Yasmin |

"It does not feel right, to just walk past and not be able to release the creature from it's misery." Yasmin says as she takes a last look at the creature.

Giovanni follows Yasmin. He takes his mandolin, strumming a soft cord.
There in the darkest/
there in the fartherest/
villian be wary/
so long as you stay true!
He bows before returning it to his back, as he falls in behind Angus.
A determined look upon his young face.

GM Derek W |

As they move away from the cell, Angus, Giovanni, and Yasmin are suddenly overcome by the sensation that they are locked in a cell and about to starve to death. The feeling as as real as anything, but passes after a brief moment. Still, the starvation pangs felt leave the three very weakened.
Nonlethal: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 6) = 8
Each of you takes 8 points of non-lethal damage. This actually knocks Yasmin unconscious, I believe.

Angus the Tenderizer |

Angus staggers mid step as the wave of stomach clenching hunger washes over him. Without even thinking he starts rummaging around for a morsel to eat within his pack, completely oblivious of anything else, including Yasmin collapsing.

Giovanni falls to his knees.
He reaches within himself for the knowledge of what is transpiring.
He mutters a cantrip (detect magic).
spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
if he thinks one of these performances will help, he will perform it
Distraction (Su): At 1st level, a bard can use his performance to counter magic effects that depend on sight. Each round of the Distraction, he makes a Perform (act, comedy, dance, or oratory) skill check. Any creature within 30 feet of the bard (including the bard himself) that is affected by an illusion (pattern) or illusion (figment) magical attack may use the bard’s Perform check result in place of its saving throw if, after the saving throw is rolled, the Perform check result proves to be higher. If a creature within range of the Distraction is already under the effect of a non-instantaneous illusion (pattern) or illusion (figment) magical attack, it gains another saving throw against the effect each round it sees the Distraction, but it must use the bard’s Perform check result for the save. Distraction does not work on effects that don’t allow saves. Distraction relies on visual components.

Giovanni's spell doesn't pick up any auras. He searches his memories, and realizes that his performances will not be of use here.
I can produce a healing henchman if that would help the party out...

Nátulcien Ar-Feiniel |

Nat grabs the limp gnome under her arms and drags her away from the door. When they are a distance away, she checks for vitals, breathing a sigh of relief when she discovers the damage is not deadly.
I have 1 CLW memorized -- seems a waste to use it on nonlethal damage.

GM Derek W |

Right, so you would each heal 1 HP of non-lethal damage per hour. Just 8 hours' rest to get back to full strength!

![]() |

Giovanni winces. Never has such pain entered him!
He remembers some lessons while at college that dealt with such recoveries, but he wasn't too interested in them--at the time!
I may have wanted to pay more attention during the curative spells!
He bows his head at the group. I have trained in different paths.

Yasmin |

If I am correct Yasmin will regain consciousness after 3 hours, right? GM, please warn me when those hours have passed. Until then she will be luggage...

Nátulcien Ar-Feiniel |

I have two potions, and a CLW prepared. If we pool our coins, we could purchase approximately two potions, four scrolls of CLW, or a couple healing kits. Nat doesn't have enough ranks in Heal to make Treat Deadly Wounds a reliable form of healing, so healing kits wouldn't make a lot of sense. Scrolls might be our best bet.
"I have almost enough coins to buy one of those parchments with a spell on it," says Nátulcien, "maybe we can pool our resources?"

Yasmin |

Yasmin also has a scroll of infernal healing and can prepare the spell the next day. I really want to avoid the healing henchman, in my opinion we do not need / want a crutch to lean on.

Nátulcien Ar-Feiniel |

Nat checks Yasmin again, and agrees that she can be safely carried, lending a hand herself.

GM Derek W |

Ok, I'll move things along according to your plan.
The team carries Yasmin back out of the tower very carefully. The process takes about an hour. Giovanni and Darain, being the fastest, hurry into town to buy the needed supplies. They are back another hour later. As they arrive, Yasmin's eyes flutter open as she just regains consciousness.
So Angus, Yasmin, and Gio all healed 2 nonlethal so far. I'll trust you to figure out your GP and purchases and track them on your character sheets.

Angus the Tenderizer |

Tucking the potion away, Angus grunts a thanks before looking around at the sky, trying to gauge what time it is. "Should we continue resting and head back in when we're stronger, or use some of these things and get going now?"

Nátulcien Ar-Feiniel |

Since Angus has real damage as well as non-lethal, I'll use one scroll on him.
Clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Nátulcien Ar-Feiniel |

"I'll use one on the bites Wolf took," says Nat, before reading the scroll in a lilting Elvish voice, and touching Angus's leg where the centipede bit him.

As it is already dark (I think you entered the tower in late afternoon? if not, it should have been!), the party rests and awakens in the morning, ready to continue their explorations. The group returns to their previous place, avoiding the haunted cell. They locate a number of empty cells.
Angus then leads the team westward into antoher hallway that brings the group in front of yet another door. This is the only availble way to proceed.
All non-lethal damage gone, Angus, you can update your profile to relfect full HP.

Yasmin |

"What are you waiting for Angus, open the door for Pete's sake!" says Yasmin, who isn't deterred by her unconsciousness from yesterday at all.
I have some 17gp for group purchases, also changed spells prepared to color spray + infernal healing

Nátulcien Ar-Feiniel |

"Yasmin is a cat, bossy and playful," Nat thinks.

Giovanni quickly grabs Angus' arm back.
Excuse Senior, but I would rather have a good look at the things in here prior to testing them!
I beg your pardon.
Giovanni then searches the door--along with the surroundings--for any traps and its locking mechanism.

GM Derek W |

Angus Str check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Gio checks out the door and it seems safe to him.
Angus tries the knob, but the door won't budge. He grumbles a little and puts his shoulder into it this time, but to no avail. He mutters a few curses, then spits on each palm. He places his hands on the door, and braces with his feet. As he gives the door a mighty shove, his face clenches with effort, and suddenly the door bursts open, revealing the room behind!
There can be little doubt what purpose this chamber once served. The dank room stores an ancient rack, a fanciful brazen bull, an iron maiden, a cauldron, iron chairs with sharp edges and cruel protuberances, and a wooden table upon which sit various implements of torture. A bronze plaque affixed to the western wall depicts a crowing rooster above crossed spears. Underneath the spear, a short phrase is inscribed.
It reads, "Confession Cleanses the Soul — Pain Clarifies the Mind."

Yasmin |

A cat!? Oh well, I can live with that ;-)
Yasmin tries her best to stay cheerful at the sight of the torture chamber "Look Giovanni, there is your picture above these spears"
Yasmin enters the room, looking out for anything that seems to be out of place. She is also trying to determine if their entrance is the only entrance to the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

GM Derek W |

I haven't updated the map yet, so you can't see this room at all. The haunt room is not on the current view, being south of what you can currently see. Maps on my Mac are a pain - will update at work tomorrow.

GM Derek W |

As Angus strides into the room he hears a voice inside his head say:
Angus, please roll a will save.
Meanwhile Giovanni detects a magical aura on top of one of the chairs.

GM Derek W |

First person it "sees" Giovanni didn't enter the room - he stayed at the doorstep and I didn't see Yasmin's action when I posted this. No worries, I'll use a little GM grease to smooth things along...
As Angus considers the words, he feels himself gettign quite weary, but soon psuhes the voice out of his mind thanks to his dwarven heritage!
As he does, a creature suddenly appears. A large black raven sits perched atop one of the torture chairs, and it speaks to the whole group.
"Greetings, fine citizens of our glorious empire! So good to have visitors, though I fear I have no refreshments to offer. I assume you are here for the treasure. Well, I’d be happy to assist, provided that you give me what I require! It has been so long since I was able to ply my trade. I require only that each of you shed your life’s blood in this room — simply take a seat in one of my lovely chairs."
