Brewslee Haiiya |
Hustavan! There yoush are. I knew yoush could find the door.... You had me running all over this tomb.
Though the young monk had actually gone off and passed out behind a tombstone while the rest looked for the winged boar.
Brewslee comes over and slaps him on the back.
Shall we go in?
Brewslee opens the door as he waves the group inside.
Bevek Verdade |
"That was exhausting. You would think the VC could have given us better directions. Let's get this scepter and get off this mountain."
Bevek heads into the crypt after Brewslee opens the door.
Baern Bellindorn |
Baern follows closely behind, shield and sword drawn, only to find Brewslee slapping him on the back. "Serrah, I'm afraid Hustavan is two meters that way." He points to the tag-along before trying to recompose himself.
GM Bold Strider |
The golden double doors enter into a wide hallway, ten feet wide and twenty feet long, with a decorated ceiling twenty feet high. At the east end of the hallway, a five-foot-wide doorway leads to a stone stairway down. Two stories beneath the entry chamber, the stairs open into a thirty-foot-by-forty foot chamber of cold gray stone, its fifteen-foot-high ceiling supported by four granite columns flanking a single stone sarcophagus. Despite the austere decor in the crypt, the lid of the sarcophagus is carved in the form of an obese man with a gaunt face, his bony hands clutching an intricate scepter of interwoven mithril filigree.
The room smells faintly of rotting flesh and there is a pile of dead... stuff in the corner of the room. It appears to be a mixture of animals, cloth and other refuse.
Is anyone of Taldan descent?
Brewslee Haiiya |
Brewslee walks into the room as takes in all there is to see. With a deep breath he doubles over and begins to gag. Ugh it shmells like an old gnome who jusht ate pickled eggsh in here.
Brewslee moves over and inspects the stinking mound.
I am not Taldan descent
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Malachite Stoneheart |
Just for clarity, the sarcophagus actually holds the scepter, or only holds a carved likeness of said scepter?
Bevek Verdade |
Andoran, not Taldan.
Bevek draws his sword and follows close behind the other.
Yeegads! Whatever it is, that smell is nasty.
Bevek Verdade |
Bevek eyes the scepter carefully, looking for any sort of trap.
Find Traps: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
If there is one: Disable Traps: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Looks like a pressure plate to me. Here, fill this bag with sand.
Bevek takes off his coat and rolls up his sleeves while his companions fill the small sack. He then approaches the scepter, hefts the bag in his hand, and then pours a little out through his fingers. He closes it up, and very carefully, in one swift motion, he grabs the scepter and places the bag of sand in its place. He pauses a second, then stands up slowly as the tension eases from his frame.
GM Bold Strider |
Bevek doesn't sense a trap but as he draws the scepter from the grasp of the statue. However, Brewslee's attention moves from the pile of carrion to the moment of dramatic tension with the bag of sand and as soon as the metal rod is in the hands of Bevek an 'arm' of meat slams into Brewslee's side as the pile turns into a large golem of carrion.
Brewslee-18 FFAC: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
The nimble monk reacts by grabbing the arm and vaulting over the punch.
"RETURN THE TREASURE TO ITS FINAL RESTING PLACE!" echoes a deep voice across the room.

"Despite it's appearance it is not undead, but a magical construct. Try to hit it with slashing weapons"
Had a lot of these in a recent game I was running. Figured I'd at least get one question. Just let me know how many I'd get and I'll fill in the blanks.
GM Bold Strider |
I don't usually offer questions, just choose what I think is the most common knowledge. The higher the score, the more you know the stuff I think would be obscure.
Carrion golems are notorious for being laced with disease to curse any opponent who makes it to safety or slays the beast.
Their weird construction leaves their defenses vulnerable to attacks from slashing and bludgeoning weapons.
Gob Master of Greed |
"Oh and bludgeoning works too. I also recall it's full of diseases and resistant to magics. I think fire might make it stronger? Or was that lighting." Gob makes a few gestures and follows with a punching motion.
Telekinetic fist: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5
His spell is completely off target and only manages to hit the wall. "I need a vacation after this." The half orc grumbles.
Bevek Verdade |
Seeing the bits of meat form into the golem, and heeding Gob's advice, Bevek draws his mace. He then utters a prayer for aid to the Dawnflower, culminating in a call for justice against his foes.

Fort Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 This was for your last round, Malachite. Every round you spend next to the golem, you have to make a Fort save.

crap I forgot about the fatigue also. Need to subtract the -1 to hit / damage from my above roll.
GM Bold Strider |
Shu improves his accuracy as Gob conjures a ghost fist to smack the golem. The flesh ripples with his hit.
