On the other side of the pit, the tunnel seems to continue in a similar fashion as it has been until now. After about 30' it takes a turn, so nothing further can be seen.

When you search through Janira's bag you find the following:

"Maybe one of you could hold it while someone who is nimble climbs down." suggets Belinda.

"I'm not ahh, very talented that way though."

She looks at Bertie.

"How are we to get you across?"

In the meantime she borrows a rope and attaches some bits of wood to the end to make a hook and tries to fish out the cloth.

When Arcanos looks around, he sees no place to tie the rope. It might be possible to hold the rope steady with some strong men (or women), while a lighter person descents. As Belinda suggested.

You manage to create a hook, but the the rope and wood together have not enough weight to sink to the bottom of the pit.

Kharg looks at Belinda. Well, we could tie a rope around you and lower you down. Then you could get whatever that is at the bottom of the pit.

Kharg takes another look at the pit. Then again, it doesn't look that deep. I can climb down, then climb up the other side and lower a rope so I can help everyone up. How does that sound? Audyn, are you any good at climbing?

Taking my strength bonus an armor penalty into consideration, I am at a +3 bonus to climbing. I am willing to climb down and back up the other side unless someone has a better skill check or some kind of item.

While at the bottom of the pit Olivia decides to inspect the item in the water, also checking it for magic.

Who is holding the rope on the first side?
We have Kharg, Arcanos and Olivia down in the pit. You can use the same climb check to go down as to go up.

The pit is about 20ft deep, the lower 10ft is filled with water. Since the pit is only 10ft wide, you can push-n-float to the other side with no problem. The 10ft above very black water does seem intimidating to just jump in.

Olivia can't figure out what the item is, it is magic though, the aura is faint.

As Olivia dives down, she collects what seems to be a cloak of some sort. She climbs out of the pit, holding up the cloak and checking it out in the dim light of the glowing fungus. Its made of some hard wool, with specks of sliver and steel woven into it.

Kharg, doubtful of his climbing abilities tries to get up as well and finds the climb with the aid of the rope securely attached a breeze.

Audyn also makes it back up. He takes his time again, shivering from the cold of the water and his fear of heights. He's closely followed by Arcanos, in case Audyn needs help.

Belinda urges her Bear Bertie to jump in and climb out at the other side. Before doing so herself. I'm taking 10

Bertie looks as his halfling companion jumps down and swims across and gets back out again. He sees Audyn shivering from the cold and takes a couple steps back and jumps to the other side taking 10 on the jump. I know that not what you asked him, but he understood you wanted him to follow ... Also, I know you're changing into a swashbuckler, but Bertie seriously lacks some stats (tricks, skills and feat)

After about 30ft the tunnel bends and the line of sight with the pit is lost. A long, 3 foot wide wooden plank rests against the cave wall.

The tunnel continues on, leading deeper beneath the Kortos Mounts until eventually open into a large cavern. What must have once been beautifully carved reliefs and inscriptions have since weathered heavily, their features dulled and softened to the point that it is hard to distinguish what they once depicted. You note however that they are different in style when compared to the petroglyphs you encountered so far in the tunnels. A wide tunnel exits the cavern on its far side and blue-burning torches line the passageway's halls.

Sorry for the late reply guy, I'm not so well atm

With the help of each other, you manage to decipher and understand some of the reliefs and inscriptions. The general reliefs and images seem to tell a mutual story and you recognize are the History and Future of Humanity, the principle holy text of Aroden, which some of you have been taught of during your education.

A first you recognize is an image and story of a beggar. A bit further on a farmer is depicted, with next to it a shepherd. It is at that point you recognize the images as part of Aroden's mythology.
You also identify that the sections of the holy text depicted are slightly different than those that appear in the known version of the History and Future of Humanity, suggesting that these might represent an earlier version of the work.

As Belinda approaches the torch, she notices it doesn't feel particularly warm. Not cold, but the flames doesn't seem to give off heat.

"Magical torch.." notes Belinda. Carefully noting it down in her notebook.

She goes back and makes sure she has this version of Aroden's story down right.

"Wow, a different version of The History of Humanity! This'll make it to The Chronicles for sure."

Once she has everything noted down, she'll grab Bertie and head down the lit corridor, stopping to take a torch with her if she can reach one.

The soft light of the surrounding fungus mixes with the flickering glow of the nearby torches to reveal a grand chamber. A large pool of water along the chamber’s southern edge reflects the blue and green radiance to illuminate the massive stalactites that cling to the ceiling overhead. Two other tunnels branch off from this area, leading to the east and west.
Rising up from the pool is a column of rock with steeply sloped sides and a flat top, as if someone had sawn off the top of a massive stalagmite. A miniature city carved from this same stone occupies nearly the entire surface. Tiny trinkets such as ancient coins, polished semiprecious stones, and ornately braided loops of string are scattered throughout the diorama, and pale cave frogs clamber atop it. The smooth cavern floor is covered in gravel and pebbles along the edge of the pool, and several foot-long centipedes prowl among the gravel in their search for prey.

DC 10 Knowledge (engineering, geography, history, local, or religion):
You can identify the diorama as an intricately detailed model of Absalom, easily identifiable by its Starstone Cathedral. This representation of the City at the Center of the World and the Inner Sea also acts as an altar to the dead god Aroden that might have retained enough power to bless a few more pilgrims.

Perception DC10:
As you around the miniature city, you see icons depicting Aroden's mythology as in the previous cave, each with a short description on rituals. You cannot make them all out, but you can all recognize the following:

The Beggar is depicted kneeling with an alms bowl
raised high, representing Aroden espousing humility in
all, lest they forget their shared humanity. To complete
the Beggar’s ritual, a PC must kneel before the city, admit
a personal shortcoming to another PC, or perform some
other act of humility beside the pool.

The Craftsman is depicted creating shoes, pots, jewelry, and other moveable goods, referencing Aroden’s delight at seeing his people express their ingenuity in creating new products from raw materials. To complete the Craftsman’s ritual, a PC must fashion a very simple
object with a successful DC 5 Craft check and place it in the miniature city; this area has a few stones and a small amount of clay that the PC might use in addition to anything he has with him.

The Farmer is depicted plowing four lines in a field, retelling Aroden’s prophecy that humankind would prepare the rocky earth for planting and over generations wear the pebbles down into fertile soil. To complete the Farmer’s ritual, a PC must use a finger, a scabbard, or another object to form at least four furrows in the gravel near the pool.

The Shepherd is depicted herding animals out of a crowded city to the pastures beyond, just as Aroden blessed leaders with the foresight to direct people to the tasks and places that best suit them. To complete the Shepherd’s ritual, a PC must spook the frogs crawling about the miniature city and make them jump off into the water—this requires a successful DC 10 Handle Animal, Intimidate, or wild empathy check.

Perception DC15:
The cloths the man are wearing seem from the same material as the cloak you found earlier

He seems a bit intimidates by so many unfamiliar faces. He patiently awaits you to finish your questions, which he seems to lip-read instead of hear and responds:

"My name is Uori, this cavern complex has one of the purest water sources on this island. Our people revere its purity and it has now become a sacred place for us. It was once sacred to Aroden, the dead god of humanity, as well, but over the past century, the carvings in the nearby room have weathered and melted, and our people think that soon Aroden’s influence will have faded completely."

She kneels next to the pool and confesses to Audyn
"I want to be like my big brother. He is out confident, so sure of himself, and so ... coordinated. Would you help me?"

And I want to rebuild into swashbuckler :-)

Then she takes some sticks and fashions a small shepherds crook for one of the figures in the city.
craft model: 1d20 ⇒ 10
It's not the best, but it'll do. She then uses it to chase the frogs into the water, obviously having some fun
handle animal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
The frogs don't respond well though to the improvised figure. So Belinda settles for making some fields with her fingers is the gravel.

"This is fun. If this was closer and there were not Minotaur's around, I could take a school of little kids up here for a great days play."

The gillman catches Kharg's attention when he mentions other invaders in the cave. He listens intently for an answer after Audyn asks the gillman if he has encountered other creatures here.

"I haven't traveled there for a while. Our people stay away from these area's, they're too dangerous."

"In that direction there were restless spirits, while in the other cave dwelling creatures lived."

Olivia shows the gillman the cloak she picked up earlier.

"Is this yours? We found it in a pit."

She will return it to the gillman if it's his.
