Shardra thinks about what the mites said and has an idea.

She pulls out a silver coin as she maneuvers out of the way of any possible attackers to open up some space.

"Watch your eyes, it's going to get BRIGHT!"

Can I see the dwarf we came for behind the ants and mites? If so, how far back, and what's his condition? I have area of effect spells with 10 and 20 foot radii, so I'm wondering if I can hit the ants and mites without hitting him or my fellow Pathfinders.

Also, if you're going to shorten Azkadellia, the normal nickname is just "Az", not "Azka".

Az has never seen mites or giant ants before, but perhaps she recognizes them from her studies:

Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Knowledge Local: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Assuming the ants don't have fire resistance/immunity that Az would know of with those rolls, Az will move to position herself for a clear shot at the ant grappling Lazlo, and blast it with Scorching Ray.

These rolls include the -4 for firing into melee and assume I can avoid a cover penalty. They're against touch AC, so I'm hoping I can still hit. My caster level is +1 on Evocation spells from my Varisian Tattoo, which is why I get two rays per casting as if I were level 7. This is fire damage.

to hit: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 5 - 4 = 5
dmg: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 1) = 13
to hit: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 5 - 4 = 14
dmg: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 3) = 11

In the unlikely event that I recognize fire as a bad choice of weapon against these ants, I'll just hit it with Magic Missile instead.

Magic Missile dmg: 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 4, 2, 4) + 4 = 17

Dhastrach is surprised by the mites' and ants' fast attack, and crumbles underneath the giant ant. He concentrates on a brief second to cast the liberating command spell.

Free and Swift Fourth-Wall breaking Action: Shardra casts Evil Eye and Misfortune on the server dicecode because it is fail this month.

The mites recoil from the light as Shardra causes the sun to erupt from a small, silver coin that she carries. The mites begin to chitter wildly.

Undercommon:
"GACK!" one yells as another hisses. "The light burns!" a third yells.

In the light, Az sees that these are mites. They are small fey that are resistant to all weapons but cold iron and are fairly weak singularly, but in numbers they can overwhelm someone. The ants are just extremely large ants with no special properties.

She sends out a gout of fire and misses with the first, but the second singes the carapace of the beast as it's mandibles click and clatter in pain. It does not look like it can withstand another blast like that.

Dhas tries to cast a spell while grappled by another ant, but the clenching of the mandibles cuts into him and he loses the spell. He tries to break free as a last resort but has even less luck.

Fortitude Save - DC 19: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

The ant's carapace cracks, but it seems to be able to keep moving for second, but time seems to rewind in front of them as Shardra's curse takes effect imbuing misfortune upon it.

Will Save - DC 18 (Missed): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

The ants continue to try and cut into the gnome and dwarf leading the front of the pack of Society members.

If Az can get a clear line to shoot at the blinded ant and avoid cover penalties, she'll move there (up to 30 feet as a move action) and fire a Scorching Ray spell at the blinded one. The gnome, finally free of the ant pincers, scurries as far away as his short legs will take him (single Move), then pulls a wand out of his haversack (Standard as Move).

At last I can try this wand of acid arrow I bought way back! Excellent! Lazlo's brow furrows just then, as he thinks a bit more. Er...now if I can just remember the word old Hamish gave me to use it...

@Shardra: You can just do it. You guys didn't split up to go behind the ants, so you all are pretty tightly clumped and moving to exclude the ants is perfectly reasonable.

Dhastrach and Azkadelia drop the blinded ant as its corpse smolders, but the last ant still seems to have some fight in him as he lashes out at Dhastrach.

Az puts away her Cure Light Wounds wand. She's not injured and the situation's no longer critical, so she sees no need to be generous.

I forgot you were playing a pregen. Oh well, healing's cheap.

You resuscitate the dwarf back to consciousness and he seems disoriented for a second until he sees his seven saviors. "Oh thank Torag for sending me earth angels!" he bellows as he throws himself at your feet. "You are the greatest people to have ever set foot on the ground!"

"But do I know you? How did you find me? Where am I?" he says, looking confused.
