Rohara Acharya |
Round 5
"Working on it!" Rohara exclaims as she starts forward after healing Kilthan.
Standing beside the lizardman and calls to her goddess once again, "Lady Luck, I ask for your aid to heal this noble champion." Again her hand is surrounded in a purple glow as she touches Justin and the glow is absorbed into the paladin as some of his wounds start to mend.
Move to H-18,
Cast Cure Serious Wounds on Jusion (converted from daylight spell) 3d8 + 8 ⇒ (1, 3, 7) + 8 = 19 healed
GM Blood |
Ok, Rohara channels healing bringing both Justin and Jagdbach back to consciousness. Justin grabs his axe and swings, hitting the drow femaleI think I ruled that precision damage is not doubled, so sneak attack, frost from weapon, etc is not multiplied
Kilthan having received a large heal already from Rohara picked up his axe and cast a spell before receiving more healing and charging at the drow female, knocking her back into the wall with his killing blow.
Aarakess heals Justin some more.
The last drow tries to take out Justin. You quickly dispatch him after he lands a blow.
Attack #1: 1d20 + 12 + 1 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 12 + 1 + 4 + 2 = 25 vs Prone Justin
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Combat Over!
The passage way continues to the west, and there is a wall of iron bars with a door in the middle of them blocking a passage to the south.
GM Blood |
Above on the ledge is a small shrine to Mazmezz with a Jade idol worth 300gp in her likeness.
Aarakess Halcorn |
Aarakess looks at the equipment.
That should fetch a fair amount. Personally, I think that we should destroy the idol though. There is no place in this world for idols to such a vile creature.
Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
34/86 hp
Justin looks at the others as he gathers up the valuable loot. He seems to hold up the drow's armor as if to check if the breastplate can fit Rohara.
"That was the closest to meeting Iomedae I have been since the swimming ghoul or the nasty caster in the triple temple in the mines."
He assesses the situation and calls a conference.
"I have used my best magic and need some healing to get better, but we have the nonrenewable healing wands if we need to do that. How is everyone fixed for magic? As long as we can use that haste spell, I feel quite powerful. I can still smite one more evil opponent."
Don't think we turn back, just want to see where we are. 5/7 LoH 1/3 smite evil -- both litany of righteousness spells expended
Skorhald Warsong |
As the group recovers Skorhald zaps Justin twice with a healing wand.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
performance ends, lingering two rounds just in case.
"Aye, that was a wee bit close for my likin' and those black elves were fighting like demons fer certain. I think we should press the advantage if we can get the bleeding to stop."
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Jagdbach opens his eyes as the healing energy rolls over him, and narrows his eyes in rage at the remaining drow. He starts to push himself up onto his feet, but his strength leaves him as the rage does.... his last sight as the darkness takes him is his two-footed friend rushing toward him, putting a reassuring hand on his neck.
Kilthan turns from the priestess' body, scanning the battlefield and sees his furry friend's stirring, noting the terrible wounds and realizing that only his companion's indomitable will is keeping a body as damaged as that moving. He drops his axe and rushes over, his lingering magic letting him glide over the rubble as he reaches into his belt pouch for a potion bottle... But despite his speed, as he places a hand on his noble friend, he sees the rage... and the life... leave his eyes.
Jagdbach's rage ended in round 5 -- he was at 2hp, but his rage ends, his constitution drops by 6, and he loses 21hp -- dying instantly at -19.
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Sort of figured that was the dispatching of the last drow, but I'll more than happily accept a less-dead Fuzzsaw.
Rohara Acharya |
(As most poeple are healed to near full a channel does not seem the best option)
With everyone doing mostly fine Rohara mvoes to the semi-conscious badger and places a hand upon his body. she asks for her Goddess' aid and healing magics flow through her into the fearsome ally.
CSW (converted from daylight) on Jagdbach 3d8 + 8 ⇒ (4, 3, 3) + 8 = 18 healed
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan's at 45 and could use a few -- and Jagdbach, after Rohara's CSW, would still lose consciousness when his rage ends (at -1) -- so yes, I'll take some stick-hits over here.
CLW (Jagdbach): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 2/70
CLW (Jagdbach): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 11/70
CLW (Jagdbach): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 17/70
CLW (Jagdbach): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 25/70
CLW (Jagdbach): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 32/70
CLW (Jagdbach): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 39/70
CLW (Jagdbach): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 48/70
CLW (Jagdbach): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 56/70
CLW (Jagdbach): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 63/70
CLW (Jagdbach): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 68/70
That's 10 for Jagdbach..
CLW (Kilthan): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 51/94
CLW (Kilthan): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 59/94
CLW (Kilthan): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 66/94
CLW (Kilthan): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 70/94
CLW (Kilthan): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 72/94
CLW (Kilthan): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 75/94
CLW (Kilthan): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 81/94
CLW (Kilthan): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 87/94
CLW (Kilthan): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 93/94
And 9 for Kilthan..
Aarakess Halcorn |
Subtract as many CLW as needed for this:
Healing Hex @ Kilthan: 2d8 + 9 ⇒ (6, 6) + 9 = 21
Looks like the last 4 charges.
Also, I am still down 9 and I think that Justin is down some. With 4 of us needing healing, 1 or 2 channels would probably be the best use of our healing in my opinion.
Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
Justin waves off Rohara's offer to channel.
Going under three channels is dangerous, especially if Rohara can channel twice in a round with the feat that allows two channels to be expended. Let us burn the half of wand as indicated. We can buy more.
Expending 25 charges of healing, the party moves on.
Kilthan Hammerstone |
I used 19 -- retconned to 15 thanks to Aara's powerful hex. You know you're the punching bag when you use 60% of the healing in a 5-member party. ;)
Kilthan says, "I'll scout ahead, if you like, now that my head is clear again and I can switch back to Darkvision... I have half of my adaptations left for the day.... though I should take the key in case I come across a door that it opens."
Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
Justin distributes all ten of their CLW potions and uses 11 charges from his wand and they are ready to move on after healing the massive wounds.
Last ten CLW potions removed from the loot tracker, everyone should have at least one CMW potion for emergencies. My CLW wand is at 21 charges now.
"Ready to lead west old friend?" Justin speaks to Kilthan, the look of concern on his face obvious. "I can take the front, I just won't see anything or surprise anyone."
Edit: 15+6 on Justin was 21
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Add back 3 charges -- Kilthan had potions of CLW on him -- leaves him one each of CLW and CMW
GM Blood |
After healing up in whatever way you desire, you decide to press on. Heading down the corridor to the south west, the cavern corridor widens to twice its width before continuing onward back to its normal size. The floor has been smoothed here where it widens, Not difficult terrain and in the center is a large faintly glowing purple symbol.
You all recognize the symbol on the floor, it matches the one on the greater doppelganger leader's forehead, on the note from the doppelgangers' master, and on the robes of the tentacled faced creature that attacked you in the Sodden Hold after the battle with the doppelgangers.
Aarakess Halcorn |
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23
Aarakess looks at the symbol for a moment.
Be careful. It is a parlor trick. A permanent illusion. There could easily be someone or something else hidden hereabouts.
Rohara Acharya |
After the healing is done Rohara looks over the armor that Justin was holding up to her. When the enchantment is identified she considers that while she is waring a similar breastplate suit of armor, that the drow's was better. It took some loosening of straps where Roharas form was more full than that of a drow, but she managed to easily put the suit of armor on and stowed away her suit to deal with later. She also took up the draw's morningstar. Again a similar weapon to what she already wielded, just better. She stored the other weapon as well.
Once ready, if no other took up the key, Rohara put it in her belt pouch and continued one with the others.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16
Moving into the new room she tried to watch for dangers that could come from any part of the cavern.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan nods, "Figures. Trust the black-elfs do use their poxy magic to hide their devious ways. Should I pull out the magic rope to give us a way across? Or I can send Jagdbach in, he can use his claws to keep on the walls."
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan says, "Fell through one floor already today. Didn't much like it."
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Kilthan tells Jagbach to stay, then follows Justin, keeping 10’ back.
GM Blood |
You continue down the hallway past the illusory marker on the floor. The floor once again get rough, making walking treacherous if moving too quickly. Back to difficult terrain Soon you come into another natural cavern.
Set into the cavern wall of this foreboding chamber are a pair of tall white marble double doors, streaked with veins of a faintly glowing purple mineral. Flanking the doors are a pair of tall ivory columns, each bearing a tentacular symbol burned into their surface. It is the same symbol seen earlier in the hallway.
Map of the room visible
Kilthan Hammerstone |
Has it been 50 minutes since Kilthan's casting of Feather Step (in game, it's been months RL) ;) Also -- did we pass a door -- we might have stopped to examine it.
Justin D'Rite aka Sluuth |
"Is this symbol a problem? Can we turn this one off?"
Justin uses first one wand then the next.
UMD expeditious retreat then shield: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 241d20 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22
+20' move and +4AC
Aarakess Halcorn |
Aarakess moves close to the symbol, and attempts to determine what it is. She will start farther away and then move in closer.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21
Know(arcana): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
Know(religion): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
--> any clue how to disable this symbol?
