Noiraigue Muveran |

Noiraigue sighs. "Since we're not too much pressed by time, we can try to find the key. A solid shoulder such as mine could also do the work. Or a hammer through the door."

Noiraigue Muveran |

The man shrugs. "Okay, okay."
He inhales and exhales, then runs, shoulder first, towards the door.

My apologies.. the door itself is open, but a small wooden coffer is found within the room and that is what is locked.
The group piles into the last room at the call of the discovered wooden chest. After no one produces any ability to open the coffer, Noiraigue stands to and smashes the lock with the hilt of a dagger. Raising the lid, a trove of books and journals are discovered within.
Inside are multiple journals and logbooks. The logbooks record various types of events, such as the sea journey to Ancorato, daily work details for construction and farming, a master tool inventory, records of the daily weather, and so on. This information is mostly pedestrian in nature. All of the books date back to approximately 1 month ago, whereupon the entries become sporadic and stop altogether a week later.
A closer inspection of this log reveals that that it is missing three to four pages after the last entry, as evidenced by a razor-sharp incision along the binding where the pages were carefully cut out.

Noiraigue Muveran |

Noiraigue nods profusely. "Oh yes, you're right. Smells fishy. Maybe it's us, maybe it's the missing files and persons, don't know." he says with a crooked smile.
He agrees to stay in the building a bit more to search it.
Did we already explore the other office?

Anastasia Asheton |

Anastasia leisurely leafs through some of the journals before tossing them aside, "That is definitely weird. I agree with you both, there might be some shenanigans going on here that aren't quite as simple as monsters wiping everyone out. Let's keep looking around."

![]() |

Mr. Copperpot frowns, as does Grimnir, his dwarven bodyguard.
"This is...bizarre. It is almost as if someone inside knew something. Or, did someone leave this for us to find? There is so much we don't know. It's almost certainly a trap!"
Let's try the other office.

GM DevilDoc |

That was the only office with anything in it. Next move will be another building. Which one looks interesting?

Noiraigue Muveran |

"To the adventure, friends!" declares boldly Noiraigue, going over to the next buildings.
He goes on his right when he exits the building A11, thinking to maybe find dormitories.

![]() |

"They never really finished the fortifications here, did they?" Mr. Copperpot muses as they walk toward the long buildings.
Let's check out A11, then A3 and A4.

Glickly |

Glickly takes the logs for further perusal, hoping to find some good news of his friends. "Strange to not only remove pages, but to try to remove them so carefully in hopes that we didn't notice?"
Packing them up, he quickly hops after the others to explore more buildings.

GM DevilDoc |

I updated the map key a little bit concerning point A8.. you can see a finished gate on the southern expanse of the wall. The gate is standing open, revealing a bit of road and some houses built beyond. There is a stout timber laying against the palisade wall next to the gate that was probably used to secure the gate.
The group looks about for a moment before deciding upon the long and low buildings across the apex of the walls triangle. These two long, rectangular buildings are constructed entirely from planks on a wooden frame, with a pitched thatched roof. Each building has two door frames on the side of the buildings opposite the palisade, but lacks doors. Four window frames open into either side of the long walls, a few of which have no cover and others only a canvas draped across the inside. A partial view of the interior is possible from the doorways. Inside, the floors are hard-packed earth, and along the walls are wooden bunk beds. Many of the pallet beds are covered with blankets that now gather dust. Those beds have sacks or tied bundles of clothes sitting at their feet.
New Map is up

Noiraigue Muveran |

Noiraigue don't want to waste time and goes in.
"Well, they sure did a good job in this camp. However, there's only dust around here!" he says, giving an overall look inside.

Mr. Copperpot paces back and forth as Grimnir the mute bodyguard looks on.
"There must be some clue as to how they all disappeared. It is as if the wind suddenly blew everyone out to sea. With the exception of the pages cut from the log, we haven't found anything that might say where they've gone," he frets.

Katria: Special attacks include acid damage done with every bite attack, as well as the ability to spit a line of acid for 15' every 6 hours. If you don't count an intelligence that is so low it is only barely above mindless as a weakness, then there are none.
As Anastasia cries out in pain, the rest of the team rushes in to see the problem. With one giant heave, Noiraigue shoves the bunkbed out of the way, revealing the monstrous little insect.
Now it is in plain sight, Katria calls out what she knows, while the rest move into position, readying weapons.

Mr. Copperpot can't see an opening to attack. He remains outside the doorway, looking in with concern.
My only decent combat spell right now is color spray, and there's not a way to cast that. I'll delay for now.

Mr. Copperpot dives for cover as the others finish off the creature.
He avoids the spray of goo from the safety of the other room. He ventures out after a few moments. "There could be any number of those in here!" he says. "Maybe these things came in and ate everyone..."
Once the room is clear, he begins looking around carefully for any more clues.

Happy to see the bug die, Noiraigue puts a knee on the ground.
"Have you guys any more of 'em potions of healing? I feel weak..." he says.

GM DevilDoc |

Mr. Copperpot moves desperately to avoid the goo before looking fearfully around the room. His casual glance doesn't turn up much of anything through the room.. the rest of the room seems to be unspoiled and littered with personal effects of those who stayed here.
Meanwhile, Noiraigue tries to staunch his bleeding..

Noiraigue Muveran |

Thanks Katria!
Noiraigue grips the pot without a word and downs it.

Mr. Copperpot declines to touch Noiraigue's hand.
"There could be all kinds of bacteria or airborne parasites from that critter...not to mention I see some of its blood on your hand!" he says before turning back to the room and casting detect magic.

Noiraigue Muveran |

Noiraigue is really happy that Katria obliges. He doesn't seem to mind the bacteriophobic gnome and strokes his scar on his cheek.
"But, man, I mean, Mr Copperpot. We just arrived on an deserted island, far from civilization. Aren't you afraid we already are doomed by a rare yet foreign and unknown virus, bacteria or parasite?" he says with a genuine concern.

![]() |

Mr. Copperpot nods vigorously.
"My thoughts exactly! I am only glad to have someone of a similar mind in the group. There are all kinds of things that could have wiped out this settlement, and I have still not ruled out airborne flesh-eating respirated black parasites."

Anastasia Asheton |

With a slight sigh, Anastasia stands up and dusts herself off. "That could have gone better, but thanks for having my back, guys." With little ado, she pulls out the healing potion from earlier and drinks it.
