Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Thann pokes around in the detritus with the tip of his grime-ridden curveblade to look for anything the group may have missed. He doesn't find much though.

Dungeon Master S |

The party finds nothing else.
Looking at the map you've been keeping, you see that on the other side of the strange and deaf gillman was another tunnel. The letter here is interesting certainly, but there must be more here....

![]() |

Well, as Yogi Bera said, "when you see a fork in the road...take it."

Dungeon Master S |

The party heads back to the bathing gillman who does not notice you (unless you disturb him.) The passage leading from the gillmen’s holy site varies from 3 to 6 feet wide and is coated with the omnipresent bioluminescent fungi. Though you encounter several points where the tunnel branches off in different directions, all of those paths either narrow beyond your ability to traverse, lead back to this main trail, or are blocked by a cave-ins. About half an hour later the scenery changes.
Map Updated
The persistent glow of the bluish fungi dimly lights the way
deeper below the Kortos Mounts. The tunnels broaden to reveal a shallow river that bisects an immense tunnel stretching to the north and south. To the east a small passage exits the chamber at a steep incline.

Everyone check in with a Perception check.

Half the team quickly notices sound in the east. Not being the quietest of groups, it seems like they hear you too!
Kobolds!
Kobolds are reptilian humanoids who have a nasty disposition. +1 question for every 5 over the DC.

Boram looks at Bodta, and then down at his armor, somewhat confused. "Share my...protection items? My armor is far too small for you, I'm afraid you'd break it just trying to get into it...and this buckler, well, I don't think it would even cover your forearm."

Hobbes too moves into position. Each of the kobolds opts to hurl a sling stone at the two vanguards:
Vs. Hobbes: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Vs. Boram: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Close the gap. The thought comes unbidden to Thannaen's mind. He holds up Remembrance and gives it an eye, then nods. Beneath the grime, the stylized script glints in the dim light, perhaps more than it should.
Thann's legs carry him faster than should be possible. He stamps across the shallow river as though its a puddle and presses hard into the kobolds' flank.
Swift action for 60 foot base speed, double move.

Rules query: can I "Run" through a friendly square and through the stream?

![]() |

Brillig advances to the mouth of the cave and takes a quick look at the situation.
He mutters arcane syllables, as smokes streams forth from his hand and coalesces into the shape of an eagle.
The eagle focuses its celestial might (Smite Evil) and swoops back around the far side of the stream to come from behind and rake the nearest kobold.

Dungeon Master S |

No, running at quadruple requires a straight shot with nothing in the way.
Brillig's eagle shows up and simply tears into the two kobolds! The first claw rips a throat, and the second does the same!
Out of combat!

Missing out on the opportunity to show off his combat prowess, and unsure how he can possibly take any credit for the victory, Boram slowly puts his bow away with a dejected "Huh..."

Let us head through that passage east whence the kobolds came, yes?

Dungeon Master S |

The party, out of harms way, crosses the river. BUT
DM Screen: 1d5 ⇒ 2 as Boram crosses the river he accidentally hits a tripwire! A dart streaks out from the darkness towards him Ranged: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18. It sticks in his neck! DMG: 1d3 ⇒ 1 but it's coated in some kind of oil.... FORT save!
If you're not not up on the poison and heal skill rules in the game, it's a good time to bone up.

Dungeon Master S |

Boram grimaces, but quickly fights off the worst of it.
It's greenblood oil. Painful and debilitating, but rarely dangerous except to the very young and very old.
Following Bodta you travel up the tunnel to the east. Soon you begin to hear the faint sounds of combat and a familiar woman’s voice half-shouting and half-reciting, “As the legendary Gregaro Voth successfully battled the wild beasts in the deepest reaches of the Mwangi Expanse, so shall I defeat you, foul servant of Lamashtu!”
Janira! She's still fighting the minotaur and it's just ahead! What do you do Pathfinders?!

![]() |
Heal Check--Has Boram fought off the poison or will it linger and continue to attack his system?
Heal:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
If need be, can I retroactively treat Boram before we continue? I have a kit.
When we come upon Janira...
Heh. Man up, Mikey
Hobbes will not leave her again! He makes towards the sounds of battle.

Dungeon Master S |

Boram speaks the truth, Hobbes thinks he's okay.
Hobbes is advancing forward, what of the rest of you?

![]() |

Bodta paces Hobbes, moving deliberately We should assess situation...if Jania is succeeding, we should not intervene. Must complete mission. If she needs help... he clenches his fists so the knuckles crack ...we help

Dungeon Master S |

That's two for going after her. If I get one more I'll advance that way!

![]() |

The normally hasty halfling seems uncharacteristically unsure about what to do next. He seems to be debating with himself out-loud. "Our orders were to leave her...and following orders is generally commended...in fact, there may be no reward at all for saving her, or worse, punishment for disobedience...it'd all be for naught...but think how famous I would become by rescuing my commander and slaying such a terrible beast! Yes! Onward!" Boram draws his rapier and charges forth.

Dungeon Master S |

Thann hustles forward, and stops as he gets to the end. The party then takes in the scene. The light of the surface world above provides a welcome reprieve from the blue and green fungus of the caverns below, and light illuminates a stream whose water is hastened by runoff from a recent storm further up the mountains. A ledge to the west rises up to the nearby forest canopy.
That's when you see the fight itself. “You vile beast! I know not what drives your black heart, but I shall not fail in my duty. I shall see you driven from this forest, back to the hills from whence you came!” Janira looks haggard, and the fight is not going her way.
Well Pathfinders, consider this your final exam!

We will win, or fall, together!
Run in as southwesterly direction as possible, jump stream. The way I see it I'd land about 20' due north of Janira
