Krakos is unable to narrow down the specifics but he does understand some of the haunt's workings. 1) Destroying the smaller crystals will weak the haunt. 2) Only damaging the central cyclone will destroy the haunt.

She then opens up a potion vial, drops a tablet in and the contents vaporize into a pleasant smelling cloud.

Everybody gets Resist Electricity 10 for the next 30 minutes

Volatile Vaporizer (2nd level) If Jamila drops this green pill into a 2nd-level potion, the potion bubbles and froths into a 10-foot radius cloud. Any creature within the cloud when it appears gains the benefits of the potion.

Smoke curls out of Ember's nose before she sneezes on the crystal dealing 1d4 ⇒ 2 fire damage in a 10-ft cone. DC 13 Ref save halves the damage.


You only have one round to act after the haunt starts to manifest. I'm going to assume that during that time Jamila gathered everyone to use her potion.

A second later the crystals in each of the rooms buzz and hum with electricity, sending arcs into the air as spectral djinn move about area and raise their hands as if invoking some supernatural power. The crystals disperse a network of lightning bolts throughout the entire tower including the party.

Electricity Damage (reflex 18 for half): 8d8 ⇒ (2, 8, 5, 6, 6, 7, 5, 5) = 44 - keep in mind the resistance Jamila just gave you.

Realizing the danger the haunt presents, the party splits up and goes to work.

Octarus's blast of water isn't fully effective but it seems to partially destabilize the swirling winds.

Ember rushes closer to the one of the crystals and hits it with a puff of flame but the heat isn't intense enough to damage it. You didn't overcome its hardness. =(

Planes:
The heart of the haunt seems to have a unique vulnerability to elemental and alignment-based magic. It only takes damage from spells with the chaotic, earth, evil, fire, lawful, or water descriptors, as well as from the physical attacks of Ayrzul’s faithful.

Everyone but Octarus and Ember are up.

Its a known issue with the website. They are working on fixing it.

Biting his lip as the lightning surges through him, it takes a pretty hefty toll.

Looking around at the haunt, he tries to examine it if it will fire again.

Krakos's weapon connects with the cyclone with an impact that can be felt across the entire structure. The cyclone intensifies for a moment and then disappears entirely. At the same time the crystals in each of the rooms shatter and their fragments blow away on unseen winds.

Encounter over.

In place of the cyclone, a palpitating 10-foot-diameter ring of hundreds of colors appears near where the tower’s roof once existed.

Digging a crumpled up scroll out of his backpack he'll quickly cast it, sighing as its restorative magics does its work.

We'll assume Ember explored the other rooms while the party was healing up.

Two of the rooms appear to be have been designed for meditation and are decorated with complicated reliefs. In one room, the walls depict a city made of ice and djinn bustling around a massive spherical building surrounded by dozens of similar but smaller round buildings. In another relief, a group of mephits emerges from a cloud dragon’s breath. The most striking scene depicts an immense being with the body of a serpent spun from storm clouds, the head of a lion with a mane of lightning, and hundreds of clawed feet. His expression is approving and content as he gazes upon the other creatures.

history, planes, or religion 25:
The lion-serpent is Ranginori, a benevolent lord of air who was trapped and exiled ages ago.

In the other meditation room, the lion-serpent appears again, this time wreathed in an aura of lightning with an expression of fury. Djinn, mephits, wysps, and other creatures of air fly by his side, all surrounded by a raging cyclone. Hordes of creatures made of stone rush forward, only to be sent flying as they approach the cyclone.

In another room Ember finds dragon statuettes made of multicolored crystal hover in this room. Its walls, floors, and ceiling are covered in a hovering layer of small crystal fragments. Nothing in this room appears of interest or value.

The last room is a library. The shelves hover and hang from the walls at a variety of artistic angles. Each shelf contains a minor magical effect that looks to direct gravity toward its back, both preventing the contents from tumbling out, as well as preventing the books from degrading over time. Poking about Ember finds volumes with titles such as Breathing, Volume XI: Concerning the Respiration of Mephits and Fruit of the Forest of Oils: A Treatise on the Safe Harvesting of Unknown Alchemical Reagents Suspended in Water.

Is there any containers big enough so submerge myself in water (after casting create water to fill it.) About a minute and a half, and I can heal up if there is somewhere to do that.

Finished exploring the ruined tower, the party ascends into the yawning portal...

Passing into the other side, color-streaked blackness expands to fill the entire sky. Above, a ring of electricity hovers in midair. Brightly colored formations shaped like cracks running through stone pepper the sky around it. Below, a forty-foot-wide stone platform bears a runic circle. Smaller pieces of stone are connected to this platform with sturdy iron chains.

History or Linguistics 20 (Jamila gets +5 to this):
The runes on the circle represent the seven runelords of Thassilon. The one in the center represents evocation magic, wrath, and the Runelord Alaznist.

Due to the nature of this place, everyone but Octaris and Zephyr of the Forgotten Sun are slightly impeded, taking a –2 penalty on all Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma-based checks.

A tentacled beast floats near the runic circle. Floating near it are several tiny motes of animated elemental energy. Displeased by the party's presence, it attacks!
