Heading into the office you are promptly seen in by the mayors assistance. Inside awaist the mayor and sheriff. Hemlock nods a greeting to you as you enter as the mayor motions for you to sit. "Please have a seat if you like. Anything new to report? As you see Sheriff Hemlock has returned and we have more guards to help protect the town."

Chavana Haoul |

Chavana starts... not quite sure how to proceed.
"Well, our week started with Patricide, apparently. The elder Kaijitsu was killed by a half elf, apparently the result of a dalliance with an elf by his wife."
Chavana is not happy explaining this. She's also loathe to use his name, as she is not sure how far to go with the information.
"The half-elf, unfortunately, was working with the goblins. I'm not sure he's entirely sane, but we wanted to go to Thistletop to investigate and, hopefully, bring him to justice."
She thinks a little more.
"The Glassworks was the place of the crime, and there are tunnels underneath. These will need to be guarded, well, with a runner or caller who can get a note off to the rest of the town in the event more goblins surge from below... or worse.
She frowns as she says the next part, beginning to grow pale.
There is an ancient Thasillonian relic under the town. It creates terrible things. If the goblins or the elf are working with someone of great magical skill... we will be in great danger indeed. We need to take at least one of these three legs out, most importantly the elf. The goblins will fall without his support, leaving whatever magic-user to their own devices."
Looking to the others,
"Did I miss anything?"

![]() |

A wry smile crossed Gelgish's rugged face as Chavana asked for any additional input the group might have. Taking his unlit cigar out of his mouth he added, Nah, other than that it was a pretty boring week.

![]() |

The Bear smirks slightly at the joke, then turns serious and adds in his Varasian accent, "We suspect there might be a link between the old priest's dead foster-daughter or Ameiko's brother and the killings as well. You should probably check with Ameiko directly about that. It has also been suggested that we travel to Thistletop to try and end the goblin threat there... Now that the Sheriff is back that might be what we do next."

GM Dak |

The mayor already aware of parts of this looks to Hemlock for his reaction. The sheriff nods his head as he listens. "The half-elf you mention, who commited patricide, that must have been Tsuto. After the scenes he has put on arguing and fighting with his father in the past it's not surprising. The rest though, wow such oddities right under town."
He takes a moment to think and then turns to the mayor "Perhaps, as they mentioned Thistletop would be the next logical step. We don't have anyone in town really equipped to deal with such powerful magics but if we can stop further threats another way that would be just as well. Now that I am back and the added guards we should do fine in the event any future attacks occur."
The mayor nods and looks to you all "You have done so much for this town already and I hate to ask more, but you have proven yourselves adept at handling these situations so if you were up to it we would truelly appreciate the extra assistance. I can provide some funds if needed to help you on your journey."

![]() |

"It would be along walk, so mounts and provisions for the trip would be appreciated."

Chavana Haoul |

"Agreed. Ulrich is right. Provisions and mounts so that we may hasten our journey are more important than monetary rewards right now. The safety of the town should be secured before we start with being rewarded."

GM Dak |

The mayor nods and pulls out some parchment, a quill and ink. She jots a few things down pours some wax on the letter and stamps it with a signet ring on her left hand. Extending it out toward you she says "Here, take this to the Goblin Squash Stables and you will have what you need for the journey. You can stop by the garrison as well to get any simple supplies, equipment or weapons you might need. Just be sure to return what you can."

![]() |

Gelgish nodded in agreement with his companions, and took the parchment the mayor provided and then headed over to the stables with the party. Greeting the stable hand he said, We're gonna need to take a few of these off your hands, while handing him or her the parchment. Finding the best suitable mount he could, Gelgish tested the reins. Looking over to the others he added, You all ready to go, or do you need something else. The dwarf's response made it clear he was ready to head out.

Chavana Haoul |

Chavana will only 'borrow' 20 bolts with proper case. She's not so certain they'll be received, and she doesn't want to be a burden.
Chavana follows Gelgish to the stables, making sure to choose a mild-tempered riding horse.
"I'm used to feet, but this will get us where we need to go much more quickly."

Darpan Bala Manujyestha |

Darpan at first refuses a mount, but then spies a sturdy mule that will make a good pack animal. He will purchase a proper pack saddle and lead and then join the others outside where he will help them move their equipment from their packs to the mules.

Ulrich takes the lead, he easily navigates through the underbrush, stopping occasionally to check snapped twigs, look at the dirt and feel the ground in different places. Going down the trail it comes to what appears to be a wall of nettles and disappears behind it.

Perhaps somewhat embarrassed by his own, ineffectual attempt to ascertain the path to the Thistletop area, Gelgish remained silent through the trip. As they arrived at the dead end, he nodded at Darpan's comment and assisted the monk in his search.

Darpan opens the thistle 'door' revealing a 4 foot high passage through the thistles on the other side. The floor is hard-packed earth, with patches of wiry plants growing stubbornly here and there. The tunnels lead of north, east and west.

Nodding at Chavana, the Bear readies his polearm and looks about as he examines the area around the hidden door. [b]"Let me check"[/dice]

As the hidden door opens, Gelgish unslings his dorn-duerger, the chain slack let out to full length in preparation for any attackers. Looks like we found the goblin's next. Let's move out.
@GM: just a reminder that Gelgish has a chance to auto-detect any traps he comes within 10' of

![]() |

"The way is fairly well traveled, despite the hidden entrance."
With that he beckons the party to follow and heads off to the north.

GM Dak |

Heading north through the tunnel it eventually comes to a T intersection where it branches to the east and west. As you move fourther north the sound of the coast becomes even more apparent.
Just a note while you are in these tunels, all but Gelgish are squeezing due to the height of the tunnels. As such remember to take the appropriate minuses.

![]() |

Grumbling about the low ceiling, the Bear heads west trying to remain alert. He keeps the dwarf closely behind him, as he knows he isn't especially keen at finding traps.
Is that -4 due to squeezing only in tunnels, or even in the bigger room areas?

![]() |

Not often it's nice to be short. This is one of those times. Gelgish couldn't help but let a bit of amusement touch his tone as he spoke. Still, he kept alert for traps as he followed closely behind The Bear heading west.

Chavana Haoul |

Chavana speaks to Gelgish and asks "Gelgy, what other horrors do you think await us here. Any traps?"
Chavana grips her morningstar and shield as she is hunched down, definitely not pleased with how she feels being hunched over.

GM Dak |

Chavana: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

Gelgish: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Ulrich: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Moving further west the tunnel continues into what appears to be a room of sorts, or at least an area that has a little more space and height to it.
The "rooms" do have enough room to not be considered squeezing

![]() |

As the group moves into the "room", Gelgish will conduct a search for anything of interest. While he did so he answered Chavana's query without looking at her. Goblins can be clever in a way. Wouldn't surprise me if they had a few crude traps around.

Once Gelgish declares the area safe, the half-orc moves to the north west, carefully. He looks out over the water, then examines what appears to be a continuation of the passage to the west.
The Bear will try to keep Gelgish within 5' of him, knowing that the dwarf can detect traps more easily.

GM Dak |

Coming around the corner Ulrich stops for a brief moment as you hear a number of goblins start screaming. This thirty-foot-diameter, low-ceilinged chamber stinks of smoke. A shallow fire pit smolders in the center of the floor, while nine tangled reed and leaf nests line the southern walls.

The Bear looks down and sees the blood covering him and begins to laugh, the mad laughter gurgling with some blood in his throat.
