"Slashing. How far can it stretch, anyw-"
Fort Save: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 2 = 21
"That answered... my question..." The Maiden feels herself fading in and out of consciousness.
Carlaya |
"Charis! Are you alright?" Carlaya zips back towards her. "Rags, come on, we need you. Doesn't that ooze look tasty? Be a good boy and get him."
Heh heh... I should really treat my pets with a little more love...

Xeram |
Rags has no clue what Carlaya is aiming for, it sees just its mistress and two humanoids that are not lunch.

Old Grog |
Axe in hand, Grog waits for the beast to approach! Going to defer. I thought about a readied action but it has reach so I'd eat an AOO. Given Grog's current HP I'd rather use 5' steps plus full attack.
Renee le Rapide |
Sorry, the site's been down a lot lately...
"Slashing weapons? Are you sure? Penses-tu my arrows would not work?" Renee asks, not quite willing to give up on his trusty bow. He also tries to remember what he has learned of such creatures.
Kn. dungeoneering, monster lore: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 2 = 23
Still keeping his bow in hand, Renee prays for a favor from Desna, to help him fight this vile creature better.
Cast Divine favor
Xeram |
Casting a buff, Renee sees the threat creep around the corner.
Anything in particular you want to know, Renee?
You know already they are vulnerable to S type attacks from Carlaya.
The ooze creeps around the corner, menacingly.

Ed Earl draws his greatsword. "I knew going down there would be a bad idea. Come back here, I will slash it if it gets close!"
I assume Ed can't move forward due to the failed Will Save, so he will ready an action to attack the goo if it gets in range.

Any special powers we should be aware of?
Xeram |
From Charis' appearance and the nauseated look on her face, it obviously does something to someone hit by it.
Roiling oils are best not fought with fire, as that both delays them but also forms a formidable hazard to those near it.
Carlaya |
Carlaya moves back near Rags. "What the hell is wrong with you? Snap out of it." She whacks him on the head as a free action, and then casts Gravity Bow.
The Maiden of Jewels |
Charis struggles to move past her allies, using her advanced insight to evade the slime.
AC 22 due to Mobility feat.
"Don't give me that look, Zira."
Xeram |
As Charis moves away, the ooze gets an aoo.
Slam, darn that reach: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18 3d6 + 15 ⇒ (4, 2, 6) + 15 = 27
With the force seemingly in it, that would have been a fatal hit, but she dodges it in time to seek the safety of the other side of the room, into the lit corridor.
Zira hits the ooze with a frosty globe, 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14, and it suddenly tightens. Staggered. I don't recall the DC but 14 certainly doesn't cut it.

"I shall try my arrows nonetheless!" Renee claims, and launches a couple of arrows from his bow.

Damage, PBS, DA, DF: 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 + 4 + 3 = 14
If the arrows prove to be useless against the ooze, he'll have to think of something else.
"Oh, mes amies, do not use fire against this enemy!"
Xeram |
The arrows are a clear hit. Renee had expected they'd have stuck in the ooze's body deeper, still.

The Maiden of Jewels |
Bless you, Abaddar. The Maiden makes a silent prayer to the forces above as she gasps for air. Clearly some divine force moved the ooze away from her.
Old Grog |
Grog eyes the onrushing ooze with disgust, muttering "Ugh! Guess I gotta get this done..."
He hefted his axe testing the weight before stepping forwards and slashing at it wildly!

That is 2 too much. :/

Old Grog |
Grog slumps on the floor dead. Good luck folks.
Carlaya |
"Grog!" Carlaya shouts into the hallway. "First Charis, now you? This doesn't look good. I blame Rags, naturally."
GM, is the gray triangle a wall too? Trying to determine if I can hit the ooze from where I am.
Carlaya |
Carlaya will ready a multishot in case the ooze should slump into her line of sight.

Renee le Rapide |
"Merde! Eat my arrows, you menace!"
Looks like arrows are not the most effective option against the ooze, but at least they are somewhat effective. And after what the creature did to Old Grog, Renee doesn't feel like going anywhere near it.

Ooze (-92) creeps 5 feet closer, thereby triggering the attacks Carlaya and Zira had ready.
It is well enough to kill it, the ooze flattens into a large pool of goo.

Many terrible rolls later, the bleeding finally stops, and the Maiden stands up. "Let's get Grog out of that corner." Taking his body, she drags him out of the corner.
"Grog, I'm sorry...I was ready to die for this, if my god were willing. But you. I'm so sorry."
"When this is done, I'll come back and give you a proper burial. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten."
She takes one last look at the ooze's remains, to see if anything was stuck in there...

Charis makes a silent prayer to Abaddar to help Grog's soul and keep it away from this madness. She waits for the other members to finish their goodbyes.
"We go east, then." The Maiden continues her scouting, this time towards the well lit corridor.

"Are we just going to leave him here?" Carlaya says as she kneels at Old Grog's corpse. She picks up his tankard and douses him in whatever booze was left in it. "He would have wanted this, right?"
Old Grog |
Grog would have wanted you to get good and proper drunk, so drunk you forgot where you left him ;)
Xeram |
As Charis peers into the lit corridor, she pays extra attention towards the ceiling, and tiny tiny buttons along the wall.
Thankfully, none are seen here.
The room the corridor leads into, is what looks like a storage room for a variety of goods.
A painting of horrific creatures eating people, while worshipped by kneeling hooded figures. A couple of tailor's dummies with a dusty brown hooded mantle, decorated with crimson lines.
The heads of the dummies have been polished smooth, discoloring them from the rest of the body.
Rusty daggers and paper scrolls already largely consumed by time and mold.
An old trunk stands at the western wall, covered in dust and candle wax.
Another mawed arc leads down a hallway to the left.
Renee le Rapide |
"If we have a safe position to rest, I would gladly do so. I feel my connection to Desna weakening."
Xeram |
Tired after the fighting so far, as well as Old Grog's early death, the team lies down to rest.
Charis keeps watch, but unbeknownst to her, something is observing the group.
As Charis shifts from one foot to another, half an hour into her shift, she doesn't quite notice the tailor dolls/mannequins, starting to move.
Their stealth result beats a 22. Hence me asking if you took 10 or would roll for it.
Cyan suddenly makes a swing at Charis.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Green steps 5ft with unnatural grace, and does the same.

Another miss, but Charis is facing two faceless assailants in hooded mantles.

The face reflects her own, by being polished smoothe, but something is strange about it, and eerie.

Ed Earl climbs out from a mountain of giants, all slain by his greatsword. He laughs triumphantly and slides down the hill using his shield as an impromptu surfboard. The villagers cheer triumphantly as a boy runs up and hands him some cloth to wipe off his bloodied face. As he reopens his eyes, he sees the boy's sister- a comely lass smile sheepishly. She leans into his ear, and whispers the location of her- "WAKE UP!"
DC to hear battle is -10. I will also assume he's not in armor.
"Huh? Oh dammit, I was getting to the good part- what are those things?" Ed stands up and unsheathes his greatsword.

Good rolls. Kn. Arcana would have served you better results.
I know of the battle modifier, it's why i didn't mention any negative modifiers.
Charis does break free from the mannequin's grasp.

Ed Earl rises quickly, his sweet dream cut short.
