5' Step. Hobbes draws his Starknife and readies a throw against the first squishy (non skeletal) undead to get in range.

Dungeon Master S |

Hobbes pulls up ready, letting Bodta's ability do its work.
Round 1:
Than: Prep
Bodta: Oread stuff
Hobbes: Ready
Brillig: Summon
Bhielli: Go
Skeletons: TBD
Boram: TBD
Zombie: TBD

Dungeon Master S |

Bhielli, use this link for the map: Tactical Map

Dungeon Master S |

Bhielli trudges forward as the undead converge on him. His attack misses by a mile as the skeletons get close enough to claw at him with sharpened bone:
ATK: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 DMG if hit: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
ATK: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 DMG if hit: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Round 1:
Than: Prep
Bodta: Oread stuff
Hobbes: Ready
Brillig: Summon
Bhielli: Ready and miss
Skeletons: ATK
Boram: Go
Zombie: TBD

![]() |

Boram moves behind Hobbes while drawing a shortbow.
Shortbow: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 6 - 4 = 19 vs cover AC DMG if hit: 1d4 ⇒ 3
He tries to aim between or around all the various limbs of his companions, and lets an arrow fly at the nearest undead.

Dungeon Master S |

Boram's arrow hits the skeleton in the rib cage, but the arrowhead does no damage as it passes through.
The zombies jam the dwarven barbarian and come at him with fists that feel no pain:
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
But the dwarf is more ready for these attacks than the skeletal claws.
Going with Hobbes's readied action not firing because the zombie is in range, but corner and cover = -8 to hit.
Round 2:
Than: Go
Bodta: Go
Hobbes: Go
Brillig: Go
Bhielli: Go
Skeletons: TBD
Boram: TBD
Zombie: TBD

![]() |
Grunts as it takes one of the hits ... but smiles as the real fun starts and goes into a furious rage, attacking the creature in front of him.
Rage/Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 271d10 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Tracking 1 of 7 rounds of rage.

Dungeon Master S |

Confirmation Roll: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 for CRIT DMG: 2d10 + 18 ⇒ (8, 9) + 18 = 35 for a net DMG of 54 Since there is no "front", I've opted to target the one no one else can see. Easiest way to pick a target is to go by color. In this case each type has a black and a white version. Also, I've never seen a level 2 crit that powerful!
Bhielli swings with such force that the zombie's top half flies into the wall!
Round 2:
Than: Go
Bodta: Go
Hobbes: Go
Brillig: Go
Bhielli: BOOM!
Skeletons: TBD
Boram: TBD
Zombie: TBD

Round 2
Brillig stares down the hall at the approaching undead. Impressed with the dwarf's ferocity, Brillig decides he should lend a hand before Bhielli gets overwhelmed.
Get 'em, boy! Brillig shouts.
The dog runs forward, dashing through Bhielli's legs and slamming into the undead.
The dog will activate Smite Evil. Then move and try to bull rush the bottom-most undead, pushing the thing as far back as it can.
Bull Rush: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

![]() |

You can move through the passage, it's difficult terrain (dbl move cost)
Bodta shakes his head at the dwarf ignoring the tactical advantage of the terrain, effectively reversing the advantage to the undead's favor.
He chuffs out a grunt, and nudges the barbarian with an elbow on his way by into a flanking position against the zombie
acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

![]() |
I moved your pog, Mike. I think this is what you were hoping for. Chris can take a look.
Rich, you'll have to redo the dog's move, looks like Bodta got in the way.
Hobbes moves up behind Bodta and Bhielli to support them. He throws his starknife at the zombie.
Starknife:1d20 - 3 ⇒ (18) - 3 = 15
Damage on hit:1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Dungeon Master S |

Hobbes chucks his starknife, hitting the zombie in the chest, and getting only a grunt in return. Muscle slices though, and the hit seems to work.
Round 2:
Than: Delay
Bodta: Go
Hobbes: Starknife
Brillig: Go
Bhielli: BOOM!
Skeletons: TBD
Boram: TBD
Zombie: TBD
Black Skeleton: 0
White Skeleton:

Heh. That's not where I intended to move. Was going for the corner to set up flank. Would have moved past/through dogs square

Dungeon Master S |

missed Mike ninja'd my post. Will update tonight.

Dungeon Master S |

Bodta gets into position... sort of. It's for the best, you'd be failing the check to move through an occupied square.
Round 2:
Than: Delay
Bodta: Move
Hobbes: Starknife
Brillig: Go
Bhielli: BOOM!
Skeletons: TBD
Boram: TBD
Zombie: TBD
Black Skeleton: 0
White Skeleton:

Dungeon Master S |

The dog struggles with the attack angle, and it's teeth clack together, sans zombie...

Dungeon Master S |

Brillig's bolt has as much luck as the dog's bite, and the undead fight on.
The skeletons swing at the dwarf, though one has a poor line due to the cave wall:
Claw 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 DMG: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Claw 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 DMG: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Claw 1: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 2 - 4 = 16 DMG: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Claw 1: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 2 - 4 = 7 Miss
Bone tears flesh as Bhielli takes a beating!
Round 2:
Bodta: Move
Hobbes: Starknife
Brillig: Miss
Bhielli: BOOM!
Skeletons: ATK
Than: Delay
Boram: Go
Zombie: TBD
Black Skeleton: 0
White Skeleton:

"No, no, no! You have to dodge, time your moves around each other! Like this!" Boram quickly demonstrates ducking around Brillig while moving forward.
Move action - move forward, in a round about way.
Standard action - activate Tactician. All allies (except the dog, who is out of sight), gain the benefit of Escape Route for the next 4 rounds. Movement does not provoke AOOs when it is adjacent to or through the squares of allies (except the dog).

Dungeon Master S |

Boram tries to work through the battlefield chaos with his cavalier training...
Giving Than a chance to go before delay.
Round 2:
Bodta: Move
Hobbes: Starknife
Brillig: Miss
Bhielli: BOOM!
Skeletons: ATK
Boram: Tactician
Than: Delay
Zombie: TBD
Black Skeleton: 0
White Skeleton:
White zombie: 2

Dungeon Master S |

Thann moves ably into the room, avoiding the obvious openings for attack. The zombie keeps punching at the dog. A fist comes out: Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 and cracks it in the skull for DMG: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9.
Round 3:
Bodta: Go

The dog sucks up the attack while Brillig sticks it with a bolt. The bolt sinks, but the nature of the damage doesn't harm the zombie much. Some, but not much.
Round 3:
Bodta: Go
Hobbes: Channel 1
Brillig: Hit
Bhielli: Go

Bodta reaches out with force to grab the skeleton's neck bones with his left hand...
flurry 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
But misses entirely. He follows the first strike with a right forearm to the sternum...
flurry 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
...which might just connect
blunt force trauma: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Dungeon Master S |

The sternum shatters! Bodta destroys one of them

Dungeon Master S |

Bhielli uses the cavalier's boon and finds a much better position to ply his trade. The axe comes down with such force than he birfucates the zombie!
The skeleton steps forward over the broken pieces of it's counterpart and tries to tear the rocky flesh from Bodta:
Left claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 DMG: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Right claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Bodta: Smash
Hobbes: Channel 1
Brillig: Hit
Bhielli: Kill
Skeletons: ATK
Boram: Go

Boram moves up, draws his rapier, and stabs at the last skeleton.
Rapier: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 Crit Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
He stabs the skeleton extremely precisely straight through the rib cage, accomplishing nothing.

Dungeon Master S |

Were it a man, the rapier would ahve landed in his heart. Against the skeleton it does nothing.
Round 3:
Bodta: Smash
Hobbes: Channel 1
Brillig: Hit
Bhielli: Kill
Skeletons: ATK
Boram: Crit... sort of

The oread takes advantage of the flank. He drives two hammer fists into the skeleton--the first, aiming for the ribs, the second, aiming for the spine *through* the ribs.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 2 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 2 = 9
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Dungeon Master S |

Bodta's waza is perfect for the situation and with a final crack and shatter, the skeleton drops.
Out of combat.
DM Stuff: 2d11 ⇒ (9, 11) = 20

Dungeon Master S |

Boram begins searching the room, and it proves a boon. Among the fallen bodies, he finds a note that details plans to start an army of undead made from the “fish people” who have been frequenting this cave.
Additionally, the halfling finds a ring and amulet among the bodies. They seem to be worth a fair amount based on their gold make up and artistic detail.

![]() |

Boram carefully slips the ring onto a finger and the amulet around his neck, before reading out loud the contents of the note.
"Well, what do you make of this?"

Dungeon Master S |

Boram has picked up a pair of magic items.
The ring and the amulet both radiate a faint aura of abjuration.

![]() |

Boram--will you share? I would use protection item as well. :-)
Though nothing like a scholar, Bodta takes a look at the note. Is there any indication of who it was from, or to?
Oh, and Thank you, Hobbes.
