Correct, so you will need an Acrobatics check to escape, but its CMD will be quite high.
Erevan Stormstride |
Frustrated at his inability to get his blade through the troll's armor, Erevan instead draws a flask of acid and tosses it.
acid flask, ranged touch: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 151d6 ⇒ 4
Zarzuket 2 |
@Nijena its a swift action to lay on hands on yourself :)
Zarzuket summons another fire elemental.
It appears and attacks.
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
"Dammed thing..we haven't scratched it!"
Your GM, Black Powder Chocobo |
Alright, updating tomorrow, botting Arkynn if necessary. Just a busy past couple of days as wife as been using the computer a lot to study for a final
Arkynn |
Drawing a potion with my tail and drinking it would also provoke an AoO right? If not, then that is what I will do.
If it will, then I will do a regular attack and 5 foot step back again.
If I can drink a CMW without provoking: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (1, 5) + 2 = 8
If it would provoke to drink, then I'll attack using an arcane pool point to make my weapon +1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Your GM, Black Powder Chocobo |
Drinking a potion always provokes unless you have that 1 feat.
Arkynn's aim seems to be off as the battle is takings its toll on the tiefling.
However, Erevan's acid seems to continue to wound the troll, stopping its wounds from healing.
@Erevan: Moved you slighty so your throw wouldn't provoke an AoO
The troll angrily swipes at the half-elf for burning him again with the sizzles!
Bite @ Erevan: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Damage on hit: 1d8 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 2 = 9
Claw @ Erevan: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Damage on hit: 1d6 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 2 = 9
Claw @ Erevan: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Damage on hit: 1d6 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 2 = 14
A single swipe gets through the duelist's defenses!
Other option. Retreat and heal up for another day. Prepare different spells and get more anti-troll equipment if needed.
Init Order (bold = up)
Erevan (9 damage)
Zarzuket
Arkynn (26 damage)
Troll (24 damage)
Nijena (25 damage,smite, enlarged)
Zarzuket 2 |
"this should boost your health" Zarzuket casts bears endurance on the paladin.
The fire elemental attacks again.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
lol the die roller hates us
Erevan Stormstride |
Thanks for moving me...I had hoped to avoid an AoO.
Erevan draws a second flask of acid and throws it.
"These seem to be working better than swordplay!" he yells to his companions.
acid flask, ranged touch: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 171d6 ⇒ 3
Arkynn |
I have no problem with trying to regroup because I'm getting my butt handed to me with these horrible rolls.
5 ft step back and drink
Potion of CMW: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (6, 7) + 2 = 15
Your GM, Black Powder Chocobo |
At least your potion roll was good!
More acid prevents the troll's regeneration, but the fire elemental is left ignored.
Nijena!
Your GM, Black Powder Chocobo |
If you wish to duke it out, need to combine a good hit from Nijena (and to a lesser degree Arkynn's last shocking grasp) along with some acid or fire to stop his regeneration so he won't win the attrition HP war. And as an additional note, if you have a torch, once you drop him, just need to combine someone burning the guy with a torch along with the CDG. He can be brought down, although dang your dice have been cold and his AC is pretty high. But Nijena needs to put on the hurt and fast if you are going to do this without retreating.
Your GM, Black Powder Chocobo |
Botting Nijena and moving on
Somewhat healed, the paladin steps up and takes another swipe at the troll!
Gaff @ Troll: 1d20 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 3 = 10
Damage on hit: 2d6 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 3) + 4 + 4 = 14
Well then...
The troll laugh's at Nijena's feeble attempt to harm him. It decides to finally take care of the fire before then moving to Erevan.
Troll Claw @ Elemental: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Damage on hit: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Reflex on hit: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
More well then...
Troll burn damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
The troll is confused that the number of times it smacked fire, it finally conflagrates, setting its arm hair on fire!
Troll Claw @ Elemental: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Damage on hit: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Reflex on hit: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Troll Bite @ Elemental: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Damage on hit: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Reflex on hit: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
The elemental finally pops after taking all three attacks!

"This is my last flask!" Erevan cries out. "I'll make the most of it!"
He throws the flask directly at the troll's face, striking it directly in the mouth. The acid splashes into its mouth, nose, and eyes.
acid flask: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 251d6 ⇒ 5
CRIT!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 251d6 ⇒ 6
I guess if I roll a double 20 for close to max damage I can describe it that way!
Your GM, Black Powder Chocobo |
@Zarzuket, with your Cha... you probably have a couple left. Although perhaps keep one more for pip if you need it :) The no summons was meant that you have none in play right now
@Erevan: I like it! And glad it wasn't a home game... a 3rd 20 would have autokilled the bugger in my setup :P
Erevan perfectly times the throw as the troll is laughing and toss the vial into its mouth where the caustic fluid burns the troll's insides, causing more of it to get elsewhere on its face as it tries to spit it out.
Zarzuket throws more fire onto the troll, causing a different kind of burn!
Arkynn prepares for to use her final bout of electricity effectively!
Nijena steps up and swings at the distracted troll...
Nijena gaff @ Troll: 1d20 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 3 = 16
Damage on hit: 2d6 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (5, 1) + 4 + 4 = 14
She hits its armor, but cannot penetrate it!
Troll fire from burn: 1d4 ⇒ 1
The half-elf attracts the flaming troll's attention!
Troll bite @ Erevan: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 10 + 2 = 22
Damage on hit: 1d8 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 2 = 9
Troll claw @ Erevan: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 2 = 28

Troll claw @ Erevan: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 + 2 = 17
Damage on hit: 1d6 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 2 = 11
Erevan is bitten and clawed once each, but he manages to duck under the last swipe, saving his skin for now!

Zarzuket summons another fire elemental next to his tiefling friend.
It attacks.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Erevan Stormstride |
"Take that, beast!" Erevan yells, though he grimaces through the pain of his own wounds.
"I'm the one you have to beat if you want to get out of here alive!" he taunts, hoping to keep the creature's attention. The swordsman shifts to a defensive stance, poking at the enemy but remaining on the defensive.
+1 Dueling Sword (adamantine) (fighting defensively, crane style, defensive parry): 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 9 - 2 = 171d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 (+5 dodge bonus to AC; AC is 26 through next turn)
Your GM, Black Powder Chocobo |
Arkynn heals her wounds while Nijena finally gives the troll an appropriate blow, her weapon leaving a nasty wound in its shoulder that isn't closing up. Erevan follows up with a jab with his blade, but fails to penetrate the armor and Zarzuket's elemental also doesn't harm the troll.
Alc fire damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Burning damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
The troll, finally huffing and breathing heavily due to its injuries, doesn't seem to be willing to relent, lashing out with tooth and claw against the paladin!
Troll bite @ Nijena: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Troll claw @ Nijena: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Damage on hit: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
However, the lingering pain from the repeated blows and the fire seems to have affected its battle prowess, unable to land a blow to the enlarged aasimar!

2nd one

Arkynn fails to land an attack the troll as the large foe is now more cautious given its health.
Waiting til tomorrow for Nijena and Erevan, then botting and moving on
Your GM, Black Powder Chocobo |
Nijena and Erevan try to fell the troll!
Nijena gaff @ Troll: 1d20 + 6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 3 + 2 = 16
Damage on hit: 2d6 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 + 4 = 14

I already used all three of my acid flasks on the troll. Anyone else have some? If not, I can light a torch with a tindertwig.
"Anyone else have fire or acid?!" Erevan asks. He attempts to get through the troll's defense one more time.

Doh, I accidentally OOC'ed you last time Nijena, my bad!
And this is a new turn, so Nijena's roll will quite succeed!
Finally, Arkynn's been using spellstrike so the shocking grasp is in the rapier

Whew!
The troll's body has some rancid smelling, if not useful gear. +1 chain shirt for a Large creature, a +1 cloak of resistance, and a +1 ring of protection
Anything you wish to do while healing?
Erevan Stormstride |
"I knew I...we...would vanquish the foe!" Erevan boasts.
I'm sure a couple of us front-liners would enjoy using the ring. I'll take it if no one else wants it.

Your GM, Black Powder Chocobo |
Yup, it's on your spell list and you don't have an archetype that removes spellcasting, so wand away Nijena!
The party recovers what they can as well as themselves, and then heads back to Fiffernetter to return with the good news.
Back at the Northern Venduran Collective, Fiffernetter awaits. She smiles as the party returns. "Ohh goody! I am glad to see you have returned completely uneaten! I'm so sowwy for making you do such a mean, nasty thing."
She then begins to frolic. "This way, please! Your Lofton prize awaits!" The fey leads the party several hundred feet away towards a cave well hidden by the local flora. Moving some thick brush aside, the happy fey reveals a scraggly bearded man wearing a headband of flowers. He looks about in a dazed manner, making simple excited sounds at the arrival of guests. "Tadaaaa!", Fiffernetter exclaims, her small hand outstretched.
Your GM, Black Powder Chocobo |
Assuming so, yes.
The man smiles at hearing 'Lofton', but does not make any intelligible words.
If you had to guess, you figure that Lofton is afflicted with the equivalent of a feeblemind spell.
