Her necklace is indicative of the Mantis Assassins!

Thanks for the reminder, Desh! Flyn also makes sure to free his weapons for use.

Not trained in Knowledge, so I can’t hit the DC.
Flyn notices the woman’s necklace, but sees no significance to the jewelry beyond it’s trade value. Hmm... fancy gilding, for a street-hawker. And in this part of town?

![]() |

Whispering to his allies, the rogue warns: "Beware, the woman is not what she seems. She wears a necklace that marks her as a Mantis Assassin! I hope there aren't others of her kind around..."

![]() |

"Either way, I think we should stop her--and turn her in to the proper authorities, of course." (I get to check off a goal on my faction journal card if we turn her over alive. :-) "If a Mantis is here, you can be sure that they're up to no good."

Cëanel purses his lips but does not say anything immediately. He glances at Narad. "Catch one now, but also find out what they are up to," he says meditatively.

Dungeon Master S |

She saddles up to the party, "Can I interest ye in anything? I can certainly fix that issue you have there." None of you know which "issue" or even which agent she makes the offer to.

![]() |

"He does?" the naive Narad asks with genuine surprise and concern in his voice.
"Flyn! You should have mentioned something. We could have stopped by a temple of..." then, the young rogue remembers where they just were, and his cheeks turn bright crimson. He immediately looks down at his own feet.
"Aw, Desh! Why would you bring up such a topic?"

Dungeon Master S |

The woman seems perfectly content to let you guys rib each other. She'll wait...

![]() |

Kohi edges forward just slightly, looking at the woman's wares skeptically. "I'm unsure what you have here, and my friends are, of course, completely unwilling to buy untested goods. Why don't you have a sip of one of those so we can see what they do?"

Dungeon Master S |

I think the cleric is asking her to sample her own wares.

Dungeon Master S |

"Ahh I see that you are discerning buyers, I also see that you're a cleric and likely have no need of my wares. I'll just be on my way."
Assuming you let her pass (and let me know if you don't) she simply walks on her way, leaving you to search for the band of rogues hiding from just such a person...

![]() |

I get your motivation, but what’s the plan? We can’t drag her along on this mission, but can we can drop her off with the local LEO’s? I don’t know if what she is doing is legal(ish) here, or not...

Dungeon Master S |

Conversation like this is awesome, but it's in character, not OOC. Which means if you guys talk about it, she'll head on her way.
Which means I need a perception check from the party. DC is 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 1 = 13

Dungeon Master S |

She stops at Narad's call, but doesn't turn right away, "You meddlesome children." Before you know it a crash sounds from the west. A pair of nasty looking ruffians knock down some tents as they enter the alley. "You should have left well enough alone. I'm working here!" She turns around with a hand crossbow loaded and aimed at Narad!

Round 1
Garrett gasps at the sudden violence displayed by the assassin. He quickly conjures up an illusion of a large metal box around the woman as a 10'x10'x10' cube!
Silent Image to create the illusion of conjuring a metal box around her as a 10'x10'x10' cube. Once Will Save DC 15 if she interacts with it to disbelieve.

Dungeon Master S |

Everyone should ahve access now. Sorry about that.

Dungeon Master S |

Garrett's spell immediately encases the woman in a case of iron. Her shouting is the only clue that it's hollow on the inside and that she's not flattened underneath.

I’m down. Everyone should be placed. Moved Narad per his description.
Flyn stifles a curse as narad follows the woman, and things escalate. With a placating gesture, he tries to stifle the rising tension. “Hey, lady, put that thing away – we all got better things to do, than scrap with one another! Any other day, I’d knock your boys’ heads together, but we’ve got places to be.”
Diplomacy: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10 Wuh wuh wuuuuh....
Ah, curse of the ninja post. I suppose that takes up my action this round.

Move Action: Knowing that Desh will want a flank buddy, Narad slips between the buildings.
Standard Action: Once he has found adequate cover, he attempts to be stealthy. Stealth: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29
Desh, our characters would have traveled a bit together. I presume you know in character that I'll try to acrobatics into a flank with you at the first opportunity.

Dungeon Master S |

As Pathfinders find positions and jockey for an advantage the pair of thugs coming in have no such care. As they approach you can all see that their forms are indistinct and blurry. They draw daggers on the move and both throw at the flat-footed Desh!

It looks like they have the same thought after the daggers as they're reaching for saps. Neither one seems to notice Narad.

Seeing the box fail to hold their foe, Kohi tries a spell of her own. She holds her holy symbol high, praying to her goddess to slow her foe's muscles and reactions and stop her from fighting.
Casting Hold Person, DC 15

Dungeon Master S |

Oops! My bad. I didn't realize the quick post wasn't up to date.
Kohi's spell WILL: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 works like a charm as the woman freeze mid-action. Meanwhile Narad's dagger sinks deep into the thug in blue. He gives a growl of pain and trains his eyes on the rogue.

"DEATH FIRST!" The enemy retort is immediate, as is Flynal's blade bifurcating the thug. Even the death of one of their own doesn't stop them, however in looking at his friend killed, his confidence shakes a little. You think the retort is mostly bluster.

Anyone heard from Garrett? It's been 4 days. Just want to make sure he's okay.

![]() |

Sorry guys, been extremely busy the past few days. I will make better effort to keep on track.
Round 2
Garrett draws out his near sword and moves up next to Desh. "Shall we try to take this down together?" He nods to the half-orc.
Posting from my phone if someone could move Garrett on the map into the square next to Desh? Thanks!

Dungeon Master S |

No worries. I totally get it. Just checking in. Real Life Comes First (tm).
DM mistake in player favor! I forgot to include miss chances for Blur! I won't retcon, but keep it in mind going forward.
The woman tries with all of her might to break the spell: Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17, which she does! The remaining thug slides towards Kay with some fluid movement before trying to stick him. ATK: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

The longspear drops into the muck on the alley floor as Desh circles thug, looking to close on his flank as he draws Longtooth from over his shoulder.
”Let’s do it,” growls the half-orc in response to Garrett, as he brings the falchion down … hard.
Free action to drop longspear. Move to circle counter-clockewise into flanking with Kay (left > left > left/up > right/up) in order to avoid AoO’s, drawing his falchion on the move. Then Power Attack from flank (with sneak attack).
Longtooth: 1d20 + 8 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 8 + 2 - 1 = 18
Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 75; success!

Dungeon Master S |

Desh's bite from longtooth is the last thing the thug ever sees. He's dead before hits the ground.
Kay and Kohi to end the round.

Dungeon Master S |

No concentration, no AoO. The missiles blast out of the uncommonly powerful wand!
