letter of recommendation from former Brigadier General (Infantry) Daniel Weisiger Adams of the (Also formerly a Senator in Mississipi), and another letter of recommendation from Louisiana State Senator and formerly Brigadier General (Artillary) Louis Hebert (Pronounced A-Bear). He also shows his Discharge papers from the Confederate Ordinance Research Division. Not sure exactly what it was called, can't find the official name for it, Confederate equivalent of the DoD.
