Appearance and Personality: Tall and lean for a dwarf, Gelgish typically wears practical, outdoor-oriented clothing in a bad need of washing. He is also given to wide-brim hats and tends to chomp on the ends of long-smoked cigars. He also carries a long-chained ball-like weapon. Sullen and dour even by dwarven standards, Gelgish speaks little but listens always. His grumpy attitude could be misperceived as uncaring, but in truth the dwarf is deeply committed to the cause of good and will risk his own life to help others.

Gelgish was born the second son of a regionally famous dwarven warrior in the hills and mountains in eastern Varisia. Having made his fame fighting giants and adhering to old dwarven traditions, he passed on the teachings to his son (racial trait Giant Hunter, Dwarven Doen-Durger weapon proficiency). While incorporating some of those lessons, Gelgish was also driven by a wanderlust and enjoyment of above-ground adventures less seen in dwarves.

After finishing intial training in his clan to become a scout, he grew restless as the clan was in the midst of a prolonged peace. Therefore, Gelgish looked to other sources of purpose. He found such in a Pathfinder paladin devoted to the Silver Crusade, whose teaching appealed to the young dwarf's sense of right and wrong. Gelgish then set out to western Varisia and the Sandpoint region, after hearing about increased humanoid incursions in that area.

Arriving in Varisia, Gelgish met Shalelu Androsana, an elven Ranger. Despite the racial divide, Shalelu took to mentoring the enthusiastic dwarf in the ways of light warfare in the wilderness, striking several blows against the goblins in the area. However, not long after joining together, Shalelu sent Gelgish to join a group of adventurers in the region to assist them in their aims.
