Day Job Profession (scrivener): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 10gp, GM Aarvid

We’re on the road shortly, but daily posting should be no problem.
Back home approx 7am Thursday, GM Aarvid time.

The queen of the Fae and her useless mount are leveled, sans for Snave's feat (but who cares about that loser?) Having only AP and Module credit sure does suck for purchasing limits...

![]() |

Woo Hoo Two!
I was hoping you'd bring Cara, Tektite.

![]() |

That sounds exciting, Maximo! Are we likely to have heard of the play?
Break a leg!

GM Aarvid |

Yeah, cool. But don't break a real leg. I have been hobbling around for 3 weeks with a torn knee from playing tennis with the kids.

![]() |

Lore, has your move started? Hope you’re going OK.

![]() |

The movers are here packing us up and the moving truck comes tomorrow - I will have no internet until Friday, though I might have it UNTIL tomorrow morning sometime - If I don't post til friday though, bot me as necessary please... sorry for the interrupt.

![]() |

Ouch, that can’t be too comfortable for your knee.
Drive safe!

GM Aarvid |

Sorry for a couple retcons on posts (AC, touches etc).
I am on the road for a 4-5 more days and reading posts on my phone so I am not able to pull up character sheets and docs as well as I normally could from home.
As always, if you see something that looks fishy, please let me know. I am happy to correct.

GM Aarvid |

Starting our drive home tomorrow - so may have sparse internet connectivity until Thursday night.

GM Aarvid |

As far as the dispelled fly potion, I cannot find anything in rules/boards/faq regarding momentum once it is dispelled. If any of you have encountered this situation or have a link, please share.
My original thought was that Eadie "flies gracefully into the air" was acting as a ferry (not fairy) moving at a rate of 40' straight line (3D) from the current balcony (C) to the lower balcony (E). The minion was seen jumping from (D). I did not envision a horizontal flight then vertical descent onto the balcony. So I will stick with my first thought since it seems more "graceful".
The distance between balcony's was 40' so I figured a 45 degree angle of descent. This crossed the first band of runes and dispelled her flight ~10' in.
From here it gets wonky. I would think the Grippli, being on her back could try a standing jump off and try to cling to a wall or balcony.
But is there any forward momentum on a person who has their fly spell dispelled? Description says floats and not glides...but momentum could be preserved.
The subject floats downward 60 feet per round for 1d6 rounds
As far as Snave's flight, if it is a spell or spell-like, then it should be subject to the targeted dispel - assuming Snave passes through a ring of green glowing runes.
So unless there are any strong objections or citing other rules I am not seeing, I'd rule Eadie and 2 passengers are floating downward about 10' from the original balcony (as per map) and 'drifting' forward 10' per round as they fall 60'

![]() |

OK, I'm totally cool with moving forward.
I think I understand our predicament. Thanks for the trajectory diagram, GM Aarvid. That really helps.

![]() |

Maximo, I see you’re recruiting for a Season 6, Tier 1-5 in the Flaxseed Lodge.
I am keen to get Antonella into one of your games sometime. Unfortunately, she’s not going to be free for a while.
Nevermind, I’m sure it will happen eventually!

![]() |

I’m on vacation for 5 weeks from mid-September. So maybe the second-last week of October?
When does Gameday 4 finish? Isn't it around Christmas time?
I’ll keep an eye out for what you’re running anyway and maybe send you a PM?

GM Aarvid |

I have added elevations of the ledges and balconies/landings to the map...hoping to make it clearer where everyone is.
Lore and Eadie are even with the ledge along the southern wall of the well (and 80' below the southern balcony)

GM Aarvid |

Sorry the site was down this morning so I could not post. Will get something up later tonight .

GM Aarvid |

And 'yes' we are a little bit off the rails at this point. Will try to speed things along.

GM Aarvid |

I am going to be on a business trip Monday-Thursday next week. I should be able to post from the hotel, but maybe shorter posts and may need help with map updates.

GM Aarvid |

Internet is slow at hotel. I will post their attacks this evening. I suspect one or two more rounds then able to wrap these combats and proceed. Should have no problem finishing before Gameday4

![]() |

For what it’s worth the paizo site has been very slow for me.
Probably because of extra traffic for RPG Superstar™ voting.

![]() |

Hmmm, I didn't think of the voting. I assumed it had something to do with all the spam that's been on the boards lately. It probably is the voting.

![]() |

I think you mean morning (of the next day!) ;)

GM Aarvid |

Flying home tomorrow and will update then rather than fighting the hotel wifi another night.

GM Aarvid |

I have to admit, this combat in the well would be easier with 3D miniatures on a table-top rather than a 2D map. :-) I still think it is a cool concept.

![]() |

Oh, I just had an Eadie moment. The prisoner’s wall against the well is bars. That’s how Eadie can see into their room!
This string of encounters has been tense and excellent.
I think you’ve done a fine job with running the fights on this terrain, GM Aarvid. Bravo!
I have heard there is a tricky 3D map in Season 3: Quest for Perfection 1? I haven’t played that scenario. How does this one compare?

![]() |

As I recall, Quest for Perfection has a 3D map, but it is only for one encounter, and is simple compared to this one.
On a side note, I think the Quest for Perfection series is excellent, particularly part 3 (which might be my all-time favorite scenario).

![]() |

Oh, all-time fave is a tough call. I aim to have fun in every game I play ... and generally succeed :)
If we're talking the best written/designed scenario, Night March of Kalkamedes would probably be mine. I haven't GM'd it but imagine it would be very fun to run.
Mind you, I haven't played nearly as many scenarios as Tektite, Endless or Burglar.

GM Aarvid |

Are any of you playing these characters in the GD4? We should be fine finishing, but I want to make sure I keep us moving if someone has to make another table.

![]() |

I have no special plans for Lore for GD4, but I could if we want to continue with another scenario after this. *peeers at GM Aarvid and the others*

![]() |

No plans for Chochok next. I'm the most limited on scenarios though, I think. I haven't added the new season 7 ones yet but I can play those as well (except 07-01).

![]() |

Actually, on second thought, I'm going to sit out on the next game (if there is one). I'm still waiting for a few other games to finish to cut back on my load and it might be a while before I have enough time.

![]() |

Nothing planned for Eadie for GD4.
I start my holidays vacation tomorrow, but don’t fly out until your Sunday night. I’ve agreed no electronic devices once we’re at the airport :)
I would like to have another game with everyone who is interested, but won’t be able to start until about your October 15. If that’s a problem – no worries! I can sit the next one out.
Regardless, I can research scenarios everyone can (probably) play and post some ideas tomorrow if you want to run another, GM Aarvid.

GM Aarvid |

Eadie with luck this could be over and all of you enslaved by Sunday so we will not have to bot you in combat. :-)
I am running a low level table for GD4\
We can see how it goes and if anyone is interested in October.

![]() |

That sounds good to me! Apart from the whole enslavement thing, of course!
I have done a little research on what we all might be able to play. Here goes...
Season 7: Ironbound Schism (7-11) Brand New, no reviews. Strong authors.
Season 6: Darkest Abduction (7-11). Reviews say cool Ustalav flavor. Sub-par investigation mechanics. I think a good GM and players could past all that, especially in PbP format. Goodies for Sovereign Court and Scarab Sages.
Season 6: Tapestry's Toil (5-9). Pretty good reviews. Good story but long. Hints of complex setups and drawn-out fights. Goodies for Grand Lodge faction.
Season 5: Vengeance at Sundered Crag. (7-11) Haven't heard much about this one. New author. Wilderness chase type mission?? Has goodies for Grand Lodge faction.
I assume there will be new scenarios out at the end of September too. But nothing has been posted by Paizo about them yet. Can you say anything about them VC Caradeum?
If there is some interest for a mid-October game, I am happy to PM people to see what's cookin' then.

GM Aarvid |

She was a tough one to beat with all her buffs. I was not crazy about the whip and thought she was better with a 2nd scimitar, but whip is for flavor I guess.
Just a bit more to wrap up here. I will start working on the chronicles and should easily be in place by the 19th for those of you on GD4 schedule.

![]() |

That was exciting! I was just about to declare my last smite on the screaming illusion, but Maximo's LG alignment sort of worked to his advantage because he usually waits for an enemy to attack before bringing on the smite. Without it, he would have had a much harder time hitting lamia.
I think that whip made the combat a lot more interesting. It made us think a little more tactically, and opened up opportunities to the fight beyond a straight up slug-fest.
Too bad Eadie missed the last round there. I hope I did her a little justice in my post.
Thanks for running this Aarvid.
