S, can you post that link to subscribe to posts?

Odric the Stout |

In the top right of the message board there is a little orange box icon. Right click it and "copy link." Here is the URL for you:
feed://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/community/campaigns/playByPost/sfounde rsInServiceToLorePbP&xml=atom
Go to blogtrottr.com and paste that URL in, then enter your email account.
Blogtrottr will email you a confirmation, just click on the link they email you and you are good to go.
Then Blogtrottr emails you every time someone posts to the campaign. It is delayed about 20 min (+ / -) or so most of the time.

Working the Paracountess is not actually a Gather Information check. It's a straight "Diplomacy" check. Gather information takes 1d4 hours and represents canvassing a settlement for information. The straight Diplomacy skill represents an attempt to shift an NPCs reaction level to a more advantaguous tier. For example, Imagine the Paracountess is by default "Unfriendly" and she has a Charisma modifier of +4 (not her real numbers) That would mean it's a DC 19 Diplomacy check to move her into thenext category of "indifferent." For every 5 you beat the DC it shifts an extra category. So it would therefore be a 24 to make her friendly, and a 29 to make her helpful.
Each category is a set of guidelines for how much risk and advantage the subject will give up. Once the target's category is determined, you make a new DC every time you make a request. There's a handy chart of modifiers to this second roll: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/skills/diplomacy

Are we short 1 short person? Has Zac dropped out?

Never mind, I scanned for Icons, and Dagnud doesn't have one. When I didn't see it I made an assumption.

Dungeon Master S |

Which reminds me, Zac, we need Dagnud on the Obsidian Portal site and a portrait for the battle map.

![]() |

LOL thanks for dropping the creepy old man Icon!

Dungeon Master S |

Sumac, not sure if this is online, but a chirurgeon's bag is legal for PFS.

is there a way to set this campaign's default alias to Fel and the Crimson Throne alias to Odric?

Dungeon Master S |

Treasure, money, profit, and items work VERY differently in official Pathfinder Society games.
Treasure you find in the game can be used immediately like any other game. It's only at the end that it gets weird. At the end of the game, all of your profit, selling items, found treasure, etc is converted into a Gp amount. That amount represents your earnings, which can be spent on treasure which is either always available, or found on your adventures. See chapter 5 in the PFS rules for a better and more complete explanation.
So, specific to this example: Fel takes the loaded dice. He can use it all he wants in the scenario. On his way back to Pathfinder headquarters, he sells the dice. Regardless, the dice count as found treasure, so it's included on the sheet's total. Had you simply pocketed the dice, you would not be allowed to keep them, but you'd have the pool of Gp anyway, so you could buy some and note it on your chronicle sheet.
Yes, this means it doesn't allow for you to get creative and there are limits (it'd be a simple matter to loot EVERYTHING and sell it to get rich quick.) The idea is that everyone in the world can play together, so they keep wealth strictly tracked.
Once we finish a scenario I'll email you an electronic copy of the scenario sheet. Once you make your purchases I'll sign the document and physically mail you the official record.
....My post might make it seem complicated, but it's really not.

![]() |

to add to S's post, that means that if we find a Flametongue sword, one person can use it until that adventure is over. After that, the sword is available for anyone/everyone to buy, if you've got the moeny for it. So, in theory, everyone can own the "one item" we found if they want/can afford it.

Dungeon Master S |

Aye. I'll tell yaah, high level PFS play isn't for the faint at heart. This past year at GenCon, my buddy made it into the final round of the Special. His ranger got smacked with 8 negative levels and THEN got killed. He had to cash in all his Prestige points, and even then his character is still suffering a few of those levels. There were no other survivors of his party.

Dungeon Master S |

To make my life easier (MUCH easier) can everyone post to this thread:
1. Their character's PFS #
2. Their EXACT Gp amount leftover from character creation.

![]() |

how do I know what my PF s number is?

Dungeon Master S |

Yes, "-1" for it being your first character. S, since these are official characters, they all get registered.
to register your character, go to paizo.com then click on the "Pathfinder Society" button on the left. Then across the top is the "my Pathfinder Society" link (it's in a small font.) Then there should be a "register a character" button.

![]() |

OK the site is gay. I *think* Fel's PFS number is 67216-1
It made me create a new character, so I did and the Fel I play with is an alias of that character for some reason.

![]() |

2296-2
my problem is I don't have a confirmation number so I can't register AND keep my super-cool low society number. I'll contact support and find out what I should do.

Dungeon Master S |

So, we've completed a PbP scenario! Now we have some bookkeeping to do. At the end of each scenario players receive an official record of completion, which is a sheet of paper I have to sign and then log them on the Paizo website. (and these matter in a fashion I'll explain later.)
But since more than half of you I don't see regularly, we need to figure out a way to have you fill out your stuff and me fill out mine. I've got 2 methods, and I'm perfectly happy doing either (or both.)
1. I'll email you your treasure credit (which for this scenario is 417 Gp.) I'll also email you your "Found Treasure" list. This list shows what treasure beyond the "always available" you found and can spend. You then tell me what you buy, and I'll fill it out completely and mail it to you.
2. I'll fill out my side, scan it and email you the scan and you fill it out. As a 2 star DM, it's important that I maintain my credibility, so please no funny business. I'm not supposed to sign a record without it being filled out first.
Let me know and we'll get it done. All I need to go is your number and gold as above (and purchases if desired.)

Dungeon Master S |

Also, I need Day Job rolls if anyone has any, as well as Prestige Point spending.

![]() |

Sumacs's Pathing Finder # 64672-1
left over starting gold is 46gp even
can I find somewhere to work a dayjob as a healer?
heal 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
I know PathFinder is strict, but I'm happy to work someplace basically at half pay, for poor people and stuff.

Leftover GPs from creation = 8

Sorry Sumac, you can spend prestige to become a professional healer (email me for details.) Meanwhile you can use your Perform skill (CHA check if no ranks.)
Which reminds me, let me know if you want to spend any Prestige.

Ill just be unemployed for the moment

Dungeon Master S |

Nope. I digitally submit to paizo. YOU get a copy in the snail mail or I scan and email. You don't have to do anything. Easy for you guys. :-)

Phil, a recommendation on tricks. The next one I'd do is "Attack all" and after that Guard. I use heel, guard, and attack all with my ranger more than any other.

Okay, I'll stick w/ heel. Next time I'll go for attack all, then guard after that.

After arriving, you spend some time hobnobbing with Absalom's best. It's a good thing you cleaned up for this event. Dagnud is noticeably out of place, but Fel seems to fit right in. Chud is a bit of a mystery to all, though no one displays shock. Knowledge (Local)? After some time an immaculately dressed Tian man excuses himself and tells you that Venture-Captain Amara Li has requested the honor of your presence in her private study.
You find her seated on a reed mat before a low table set with an exquisite porcelain tea set. She motions for the Pathfinders to sit with her around the table, and once the door is closed behind them and they have taken their seats, begins talking in a low, hushed voice without even the hint of a Tian accent, "Well met, Pathfinders, and welcome to the Lantern Lodge. I hope you find the Snapdragon Festival and my hospitality worthy of your time and energy. I have not brought you here for mere pleasantries, however, and wish to ask you to partake a dangerous mission on my behalf. “Long ago, one of my most esteemed ancestors, who was rich in power but poor in sense, gave a gift to a foreign prince, a gift that prince did not deserve and my foolish ancestor had no right to give—a ceremonial jade katana. At the time the gift was sent, its recipient was invading this island. He laid siege to Absalom from his fortress in the foothills of the Kortos Mounts. Like those who came before him, the warlord failed to take Absalom and perished in the attempt. On the very day of his defeat, his castle crumbled to dust in a violent earthquake and has been lost to the centuries ever since. My family’s heirloom was lost with it."
She takes a moment to size up each of you in turn before continuing, "A recent report by a group of Pathfinders gives me hope that they have finally found the ruin, and I might finally recover my family’s treasure. I’m looking for an intrepid group to retrieve it for me, and I’m hoping that is you. The fame and wealth you will doubtlessly recover will bring you much honor within the Society, and if you deliver the katana to me, you will have my favor as you begin your careers as full agents of the Pathfinder Society..."

I will wait to reply to this till its posted in the gameplay tab.

I propose the following as a default:
Whenever initiative is rolled, allies going before Fel should delay until after him but before enemies. That way he can begin "inspiring courage" to trigger +1 to all attacks and damage rolls.
If no one objects, when it comes up I'll jump the line to get that going.
example:
Sumac
Dagnud
Fel
Baddies
Harnac
Chudd
Sumac and Dagnud delay until after Fel but before baddies. Variations are aplenty, but that's the idea. Silence is consent :)

![]() |

Right, if he is after them, then it would make sense for him to go first in the group of people who also are after the baddies.

Don't worry man, when you're back you're back.
Something to note guys. At the end of the scenario, you could all make my lives WAY easier by making a single post that includes what expended resources you've used
For example:
Sumac:
2 scrolls of CLW
4 charges from a wand of Barkskin
1 Oil of Bless Weapon
etc. I only need 1 post, and even then, not until the very end after I declare it mission success or failure.

On vacation till Sat. And my phones battery is losing a charge very quick.
Between the two of those my posting may be spotty. Chris feel free to post for me. Ive already told Adam and also has my leave to post for Sumac. (Same thing in the other game too)

I'll be off the net most of tomorrow. Fel plans to stop chanting and start throwing daggers next round. Anyone can control him, I don't think he will be a decisive member of the offense in this fight...
As for Sumac, hopefully Phil doesn't mind if someone takes relatively responsible control over him for tomorrow.
