Broon |

”Mmm, that looks good”, Broon comments on the closing wounds,”But I don't think the orphanage can wait til the morning for rescue. Maybe these things carry some aid, help me check the others”, he quickly turns the bodies for anything useful.

"Take your time. If we miss something, we won't be much help.". Elena had become clever enough in her travels to focus on the most important things. She used a Detect Magic cantrip to check the bodies even closer.

GM Bold Strider |

Broon hurriedly searches the bodies and finds the dogslicers, whips, scale mail, studded leather and the like (all small) and some bits of string, a dead rat on a stick and two long sticks, while Elena takes her time to search the bodies and ends up finding five potions (one divination aura, four conjuration auras).

"Give me a second....we won't do the kids any good if we get killed by the goblins, too. I have found some magic that might help us....let me see if I can figure it out."

Loriana Shimmerstar |

Loriana moves over with the group, following to find where the orphans are located at. She seems distracted, like she is listening to something not quite there, as she casts her eyes to the sky and around looking for more goblins to strike out at.

Elena Lovain |

Elena hands out the four curative potions to each of the other four party members, and keeps the True Strike potion for an emergency. "Everyone, drink this when you are wounded and some of your wounds will heal!". After handing out the vials, she turns and heads toward the orphanage.

GM Bold Strider |

Moving north to the orphanage?
Here and there, the sounds of battle, clanging swords, calls of support by the town guard, and shrieking and singing goblins echo through the streets, but at the festival grounds itself, most of the citizens have fled. One or two goblins, small and unarmed, remain behind to scavenge food, and many more lie dead (along with a few unfortunate citizens).
The group moves quickly northward towards the orphanage and the loudest goblin singing and they enter a town square. That looks similar to the last town square! Near
Sandpoint's north gate, across from the oprhanage, a goblin commando mounted on a goblin dog has bravely attacked a noble and his hunting dog. The man cowers behind a rain barrel where he calls for help, while his dog fights against the commando. As you arrive on the scene, you see the goblin commando kill the dog with his horsechopper. The dog crashes dying to the ground as the commando's goblin kin (who were themselves cowering nearby as the dog was handled) throw up a cheer and emerge from hiding.

Torg Maran Gor |

How much time has passed since the first battle? The mutagen lasts for 10 minutes at 1st-level. If still active, I have AC 18, Str 22, Int 12. On the will save, the +1 to my roll was because of rage (+2 will saves).
Torg is still groggy from the wounds he sustained previously. He takes a moment to dig into his vest and draws out a small mostly opaque white vial with a symbol of a tower shield painted poorly on the side. He pops the corks and downs it in one gulp.
Torg uses a 1st-level Shield extract. AC would be 22 now, assuming the mutagen is active.

Elena Lovain |

Is the commando and dog up, DM?

GM Bold Strider |

@Elena: They are! Just got busy here in DC.
@Torg: I think your mutagen would have expired by now since you consumed it at the beginning of the first fight.

A rash starts to break out on the nobleman's exposed arm and shoulder.
To address the GM PC issue and the rerolls. You can feel free to reroll your characters after this fight, however this fight is as much tuning for me as it is for you. Finding the sweet spot of difficulty when I have to adjust the encounters is a learning process, but I think I'm understanding it a bit better. The nobleman won't help you defeat the commando by the way. This is still all on you. He had to take out a few goblins though because the goblins are supposed to be killed by things like random events (another goblin accidentally cleaves his buddy, a burning wagon topples over and kills one, etc.). They were just rolling too well for the goblins to suffer too many 'mishaps', thus the nobleman comes over and kills off two of them. As it should be. Is this AP going to be difficult? Yes. Has most of your trouble been from really terrible rolls? Definitely. If you notice, most of you can one shot them. You just haven't been able to hit them.

Sorry, but I don't think Torg went down from the 7 damage? He is just pretending to be unconscious. He had 2 hitpoints, +4 CLW, +2 rage. He took 7 damage leaving him at 1/16. Can he jump back in? His rage would have lasted another 2 rounds, I think before he passed out.

Double-checked the logs. I see that you factored in the Rage into your attack rolls and damage, but you never explicitly stated you were going into a rage, hence why I assumed you were bleeding out.
