Ok race is now solidified as half elf, +2 saves vs enchantments, two favored classes in gesault,
Immune to sleep effects (flavor wise I probably don't need to sleep much, a rather helpful effect)

Yes, you could.
You need an exotic saddle, and take a -5 (i think) penalty or ride, but that's pretty much it.
I had assumed that you got the bird for that purpose specifically. . . .

An exotic saddle would cost the same as normal-

Have you done your magic item yet? Perhaps a saddle with ride bonuses and bags of holding could be it if you haven't. :)
He has- bracers improving perception, to hit with bows, and bow CRT range.

It costs ten for a normal. Balanced between small and exotic it is still ten.
You now start with 5 gp, but a flying mount is totally worth it.
