Krojun spent a harrow point for the +10 move speed. That'll put him at +4 from speed and +2 to dex based checks.

Feeling the threads of fate pulling taught under him, Krojun darts after the fleeing girl at a speed that belies his hulking frame. The big Shoanti reaches the wall and muscles his way up it.

Nicoali attempts to follow Silvio through the hanging laundry only to get hopelessly tangled in the drying clothes.

Escape Artist: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

You can still move, Sera; everyone has a standard or move-equivalent action each round in addition to the movement.

Silvio rushes ahead nimbly, moving through the clotheslines without difficulty.

Staryth, meanwhile, winds up quite entangled. Moments later, Nicolai ends up in the same fate. Their combined weights snap the clothesline, and the two men lose their balance, tumbling down into the street; lucky for them a cartload of hay breaks their fall, and they come otu of it only moderately hurt.

Fall Height: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Staryth's fall damage: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2) = 6
Nicolai's Fall damage: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 2) = 4

You are now at street level, with the crowd. Each round, you may make a STR or DEX roll to move one space, or attempt to climb back up into the shingles. (For a DC of 15) Assuming that you're moving together, one of you can aid the other to move through the crowd, making a single roll that will allow both of you to advance. Similarly, the climb check can be made by helping each other, but in that case, you will each need to make a successful climb.

Krojun attempts to clamber up the wall, but his hand slips at the last moment; the brick is quite rough, but it is still much of a challenge to climb.

Ahead, Trinia sees Silvio closing in on her. He sees her fumble to draw something from her belt as she runs: a wand of some sort.

Trinia's Acrobatics: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20
Trinia's Escape Artist: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23

Trinia gracefully leaps through a gap between two chimneys, landing on an higher roof across the street, giving herself a fast shortcut.

stuff: 8d4 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 4, 4, 3, 1, 1) = 18

Party is up.

Krojun: You see a climb you believe to be almost trivial to you; a chimney you could clamber up to reach a flat roof above. With a simple act of balance (Acrobatics) afterwards, you could also balance atop a plank connecting two rooves and take a shortcut.

Silvio: A narrow gap between two buildings offers a risky but rewarding shortcut (Escape Artist), while further ahead, an uneven roof would provide a trivial shortcut to you if you can maintain your footing. (Acrobatics.)

Sera: The remaining clotheslines still provide a first obstacle, as does the climb Krojun couldn't quite make.

The DC is higher than 21?!

Is there a corner to brace against or something?

Edit:I'm confused. If I failed the first climb check why is there a new obstacle?

Male Elf Rogue 1 (AC 18, Saves Fort +4, Ref +9, Will +6 HP 6 out of 15?)

"Ow..." he looks at his companion, "Are you okay, Fulko?"

DC 22+ climb at level 3 is painful.

Spotting a wall that wasn't recently greased, Krojun tries to climb it and squeeze across the shortcut.

Climb: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 4 = 21

Acrobatics: 1d20 - 2 + 6 ⇒ (16) - 2 + 6 = 20

It's a brick wall, basically. I did say it looked like a very tough climb. Sorry for the confusion. For the record, Krojun, you still got to move the one space since you only missed the DC by a little.

Female Half-Elf Cleric 3 HP: 25/25 | AC: 18, Touch: 13, FlatFoot: 17 | Saves: Fort: +5, Reflex: +3, Will: +7 | Init: +1 | Perception: +14 | Channels remaining: 7/7

Seeing Krojun have difficulty with the wall, Sera tries the more dexterous route, hoping her enhanced speed will aid her enough not to take a tumble like the others.

Acro: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1

Alas as she is about to make her way onto the clothes lines, she trips over the window ledge and tumbles arse over teakettle to the ground below.

damage: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 5) = 9

Groaning in pain, yet thankful Abadar did not reward her foolishness with a broken neck, Sera pulls herself to her feet and tries to resume the chase with Staryth and Nicolai.

Round 2 begins. Silvio and Staryth are up to move. Staryth, you may want to delay to move along with Nicolai and Sera down in the street. This will make your movements easier since you can move as a group.

Male Elf Rogue 1 (AC 18, Saves Fort +4, Ref +9, Will +6 HP 6 out of 15?)

Kind of what I was thinking. I think my armored pally is the weak link in this crazy steeple chase ;)

Yeah... This part is mostly good for the more agile characters. Staryth will have plenty of occasions to shine in the upcoming books, don't worry.

Male Elf Rogue 1 (AC 18, Saves Fort +4, Ref +9, Will +6 HP 6 out of 15?)

Not worried. I'm cheering on Silvio and Krojun!! *Waves pompoms* Go team lightly armored!:)

Strength check (aid another): 1d20 ⇒ 9
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

You can use dex rather than strength to move through the crod, Nicolai; that applies to helping, too. I'll add your dex to that roll for 11.

Time to attempt both obstacles!
Silvio plows forward, trying to catch the girl.

Escape Artist: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 2 = 12;
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 2 = 14
Burning Harrow Points like there's no tomorrow. Three left.
Escape Artist reroll: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 2 = 18
Acrobatics reroll: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 8 + 2 = 25

If he closes the gap, Silvio will call out to Trinia. "Trinia, Stop! You're good, but you won't escape me." Intimidate: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Silvio overestimates the width separating the two buildings, and ends up moving far slower through the gap than he expected to. Trinia looks back as he shouts, but doesn't seem very affected by his threat; no doubt seeing him fumble his attempt at that obstacle had some part in it. She moves ahead, forgoing any risks, feeling that her pursuer are far enough behind.

This time, Krojun is very successful; with thunderous strength, he hoists himself up the chimney and barrels across the narrow plank as though it were the simplest thing in the world, making great progress towards catching up to Trinia.

Party is up.

Nicolai, Staryth and Sera are still down in the street, fumbling admidst the crowd. Waiting on Sera and Staryth's post to account for yours, Nicolai.

Stuff: 4d4 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 4) = 9

Krojun's Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Krojun's Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Krojun catches sight of an easy-to-miss ledge further ahead, which would allow him to avoid a very long detour across the street. Reaching that point would allow him to cover much ground in very little time. No need to roll for obstacles, you had a pair of Perception checks and aced them.

Ahead of Silvio, a wide gap between two buildings that would save him a detour, but which seems like a rather risky leap, which he guesses is about a fifty-fifty shot at success. A second narrow gap, further ahead, offers an easier challenge; it is slightly wider than the one he fumbled moments ago.

Sera tries to watch the pursuit while the others "plow the road" for them, and keeps those on the ground up to date on the progress of the rooftop chase.

Not sure what rolls would be needed...?

A strength or dex check, at your preference.

Male Elf Rogue 1 (AC 18, Saves Fort +4, Ref +9, Will +6 HP 6 out of 15?)

"pardon me, excuse me..." Staryth tries to keep up through the crowd.

Humbled by his previous failure, Silvio tries what he thinks is the easier challenge. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 9 + 2 = 28

Silvio easily clears the obstacle, gaining some ground on Trinia.

Ahead of him, Trinia is starting to feel the pressure from her pursuers, and decides to take a risk on a particularly daring leap.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (19) + 14 = 33

She clears it with impressive ease, putting a little more distance and points the wand at Silvio.

Silvio's Will Save vs. DC 14: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Dazzling light shines forth from the wand, and for a short moment, Silvio sees stars and fluttering pseudodragons, losing track of his own thought processes. You are dazed for one round.

Down in the streets, Staryth, Nicolai and Sera push their way through the crowd, many of whom are looking up at the chase in surprise and confusion.

??: 8d4 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 2, 2, 3, 1, 3) = 19

Krojun's Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Krojun sees the leap Trinia just took; while the lithe and agile woman made it look easy, it seems rather unlikely that he would make the jump.

Party is up. Silvio's dazed this round. Again, many apologies for being so slow with the posting as of late.

Is there any other way past the leap or was the perception check my second roll?

The perception was your second roll. You can take a longer way and move one step; the leap is a shortcut obstacle.

If the jump seems beyond his means, Krojun will take the longer route.

Str roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

"Pardon me... excuse me...coming through."

We seem to have hit a lull. Will make a post in a few hours assuming Sera keeps moving with Staryth and Nicolai, and that Silvio has no reaction to contribute.

Silvio suddenly comes to a halt, standing starry-eyed.

??: 8d4 ⇒ (4, 2, 1, 1, 4, 3, 2, 4) = 21

Trinia's Escape Artist: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

Panicked as she notices the large Shoanti gaining on her, Trinia makes for a narrow passage, hoping to leave him in the dust. However, in her fright, she overestimates her abilities, and ends up hitting her shoulder hard against the wall, stopping her in her tracks.

Scrambling for her wand and wincing at her fresh scrape, she aims at Krojun, hoping to slow him down.

Krojun's Will Save vs. DC14: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

However, Krojun shrugs the spell off, continuing on undaunted and coming ever closer to her.

Down in the street, Staryth, Sera, and Nicolai notice two hellknights forcing their own way through the crowd and, moments later, a third, mounted on a hippogriff, approaching in the distance. It is basic knowledge that trying to interfer with a Hellknight on duty is a capitally bad idea.

Silvio, having recovered from his daze, notes two potential shortcuts in his way. One involves relatively simple acrobatics, while the other one looks like a tight but moderately feasibly squeeze.

Krojun, coming closer to Trinia, notes a narrow passage that, while simple for a more svelte and agile lad like his fellow chaser, looks somewhat of a tough squeeze for a broad shouldered man like himself. The gap between two rooves, just ahead, however, looks like an easy jump to him.

Trinia plays before Krojun. For the sake of simplicity, act as though she moved ahead before your turn.

Squeeze: 1d20 - 2 + 6 ⇒ (11) - 2 + 6 = 15
Jump: 1d20 - 2 + 6 ⇒ (20) - 2 + 6 = 24

Krojun continues the chase, building momentum before vaulting over the gap.

"Trinia, stop! We're friends!" the big man pleads.

All out of harrow points.

Seeing the girl fall, he decides it's another good opportunity to get the girl to stop. "See, running is just going to get you hurt!" Intimidate: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

No harrow points spent. You had it the first time. If you're going to burn up all your harrow points, at least use them on the escape artist and give yourself a leg up. ;)

Thanks Rusty Rooster! I know you give some hints about how difficult things are, but it's still a bit scary to risk failure now that I've seen range in some of the DCs.

Difficulty ratings are given according to how your character perceives them. When I say that an obstacle looks relatively simple, I mean that Silvio feels that he has a good shot at it, for example. I understand how it can be a little unclear, which is why I don't mind giving some chances out like that when I see someone spend a lot of points.

I actually really like that. Stating DCs gets a little meta-gamey.

Oh dear, I missed Nicolai's spell last post will account for it now. Can't edit the map from here, will do so in a little bit. Silvio is at 7, Krojun at 10 alongside Trinia.

Trinia's Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Trinia stumbles as the spell takes effect, panicking and screeching to a halt.

"Ah! My eyes!"y
Trinia tries to move forward, but she stumbles, giving Krojun an easy time catching up to her.

Krojun, you can attempt a grapple or some other means of restraining Trinia equivalent to a standard action.

This is still on the rooftops right so there's nobody around?

That is correct, as far as you can see.

Krojun rushes forward to grab the girl.

”Trinia, you have to calm yourself or you will fall. We are not here to hurt you. We are here to make sure that those that want to hurt you cannot”, the hulking Shoanti explains as he gets a hold.

Not sure if you're waiting on us, but Silvio will move forward as permissible.

"No! You don't understand! I didn't do it! I didn't kill the king! You have the wrongg woman!"

Trinia struggles, trying to get free from Krojun's grasp, but the Shoanti is vastly stronger than her.

"You're the ones that work with Marshall Kroft, aren't you? Please, I beg of you, don't turn me in. I'm innocent, I swear! I never did anything to the king other than paint his portrait!"

Trinia stops struggling, resigned to her fate.

Silvio, feel free to catch up with Krojun and Trinia freely and take part in the discussion. Staryth and Nicolai, the crowd is still rowdy and wondering what just happened, but you should be able to push your way through without too much of a problem. Sera is following along with you two.

Silvio catches up with the hulking Shoanti, then bows. "You've heard of us, then?" says the one-armed man, still catching his breath. "Silvio Errico, at your service. As my friend Krojun says, we are not here to hurt you or to turn you in. Rather, we are here to keep you safe as we investigate. And the first step to achieving that is to get scarse. So, will you hand over that wand and come willingly with us?" He looks about for his companions and notices the Hellknights nearby. "I suggest you decide quickly!" he says, nodding his head toward the Hellknights.

Krojun maintains a firm hold but takes care to not hurt the girl. ”Croft is an honorable woman. I would not help her if I didn’t believe in her”, he answers. ”Trust that we are here to keep you safe until the truth can be brought to light.”
