I don't tend to ever use my coin on myself; I prefer to give that re-roll away so someone else can have the glory haha.
Ember - The Chronicler |
After several moments staring at the iconography, Ember lights up and says, "I see! This is an ancient place dedicated to Ranginori. He's a benevolent lord of the air. See? Right here? That lion-serpent? That's him."
"How interesting..."
Zephyr - The Storm |
Wow - those rolls!
"Ranginori? We can consult the libraries and think of what happened here to better understand how to avoid it happening again in the future..."
DM Feral |
Returning to the library, the party looks for information on Ranginori and his connection to this ruined tower.
Taking your time, the party's able to find several volumes detailing Ranginori’s form, prayers, and hundreds of tales of Ranginori’s acts that portray him as a benevolent leader — albeit acts last performed millennia ago. The volumes also speak of an ever-shifting city at the center of his realm, where his worshipers could freely visit.

"Hey this book is a diary of a Djinn! Explains those bracers perhaps, anyway, turns out this library belonged to a djinni named Pahwal ijil Ranginori, who was so devoted a servant and worshipper of Ranginori that he was granted the immense honor of taking Ranginori’s name as a part of his own."
DM Feral |
That's pretty much all there is to learn at this point.
Returning to the outside of the tower, the party activates the signal flare they were given by their daredevil airship captain.
Within an hour, Nix and her piecemeal vessel appear. The gnome is all smiles as it seems the party's efforts have worked and the currents that were in violent disarray have returned to their natural states.
Back in Armun Kelisk, word quickly spreads among airship captains that the formerly dangerous region of sky has calmed down. As the ones responsible, this affords all members of the party new measures of respect.
Shortly after returning to town, the party is summoned to Ashasar favorite establishment again.
“I knew I could count on your team to handle this dangerous task. Congratulations on a job well done. How did your mission go?”

Zephyr - The Storm |
"Indeed, I believe we did. We found that the source of the disturbance was connected to Ranginori's and his connection to this ruined tower. Tn the tower we also found a library that once belonged to a djinni named Pahwal ijil Ranginori, a devoted a servant and worshipper of Ranginori who was given the immense honour of taking Ranginori’s name as a part of his own".
"We also uncovered several volumes detailing Ranginori’s form, prayers, and hundreds of tales of Ranginori’s acts that portrayed him as a benevolent leader in his day, a millennia ago. They also spoke of an ever-shifting city at the center of his realm, where his worshipers could freely visit"
"With the elements rebalanced, the energies coalesced down into a single gem and the order once more is restored - I believe it should all be calm now, though warrants a more... scholarly investigation"
Ember - The Chronicler |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"The tale is a long one, and we accomplished much. After we set out from your meeting, we found ourselves treating with many captains who had sailed across the land. We met with the eccentric gnome, Nix! She's a true daredevil in her own right and we sailed across the skies on her mechanical airship. Truth be told, it was a complex machine but it listened obediently to Nix's commands."
"It was several days into our travels that we ran into trouble. The instruments on the ship began to spin wildly, and it seemed like our troubles were to be for naught... but Nix provided us with a small ship of our own, and Rhyol was able to help guide us. However, we found ourselves in the storm that had vexed Nix so..."
"In that storm, we were capsized and lost nearly all of our gear. To our tremendous luck, there were several wyrds who sought to play with us. As they tossed our gear around in play, I despaired. I could never grab the books from the wyrd - my arms are simply too small. But I realized that I could turn it into a game, and raced with the books back to the ship. We were able to recover our gear and continue our travels."
"When we reached our destination, the area where the strong winds came from, we found a marble tower. All seemed normal, except for the cyclone that filled the central tower. It was protected by a strange ward, which lead us to the examine the rest of the structure."
"Oh, and what glories that structure held! There were pipes with many wonderful and strange scents! There was crystals the glowed and shocked us - that was less wonderful, but we managed to prevent them from hurting us again. When we discharged the crystals, the ward around the cyclone went down and revealed a portal to another dimension."
"I don't rightly know what dimension we were in, but there was a naunet protean - beast made of pure chaos. It had in thrall wysps for each element, and it was all that I could do to break them from enslavement to its will. Rhyol and Jamila and Krakos slew it with force, and we returned to this world. The cyclone and portal both disappeared. We were successful."
"With the crisis managed, we took care in examining the tower and found that it was dedicated to an ancient being, Ranginori, who had been ensorcelled aeons ago. It is quite a strange coincidence... but stranger things have happened."
"There ends my tale."

Nodding along as his allies tell their version of the story, "it truly was a remarkable journey, full of harrowing experiences. I must say I'll be happy to find my feet on solid ground again soon, maybe a nice damp cave ceiling above my head. Above all we maintained elemental Harmony and brought balance back to this slice of the elemental plane of air."

"Oh, and we met a lovely Captain. The right choice. Everything was in balance" Zephyr confirms the Bards Tale.
DM Feral |
Ashasar listens patiently to Krakos and Zephyr's report. He's visibly impressed by tiny Ember's stirring oration.
"Well I must thank you again. You really have achieved something remarkable. More than solving the problem, you've proven that the Concordance can truly accomplish miracles when we work together. I admit I'm particularly interested in that tower - I believe its connection to Ranginori and it's proximity to the rift you sealed are not a coincidence. More research is necessary."
"I trust I can call on you for whatever comes next?"
That's it folks. I'll be working on reporting and chronicles later today. Please post your email address in discussion or PM it to me.
