Eh, we're not at a wet t-shirt competition here.
When you're playing with acid, it's more like a "what t-shirt?" contest.
| GM Chyro |
When you're playing with acid, it's more like a "what t-shirt?" contest.
Probably 'when playing with acid, you're in for a ride'

Petrok moves to the other side of Kitoro and hits her with the wand of cure lt wounds (don't know if Charo will have burnt off the ants or not yet..but, there is little else I can do unless I want to spend a round rummaging through Steinfaust belongings looking for more acid ect..If I heal Kitoro this round she may stay alive through the next..ants or no..) wand of cure lt: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 Hang in there Kit! we'll get these things off you and you all healed up! *edit* forgot I was on grease my movement is 40ft so should be plenty to get to the other side of Kitoro if I can stay standing. reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Petrok Kaznikh
|
sorry :( Acro roll doH! just keep the reflex to prevent falling ?? I don't know acro coming.. acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
I assume heroism is still up..?(the reflex save would have been +9 not +7 but anyway)

Charna finally tosses her acid flask to finish off the swarm!
ranged touch: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
acid damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
| GM Chyro |
Kitoro is the (unfortunate?) recipent of acidic assault. The positive side of it, is that the remaining ants melt away and drop to the floor like little semi-liquid drops.
Combat over.
Petrok Kaznikh

Petrok hits the kind and lovely Kitoro twice with his wand of cure lt. and he hits himself twice as well. Will you be able to heal yourself the rest of the way? The grim 1/2 orc ask in a somber voice but gentle voice.
cure Kitoro: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
cure Kitoro: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
cure petrok: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
cure petrok: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
*edit addition* GM I'm taking off bears endurance as it last only 3 min and I doubt you'll have something jump us in the next min and half. Question how much longer before Heorism wears off? (it was cast just before the rot grub room) Petrok cast barksin a few minutes before the Heroism (say 4 min by game play) both have 40 min. Do we have one room two rooms to explore before they run out?
Petrok Kaznikh
|
Petrok looks around at the carnage he digs through Steinfaust belongings and happens upon the anytool; nodding he places it back in his back pack. Normally I'd not loot a fellow Pathfinders corpse like this but we will need healing if we're to continue. I'll take his remaining vial of acid and donate the cost of the acid to his remaining family or his burial cost if he has no family. Petrok digs through a little more and finds Steinfaust wand of cure lt. and a potion of cure lt. He pockets the potion and stands up with the wand and ask, Does anyone need healing?
GM for ease of transition I'm going to take off 60gp of gold off of Petrok now and for flavor purposes we can say I donated it to his family or funeral cost at the end of the adventure. If for some reason it's frowned upon or Steinfaust objects (because he wants to be raised later) we can always say the gold found it's way back to him and he can re-purchase the same products ( no harm no foul). As for the wand as a resource it's up to you and Steinfaust. If you (as the GM), don't want us to use it, you can always say the command word was keyed to a different user or something like that. (If Steinfaust wants his resource, a.k.a wand, with all the charges remaining when/if he's raised, you can do the same thing I guess, or just say it's broken and his faction gives him a new one when he's raised)
| GM Chyro |
I don't think his faction provides him like that. A wand of clw costs 750gp or 2PP. Have his thought on it before using his consumables.
Kitoro
|
After the splash and healing Kit should be at 18/31 HP. She will finish healing herself with the CMW wand she was given, and her own wand after a hearty thanks to Petrok, absent 'mindlessly' patting him on the back with a hand full of ant finger puppets (with a few mostly dead ants clinging to the fabric).
clw: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 3) + 2 = 8
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
1 charge deducted
Petrok Kaznikh
|
Petrok drags Steinfaust remains and equipment out of the room with the slippery floors. He takes out his wand again and heals himself with one more charge before putting it away (down to 6 charges on my wand). Next he says a few words over Steinfaust remains, May the grren mother embrace your body as your soul travels to it's chosen destination. Petrok finishes. wand cure lt: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Petrok stands up after covering Steinfaust remains with his now tattered and half eaten cloak. Well what's our next move? We could go outside the complex and make camp for the night healing or wounds and resting? But there's supposedly an orc chieftain somewhere in these halls and he may be after the same thing as us. If he slips past us as we sleep, or mission would be a failure. Petrok studies his companions faces. I know we are beat up, but I for one would like to track down this orc chieftain before we rest. There's no guarantee he and his men won't ambush us while we sleep anyhow. Best to press on and meet him on our own terms I be thinking. Petrok waits for the party's replies.
Kitoro
|
"If we encounter another swarm we are doomed with no fire spells left. Are you sure that is a good idea? And I am down to one spell."
Nectanebo the Vulture
|
"We can find someplace dark and remote, camouflage our camp if at all possible, and apportion watches...because Kitoro's right. I was a fool to come here so unprepared."
Incidentally, Petrok, I have the Any-Tool, not Steinfaust.
Charna the Morbid
|
"With luck Steinfaust may yet live. But there's no chance of that if the rest of us die first. Let's find a secluded spot to camp out so we can continue on refreshed. We will deal with the orc chieftain if we come across him. Frankly he scares me much less than the native terrors of this place."
Is everyone all healed up then? I'm happy to pitch in some charges on my wand if needed.
Faeran
|
"I can do some native healing before we rest, don't waste all your wand charges if anyone needs further healing. But I agree, we need some rest before we continue on."
Petrok Kaznikh
|
Petrok nods his head in acceptance rest it is then
Nectanebo the Vulture
|
Maybe outside? I was wondering if, like I said, I (or someone else, if there's anyone better) could make a Disguise check to salvage some camouflage or whatever for our camp.
Kitoro
|
Kit has no camping gear so if the weather is bad (rainy or cold) she'll want to be indoors. Otherwise, outside is great. 8 strength makes camping gear impractical, you know, unless you want a mule tagging along or have the money for extra-dimensional space.

Outside, the weather has become clouded and cold. Not freezing, but the air is cold.

"This is not going to work for me. I'm freezing my arse off out here. I'd rather risk a few skeletons than spend the night out here in the open!"
Petrok Kaznikh

Petrok drops Steinfaust remains on the ground gently and breathes in the fresh cold air. It's wonderful isn't i... Petrok glances over at Kitoro shivering and shakes his head knowing this isn't going to work for the fragile Kitsune.
This is not going to work for me. I'm freezing my arse off out here. I'd rather risk a few skeletons than spend the night out here in the open!
Petrok waves everyone back towards the entrance of the tomb and sets Steinfast remains under a few heavy rocks and a shallow pit he quickly digs with the Anytool, Nectanebo lends him. Wiping his hands together Petrok hands the Anytool back to the necromancer and says. The caved in stairwell I visited had only one entrance in and one out. It's the perfect place to put up a defense if needed. We sleep in shifts and have a guard posted at all times. Petrok looks around to see that everyone is in agreement.
Faeran

"Don't they need eight hours of rest... maybe we should take 4 hours watch each?"
... and Kitoro, wouldn't you be warmer in your foxy form, with fur?"

"Don't they need eight hours of rest... maybe we should take 4 hours watch each?"
... and Kitoro, wouldn't you be warmer in your foxy form, with fur?"
Well need our rest to my friend, lest we falter. But the spirits will grant me magic regardless come morning as I suspect so will your God. This is Petrok's way of saying he needs 8 not necessarily consective hours of rest in order not to be fatigued come morning. Most other races do too. If me and you both take 4hr watches that means we are out of action for 12 hours instead of 11 (we both take a 4hr shift then need total 8hrs rest 4+8 =12). the way I arranged it ..it cuts 1hr from the sleep cycle. If Steinfaust were still with us..we could have did it in 10hrs.
| GM Chyro |
Just to point a funny fact out, every kitsune's human form varies on what their player wishes. It gives them a +10 bonus to appear as a mere human. She could take 10 on disguise and have a DC 28 perception to notice she's not your average human.
Faeran can't meet that pereption DC. :)
Kitoro
|
"... and Kitoro, wouldn't you be warmer in your foxy form, with fur?"
Not with a survival roll of 2, she won't.
In a sort of whiny growl she answers, "But it is a WET cold. At the very least I'd get sick, I just know it, and as for resting enough to get spells back - forget it. I like Petrok's idea."
By the way, she has been almost totally in her natural form this whole time. I'd just assume any Kitsune would prefer to use their natural form unless tactics called for something different. I'm surprised none of the red-blooded males has offered to share a bedroll :)
Nectanebo the Vulture

Nectanebo blinks in the face of the sudden unexpected plan-blizzard, as well as the uncharacteristically neurotic half-orc's remarkable and slightly concerning ability to go from frenetic organizing to deep sleep in the blink of an eye.
"Um...fine. Very thoroughly thought-out."
Faeran

sorry - I went by your profile pic which is definitely not 'fox-like'.. foxy yes, fox-like, no
"I agree with Petrok's idea, but I still think longer rest periods might be better... if not, no worries, it makes no difference to my casting, as I am fine either way."
| GM Chyro |

Someone's hitting on someone. :D
Faeran

"You know... body heat can be warming... come share my bedroll and I will help keep the cold away." there, happy? lol
Kitoro
|
"Well, do you wear your armor in bed? ... but it should not be necessary since it sounds like we are going to sleep inside tonight."
Faeran
|
"armor to bed? how gauche... of course not... but the offer is open even if we sleep inside, my dear." he says with a little smile... "I'd not mind your company"
Kitoro
|
"Well, dearie, I'm in it for the warmth. Perhaps if we got to know each other a little better... You never know."
Faeran
|
"Well why don't you come over here and let's chat a bit... maybe over dinner?... I have some rations we can share. let's start that 'get to know each other better' process... "
Kitoro
|
"It's a date. You know you're the first pathfinder to ever ask me out? I've had a pirate or two do the honors, but they were less than honorable. Should be fun, no?"
Faeran
|
"Yes, it should... Not that it's exactly 'out' for dinner... but perhaps when we return home, that can be arranged as well... in the meantime, I'd love to hear more about you. How did you come to channel your talents through puppetry? a natural talent come upon by happenstance, or did you train with a master?"
| GM Chyro |
The rest is uneventful, and you all wake up rested in the cold dark.
The atmosphere lessened by small means of light from your magics or torches.

Kit chats amiably herself, explaining how she was raised as a serf on Mediogalti Island. Seizing an opportunity she stowed away on board a Pirate Vessel and escaped as a stow-away on a pirate ship. Though no seaman, she proved to be an excellent entertainer and her familiar, Kane the mongoose (who is currently coming off a terrible hangover), was a fine hand in the riggings. She glosses over the less savory enterprises to keep alive once she left the pirate ship. It becomes obvious that the Pathfinders are 'easy money' to her.
She has many stories and is quite skilled in acting, comedy, and oration and the stories are quite entertaining and Kane helps act out many of the scenes.
As she talks she also tries to wheedle a little history out of Faeran.
Faeran

Faeran makes kaf and offers a cup to Kitoro, and makes the offer to anyone else who might want some, finally, takes a cup for himself.. He speaks as he sips.
"My life has been nothing as exciting as yours. My parents still reside in Greengold, where I was born. When I was young, my mother owned a small restaurant... We were far from wealthy, but we ate well. She's a wonderful cook. My father is a master craftsman, a maker of bows. He taught me to shoot well, and a little of his art, but I'm afraid I'm not very good at the craft side of it... I did love playing in his workroom as a child. My parents sent me to a succession of schools, but I really had no head for advanced learning or magical arts. I was what you'd call a dissolute youth. They sort of gave up on me for a while, but I had an uncle, my mother's brother, who guided me to the teachings, such as they are, of Arshea. I have been an avid follower since. Freedom of spirit, of body... freedom to love indiscriminately if desired... all of these things suit me well. I joined the Society because I thought it would be a good way to meet interesting people, and it has. See? I met you!"
He shrugs. "But, as you have heard, my life has been rather dull, especially compared to yours, at least until joining the Pathfinders... and those tales will wait for another day. It's late, we should get some rest before our watches... The offer is there if you wish to share a blanket, but no obligations, of course. Just body heat if that's all you wish to share."
Petrok Kaznikh

Petrok rises and with a cramped and aching back. He does his morning chant and dedication to the Earth Mother of the Green Faith. He ask her for magics that will aid him in his quest for the relic they seek. He looks around at the group and sees Kitoro and Faeran talking quietly. A sudden pang of jealousy strikes Petrok but he quickly suppress it. What foolishness is this Petrok? What do you care if they have relations? It's got nothing to do with your life's journey. Petrok never-the-less is not in a friendly mood as he rises and says, We need to move quickly.. Petrok stares at the Kaf in disgust as if offered poison. We've no time for beverages and pleasant conversation. I propose we take the southern passage out of the room with the well. I wish to avoid the slippery room for now in case of more ants but, if we run in to a dead end we can always back-track and take one of the passages leading out of that dangerous area. Petrok shoulders his pack and draws his Falchion, I am ready! Let's go! Petrok says the last more forcibly than he wished. He the storms out of the room expecting others to follow.
Note; I don't expect other PCs to follow me blindly. Just doing some roll playing here. If you want to head in another direction just have a character call out to Petrok and explain why we're going some different route..otherwise one route is good as the next right? And it keeps us moving. GM please note Petrok prayed for new spells I'll update his tag lines.*edit* note I've moved my pawn to the position I wish to explore next. If that's not where the party wants to go feel free to move me with the party placing me 2nd or third in line.
Kitoro

Kit does indeed spend the night snuggling with the friendly elf, though no hanky-pank ensues. Even if she was the type, the lack of privacy is a certain mood killer. She rises, not nearly as stiff or sore as Petrok, and offers again
"Petrok, hold up there a bit and line up for your morning dish of heroism if you are going to take the lead. We need you at your best form - no more deaths!"
Anywhere we start looking is fine with me.
Faeran
|
just an fyi - the kaf and the chat were the night before...
Faeran cuddles with Kitoro but makes no effort to press his advantage, just snuggling for warmth, both body heat and emotional comfort. Come morning he smiles at her as she rises... "It seems we've got little time to prepare this morning... I do need to pray and perform holy rites though... " he turns and addresses Petrok... "Give us a little time to break fast, and prepare for the day, including prayers... surely you can recognize the need for magical and divine aid during the day."
Charna the Morbid

Before everyone retires, Charna channels healing. "This might help you sleep better."
channel positive: 1d6 ⇒ 5
I can use spell slots before bed for healing also if anyone needs any more.
The next morning, she does her best to ignore the snugglers. "Shall we return back to where we were or go a different way?"
| GM Chyro |
Petrok, you have 2 'or' spells listed. Could you decide on which ones please.
Petrok sees the ceiling goes 30ft high, and a huge set of stairs rises towards it.
On top is a big skull, shining some light around it.
That skull belongs to a rune giant. Why it is here though, is a mystery.
Which way, south or east?
