Move action for Bullseye Shot (+4), then Bow attack (+7) with Point Blank Shot (+1) and Shaken condition (-2) preferably against goblin in fine leather.
I think I added that up right.

Viorr charges forward and misses the Goblin keeping Carduus at least with an ally at his side.
Carduus goes on full defense against the enemy Goblins.
Electric Eye moves to take Carduus' other flank but his attack unfortunately misses the slippery Goblins.
Kaine's shot hits the Goblin who is able to attack Carduus, despite scoring a hit with an arrow, the Goblin does not fall.

Dev fires a ray of fiery energy at the same Goblin that Kaine struck but it misses high.
Taryn meanwhile streaks towards the Fighter that Viorr attacks and literally smashes the Goblin to pulp against the wall.
Beylinda fires her crossbow at the Goblin wearing the leather armor and still the Goblin does not fall but it is grievously injured.
Round 2
Jiri fires his bow at the mouthpiece and his blow lands in the creatures shoulder.
The Goblins strike back.
The spell wielder steps backwards and fires a force missile at Taryn. Taryn takes 7 damage.
The warrior attacks Electric Eye and the dogslicer bounces off of the Warforged's metallic hide.
The Rogue fires back at Kaine but the shot hits the ceiling and falls to the floor useless.

With heed to little else but the battle itself, Dev opens the entirety of his mind to the goblins, allowing it to fill pure terror. As he starts to close off the connection, Dev notices an unhealthy amount of psychic backlash building up in his own mind and opts to push that towards the goblin as well.
Chaotic Surge: 1d4 ⇒ 1 Expending Focus to pay for Wild Surge and manifesting 'Unearthly Terror' at ML 1. DC 15 Will save or be Shaken for 1 round.
Roll a 1 or 2 and suffer Psychic Enervation (50% chance): 1d4 ⇒ 2 Enervated
Using 'Vent Agony' since I'm suffering Enervation. DC 15 Will Save or the Goblin suffers the effects of my enervation along with me. In this case, that's being dazed until its next turn. (Effects are based on the Chaotic Surge roll.) I, fortunately, am immune to effects of my enervation excepting HP & PP loss, thanks to 'Mental Equilibrium'.

Electric Eye notes the same thing that Carduus does, Beylinda steps over and pulls some filthy carpeting up from the ground. A grate sits underneath with a handle to lift it up.
Beylinda turns to the group, "It seems this dig does not end where the Goblins wished for interlopers to believe it did. It seems that there is more to this pace than meets the eye.
Is everyone alright to continue?"
Taryn shivers in anticipation, "I'm just getting started".
The Goblins have very little in the way of treasure, the Adept, or whatever he was, had some spell components and 37 silver. The two warriors had dogslicers and poorly made short bows with 11 arrows between them total and 77 copper. The rogue though had a masterwork shortbow and 10 well made arrows in addition to a finely crafted short sword though it was not mastwrwork. That goblin had 20 silver and 35 gold in its belt pouch. The Goblins also had food that most other races would find inedible along with cooking utensils. This appeared to be a place where they set up to observe people through the illusionary wall that they set up.
Unusual behavior for Goblins to be sure.

Electric takes a step forward. "Agreed terms: walk first. Requirements: provide a source of light."
He stands before the opening, waiting for someone who can shed light to the situation... literally.
Taryn d'Lyrandar |

Taryn fidgets with his large hammer as Viorr fumbles with the torch. While he waits, he rubs and stretches his left shoulder in the hopes that it might banish some of the soreness caused by the adept's spell.
Is he seriously having that much trouble or does he merely intend to go first but doesn't want to say so... Carduus has already shown that he can conjure magical light...
When Viorr 'gives up' and offers to go first he nods in agreement. "I'll be right behind you," he offers falling in line, "El, why don't you cover the rear instead? You swing that sword fairly well, you can make sure we don't get overrun from behind."
I need to update my banner still. Sorry. I know this was months ago now but did we have a chance to spend our money from the last job or am I still wearing my original gear?
edit: I saw a post from tDB that we would have time to buy stuff before the next adventure, so I'm updating my profile with the new gear I mentioned when we got paid. If that's not the case please let me know and I'll switch back.

After being offered to go at the rear, Electric gestures in a manner one would say looks like a shrug. "Terms of the agreement changed. Input new terms: guard the rear." He stands on his sword, waiting, while the rest descend to the night-black pitch.
Dev Blake |

Dev takes some time after the fight and is uncharacteristically silent as he refocused himself, and prepared his Inerson Arbor. Then, once the lighting situation is sorted, Dev squirms his way to the hole, begging for a peek into the pit. He starts rattling off a list of things it could lead to under his breath, clearly excited for the unknown.
"I don't mind following these two then, not one bit I don't," he says.
"Tick tock, gents. Nothing exciting up here-- anymore, anyway.
Viorr |
To be clear, I meant to indicate that he does, indeed light a torch and THEN offer to lead.
Viorr slings his blade into its large back-mounted holster and descends. If he reaches the bottom without incident, he peers around, torch aloft in one hand, pulling his light mace with the other.

Taryn looks at the loquacious human with a raised eyebrow and then at all the new additions to the venture, almost as if noticing them for the first time.
I need to be more attentive to what's going on. The hope of finally learning something about Haldoth's disappearance lifts my spirits, but it's also consumed my thoughts... how long have we been at this? half an hour, perhaps a full hour, and I don't know any of these people's names... at least I know the metal one's decent with his sword, and the sneaky one's fair with a bow... we can't let this turn into a mess like that massive group did, though... I better speak up and show some leadership before it's too late...
"Alright," he says, nodding, "If we're going to be successful working as a group we need to organize a bit. Viorr will take point, clearly (since he's beginning to climb down as I speak) and I'll go next, in case he gets into trouble. You can go next, sure, uhhh Deb was it? And then Carduus in the center so he can spread around healing more easily."
Looking at the dwarf he pauses for a moment. "I'm sorry, dwarf," he offers, "I don't recall your name at all... and, I'm not sure what you can do... but I know this guy--Kaine, right?--is a decent shot, so why don't you follow Carduus and, Kaine, when you're not sneaking you can follow the dwarf. El, keep guarding the rear and I'll input some new directions when necessary."
Heading down the hole after Viorr, he adds, "Let's be off then. Carefully."
Kaine Skyreach |

Kaine nods in agreement with Taryn. He wasn't used to working in a group, but it was nice, and he appreciated it. Having a leader to follow worked well for him.
"I'll be ready with my bow - and also, my bloodline makes me an excellent climber if the need arises. Lead on."
Kaine waits his turn and then follows the others down.
Carduus the Bemourned |

"Whatever you say, Elf-hammer," Carduus grumbles, finding Beylinda's eye and gesturing for her to move in front of him with a shrug. Fella seems to have finally gotten out of his own head. Let's hope he stays sharp if we find his brother in a less than ideal condition. The bandaged man waits his turn, refreshing the magical illumination on his shield before heading down the hole.

"It's Taryn," the muscly half-elf replies, pausing his descent to offer his hand to the dwarf, "and, in terms of abilities that are relevant to our current situation, I mostly crush things with my hammer. My dragonmark lets me influence the weather a little bit too, which has come in handy on more than one occasion."
Is Beylinda with us? Or was that a typo from Carduus? I thought she was at table 1 and posted in our gameplay because she forgot she was supposed to use recruitment for that?

Marching Order: (1) Viorr, (2) Taryn, (3) Dev (4) Beylinda, (5) Carduus, (6) Kaine (7) Jirrik (8) Double E.
As Viorr reaches the bottom with his light source he discovers that the way is cleared by someone with at least rudimentary knowledge of mining and excavating. The walls are carved smooth as are the floors though some debris from the job does remain behind to get underfoot. Every 10' the ceiling are reinforced by sturdy wooden planks of darkwood with criss cross formations above to further strengthen any problem areas in the ceiling.
The path carved through is not a straight one and it meanders a bit from left to right before it finally straightens out proceeding due south. The tunnel there comes to a stop and turns sharply to the east. At the edge of the light are yet another set up rungs that lead up.
No light or sound (that you can see or hear anyway) come from the rungs beckoning you up...
The map is updated. I stopped the group within sight of the ladder from a narrative sense but not from a map location sense.
