Apologies for a slow reply. Sinus infection + medicine makes computer use... interesting.
Chavana hopes for the best, fighting a battle with the fiend she is unsure of.
Attack Roll including Bless: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

As she's fighting, she's trying to figure out the type of creature summoned.
Knowledge: Planes: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Darpan lets loose two more arrows and again only one finds its mark. Ulrich moves over and slices into the thing deeply though not causing as much damage as he would have expected with such a well placed hit. Gelgish comes to aid Ulrich and hits as well, though like Ulrich doesn't feel the damage dealt was equal to what should have happened. Chavana comes to aid the others but can't seem to quite hit the thing.
The creature still alive but barely haging on strikes back at the source of the most pain.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Its claws scrape into Ulrich but only leaving a minor injury. The flying creature screeches at Darpan her irritation evident. Attempting to hex him once again.
Sorry for the delay.
Will save again Darpan

Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli

The Bear's laughter grows into a fierce howl as he is blooded, and grinning maniacally, he swings his falchion again.
Falchion with Rage and Combat Expertise: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 2 = 24
Damage: 2d4 + 7 ⇒ (1, 1) + 7 = 9
Ulrich will stop raging immediately if the creature falls, beginning his exhaustion and conserving his final round of rage.
Gelgish Stoneblinder
|
I think Ulrich's blow will kill the creature. If not, forget what I'm about to post as Gelgish would try to finish off the creature in front of him.
Seeing the fiend fall, Gelgish pulls his short bow off his back and steps forward to take a shot at the flying creature.
Move action to draw bow, 5ft step to square creature Ulrich killed used to occupy, and shot
Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Once again Darpan fires 2 arrows from his bow, hoping to takedown the evil flying creature.

Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
| GM Dak |
Darpan takes another two shots, again only one arrow striking true. Ulrich finishes off the horrible creature, it vanishes into nothing the same way it appeared from thin air. The flying creature yells "That is only one of many minons!"
Gelgish moves up to take a shot but the arrow goes wide.

| Chavana Haoul |
Chavana, holding her shield steady defensive moves towards the creature over the fountain. Chavana's look changes to something cold, as if the situation has brought something forward with Chavana's memory.
"Stand down, creature. We brought no quarrel, and you attacked us. My friends and I will defeat you. You have no hope."
Her voice rings cold and determined. Her posture is solid for her defensive stance as she eyes the "waters" under the flying creature.
Does Chavana have any idea of the depth of the "water?"
4/20 rounds Bless used as of the end of round 4
| GM Dak |
Chavana moves closer to the pool attempting to keep a defensive stance while threatening the creature. It arcs it's wings and lets out a horrifying scream both in frustration and in glee.

Will save from all - DC12 or freightened for 4 rounds, if succesful shaken 1 round.

Gelgish Stoneblinder
|
Will Save for Gelgish 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 Add +2 if this is a spell or spell-like ability due to dwarven resistance. Actually, also add +1 for Bless since this is a fear effect.
@GM:So...Gelgish makes his save if this is a spell or spell-like ability, but fails if it is not.
| Darpan Bala Manujyestha |
Will Save: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 6 + 1 = 25
Two more arrows fly from the easterners bow towards the flying monster.
Attack-Ranged: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Attack-Ranged: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 1 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Gelgish Stoneblinder
|
@GM: Could you let us know whether any of our attacks last round actually did anything?
Gelgish rocks back for a moment as the wave of unnatural fear washed over him. He appears on the verge of running, but with a glance at Chavana he holds his ground. Still unsteady, he lets out a shuddered breath before launching another arrow.
Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 Mods include +1 for Bless and -2 for shaken condition
Damage, if hits 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli
|
Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Even in his exhaustion, the Bear shrugs off the worst of the fear that passes through him seeing it for the sorcery that it is. Fatigued and shaken, he sheathes his blade and draws out a javelin to throw at the creature.
I am assuming it flies out of even the reach of a polearm, correct?
| GM Dak |
Even with the horrific scream no one seems to be too affected. Darpan takes two shots, both miss. Gelgish takes a shots which manages to connect.
Gelgish your second shot last round was extra. (technically this rounds action - though I am just using the new one instead). Overall the creature still looks pretty healthy. Ulrich you are correct with the angle she is basically 25 ft away you would need to be enlarged with a polearm to reach her.
Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli
|
Sorry, Ulrich lost track of rounds. He will hurl a javelin at the creature.
Javelin: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 - 2 = 7
Damage: 1d6 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 - 2 = 7
| GM Dak |
Ulrich hurles a spear but it flies wide while Chavana continues to try and talk to the thing. The thing, having no luck in hexing Darpan instead tosses her dagger at him.
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 2
It flies true striking at Darpan and immediatly returning back to her. She grins as some of her wounds continue to heal themselves. Mocking the others "I'll widdle down your archer and then deal with the rest of you."
Round 5
Ulrich, Gelgish, Chavana, Creature1, >Darpan
Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli

Ulrich, still tired from his rage, continues to try and aid his companions by using his javelins.
Javelin w fatigue: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 1 = 6
Damage: 1d6 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 - 1 = 5
| Darpan Bala Manujyestha |
Wincing at the cut, Darpan continues to fire at the flying abomination.
Attack-Ranged: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Attack-Ranged: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
| GM Dak |
Darpan lets loose two more arrows, the cut effecting his aim more than he would like as both arrows go wide. Ulrich follows suite tossing a javelin that clinks against the wall before landing on the other side of the pool.
Round 6
Ulrich, >Gelgish, Chavana, Creature1, Darpan
| Chavana Haoul |
Chavana will try to identify the flying monstrosity.
Knowledge: the planes: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Chavana begins to circle around the creature. Staying within range, she bursts with holy energy, omitting the abominations in the room.
Healing Burst: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Gelgish Stoneblinder
|
Gelgish keeps launching arrows at the small but doughty creature.
Attack1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Damage, if hits1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
| GM Dak |
Gelgish takes another shot but it doesn't get anywhere close. Chavana calls on the power of her diety to heal her allies.
You had already tried to ID it :)
The creature throws the dagger once again.
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1
It has no problem finding its way to Darpan and cutting into him once again.
Round 7
Ulrich, Gelgish, Chavana, Creature1, >Darpan
Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli

Realizing that the javelins are near useless against the creature, the Bear rushes back to the top of the steps to recover his dropped polearm.

Chavana, sensing that the creature is much more powerful than she had anticipated rushes up the stairs, looking for some way of sending the creature back to its home. Perhaps seeking out something at the top of the stairs will send the creature away or take down it's flying ability.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
If she sees anything, to identify it, she uses knowledge: the planes, religion, and history to see if anything she knows would be helpful.
Knowledge: History: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Knowledge: The Planes: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Knowledge: Religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Does anyone have a tanglefoot bag? We need to get this thing on the ground where we can actually do something to it. If not, we're going to have to retreat. It's healing as fast as we hurt it.
| Darpan Bala Manujyestha |
Again the arrows fly from Darpan's bow, hoping to cripple the mocking demon
Attack-Ranged: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli
|
Darpan, do you have a critical to confirm there? Could be important...
| Darpan Bala Manujyestha |
Geez..I am so use to just looking at the end number, I did not even notice...thanks Bear!
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 1 = 19
Damage: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (1, 2) + 6 = 9
Gaaa...tanked the damage roll....these dice do not like me!!
Gelgish Stoneblinder
|
@Chavana: No Tanglefoot bag here. I doubt we have anyway to ground the creature.
@GM: Can you tell us a little more about how hurt the creature is?
| GM Dak |
Darpan lands another arrow, this one very well placed. Though as he would have expected it to put the creature down, whatever naturally defenses it had kept the wound from being too grave.
Ulrich goes back to retrieve his polearm while Gel takes another shot that misses, just barely. Chavana follows behind Ulrich lookging for some alternative to deal with the creature but doesn't find anything useful.
The creatures tosses the dagger at Darpan once again.
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1
It only barely slices into him before returning back to the creature.
It looks pretty wounded but with its continous healing it still has some fight left in it.
Round 8
Ulrich, Gelgish, Chavana, Creature1, >Darpan
Gelgish Stoneblinder
|
Gelgish fires yet another arrow at the creature
Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage, if hits 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli
|
In either a heroic or foolish move, the Bear leaps from the balcony in an attempt to reach the little demonic creature with his polearm!
I don't think he really needs an acrobatics check since he is only going 5' but just in case:
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 0 = 3
Attack w/CE: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 3) + 4 = 11
damage OUCH: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9
| Darpan Bala Manujyestha |
Even though one of the arrows speeds true, the creature seems little affected by the wound. Worried that he will run out of arrows, Darpan again fires and hope his luck can hold.
Uses perfect strike...not sure if it work for both attacks, but will put it in just in case!!
Attack-Ranged: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10
Perfect Strike: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Attack-Ranged: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7
Perfect Strike: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 1 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
| Chavana Haoul |
That is a great idea, Ulrich!
"Ulrich!" Chavana shouts.
Glaring at the flying creature, and realizing what Ulrich just did... and thinking of something not quite right, but possible... Chavana drops her backpack, mace, and shield, running for the edge of the balcony, she leaps into the air, grasping at the creature as she flies.
Figuring 10 feet to reach a small critter... Light load due to not carrying anything else.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (10) + 0 = 10
If that succeeds, a Grapple attempt... let's get this thing out of the air.
CMB: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
If this succeeds, she will land with a splash in the horrid water, holding onto the vile critter in her hands, oh, and she'll probably get stabbed a couple of times, too.
Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli
|
Picking himself up, painfully after his fall, the Bear takes a couple of solid shots at the creature making sure it stays dead. He then mutters in his Varasian accent, Little bugger was way more trouble than it looked.
He then starts to examine his various wounds as the fatigue that had overcome him wears off.
Gelgish Stoneblinder
|
Gelgish breathed a deep sigh of relief as the pesky fiend finally fell. Putting his bow away, the dwarf began looking about the room. He'll move up to the two fountains but will not touch either just yet.
Using trap spotter feature to see if any traps are within 10', and do search of the room
Perception Check 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 Add +2 if Stonework
| Chavana Haoul |
So, that means Chavana didn't leap? Basing my next set of actions on that
Chavana hurries down the stairs towards Ulrich, Darpan, and the others. She looks at Ulrich, Gelgish, and Darpan.
"This... place is unsettling to say the least. We need to find somewhere safe to rest, or I may run out of my goddess's ability to heal, which could be very bad for all of us."
Ulrich "the Bear" Rodelli
|
If the creature had fallen before Ulrich made the jump, he wouldn't have jumped. If he did make the jump he is at 12/22 hp.
| GM Dak |
Yes Chavana and Ulrich both did not jump.
| GM Dak |
Darpan up to you I either do a you get 50% back or you can roll a 1d2 for each with a 1 being a retrieval. Usually the 50% back is easiest.
| Darpan Bala Manujyestha |
That is fine with me..50% is probably better than I would roll anyway..lol
Darpan takes the items off the creature and wraps them up in the silk robe, handing the whole pile to Chavana.
In bundle: tiny cold iron dagger, a tiny tiara, a tiny black silk gown worth, a tiny obsidian unholy symbol
