_Experiment Three-Two-Two |
Experimentia takes the lead, her keen eyes looking for traps, even as she remains as quiet as a cat.
Exploration mode: Stealth; Trapfinding active
stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Huh, thinks he can teach me about traps?
Tsvy |
Tsvy follows the others, hoping that they'll notice and disable the traps. It isn't cowardice. It's letting the ones good at this stuff do what they're good at.
Meanwhile, he attempts to cover their tracks in case their being followed by ... who knows what.
Playtest feedback: Contradictory guidance. Exploration Mode Covering Tracks (p 317) says "You cover the group’s tracks to prevent pursuit, rolling a Survival check to determine how successful you are." But the Survival Skill, Trained Actions, Cover Tracks, (p 159) says "You cover your tracks, moving at half your Speed. You don’t need to roll a Survival check to cover your tracks, but anyone tracking you must exceed your Survival DC if it is higher than the normal DC to track." (emphasis added) So, do you want a roll, or not?
Cwethan's Iconic |
Mal keeps a weather eye out for any nasty looking surprises. I'll be damned if a kobold's gonna teach me about watching for traps!
Arykir |
Arykir follows along with the group with his eyes peeled - he keeps his bow in hand ready to draw and fire if the need presents itself.
GM Redelia |
You move forward, Fazgyn staying just behind you and watching you carefully.
3d20 ⇒ (7, 10, 12) = 29
Suddenly, Fazgyn begins to scold you, calling you careless and unable to listen. He then points to a trap right in front of you which some of you were about to step onto. "Now that you've seen it, I don't suppose any of you know how to disarm it?" Fazgyn asks sarcastically.
If any of you are trained in Thievery, you can try to disable this trap. Since that action is not labelled secret, you may roll it yourself.

Experimentia sneers. "Of course I saw it... I was just curious about whether you did."
She steps up and tries to disarm the horrible trap. "See, loose block, a bit of gum and a wire here..."
thievery: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
If that didn't set it off, she continues
"Hmm still lose. PAss me that file would you, I think a bit of trimming might help."
thievery: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Joli, The Artist |
Joli looks through the tools and finds the file which she then hands to Experimentia.
Peering over the gnome, she asks “How does this work?”
GM Redelia |
With some effort, Experimentia gets the trap door to collapse with no one on it so that everyone can see it to safely walk around.
You and the kobolds continue on and reach a junction of sewer tunnels. "We're close to where the Dragon Sharks set up an outpost, so it’s time to split up. You to that way, and we will go this way. By attacking the Dragon Sharks separately, we can split the trespassers’ attention and keep them from mounting a coordinated defense. Remember to be on the lookout for traps, because this time I won’t be around to look out for them!"
Please tell me what you're doing as you continue moving forward.
Tsvy |
Tsvy listens as the others work on the trap, but he keeps his distance from them, just in case. And he keeps his focus behind them. Just in case, also.
When Exterimuntilia calls it clear, he resumes his duty covering their tracks as they move forward.
Sounds to me like kobolds are pretty sneaky with all this trap stuff. Don't want 'em sneakin' up on us.
_Experiment Three-Two-Two |
Exprementia takes the lead, skulking through the shadows - her eyes open for the types of traps that kobolds have been pointing out.
"I suggest you all stay a little bit back, unless you are stealthy. No sense in alerting anyone ahead of us to our arrival."
Exploration mode: Stealth; Trapfinding means she gets a free attempt to spot any traps. Stealth +5, Perception +4
Cwethan's Iconic |
Not willing to have Expialimundia as the only one keeping an eye out, Mal also watches for any unusual stonework or other tell-tale signs of danger. Keeping to Perception
Arykir |
Arykir continues to move with the party, taking turns at looking in all directions.
Sticking to Perception also. You can assume this unless I say otherwise.
GM Redelia |
3d20 ⇒ (5, 12, 10) = 27
You move forward, Experimentia followed by the stealthy Tuk. Tsvy brings up the rear, with the others in between. I guessed as to your marching order based on what was said. You don't notice anything until suddenly a series of jagged blades fly out from the wall towards Experimentia. Several clang loudly off the opposite wall, so you're pretty sure that anyone ahead knows you are coming.
attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Ten damage to Experimentia. Any reactions or changes to what you are doing when I move you forward?
Cwethan's Iconic |
Does it look like the trap is out of ammo? Now that we can see it?
GM Redelia |
To keep us moving, I'll assume Experimentia tries to disablet the trap.
thievery: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Experimentia leans over and pokes carefully at a few tiles on the walls. She seems satisfied that the trap is disabled.
Does anyone want to do anything else, including healing Experimentia from the previous trap, before I move us on?

Bored.
Still bored. No one's gonna be able to follow us through the muck of this stupid sewer anyway. At least Miss Joli's ....
The realization that everyone is prepping for combat jolts Tsvy from his reverie. He draws his greatsword and moves forward around the corner of the tunnel intending to get into the front line of the fight.
He hunkers down slightly along the wall of the tunnel, careful to keep his feet on the ledge and not give away his presence with a man-sized splash. The green and gray ooze of the tunnel walls begins to seep through the stitches in his hide armor.
No amount of bathing is gonna get this out. Oh well....
Interact action to draw sword, double move around the corner.

Tsvy looks back at Arykir as the arrow whizzes past and ends the first kobold to turn the corner. "Nice. Thanks."
Then the magic pellets slam into him. He grunts in pain, but all it does is make him... angry.
Tsvy steps forward along the walkway, then drops down into the canal. As he does so, the edge of his sword begins to crackle with golden electricity and his short black hair stands on end as if full of static. He looks the kobold leader in the eye.

Botting Experimentia
Experimentia crosses the passage to get right between Blue and Yellow. With Blue flanked by Tuk, she makes liberal use of her shortsword on it's tailbone.
We will just make them learn not to leave their flank open -- although hopefully it is a very short lesson.
Short Sword, Flank: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 Against Flat Footed since it is Flanked
Piercing damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Sneak attack damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Second attack
Short Sword, Flank: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 - 4 = 18 Against Flat Footed since it is Flanked
Piercing damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Sneak attack damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
If by some chance the first attack hit and killed blue, the second would be against Yellow, there would be no flanking so they wouldn't be flat footed and no sneak attack damage
GM Redelia |
Experimentia's blade flashes twice, and two kobolds slide into the muck, dead.
The remaining kobold follower sends a pellet flying towards Tsvy.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Grinning now towards the last kobold, "You need some schoolin' too? Tuk smart, Tuk teaches, unless you surrender?"
Being able to play an authentic murdergobbo is fun =P
GM Redelia |
Joli's spell does not seem to impact the kobold caster.
reflex save, kobold leader: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
reflex save, kobold follower: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Mal's burst of electricity sizzles on both kobolds. The leader seems completely unaffected, but the follower cries out. (half damage)
Tuk stabs the sorcerous kobold twice, and he falls over, dead.
One kobold left, hurt, with Arkyr, Experimentia, and Tsvy up.
