"Just a few more minutes mom,... Hmm whuzzat? Waitaminute! I'm awake! I'm awake!" Edwin protests feebly as he ineffectually attempts to fend off Larissa's ministrations.
"I'm fine, I'm fine,... I'm,... a little woozy, actually. What was that stuff the maniac had on his axe? I feel weak as a newborn kitten. And that miniscule ankle-biter, a homonculous I presume?" He asks as he leans against the wall to get his bearings.
"I did NOT know those came with poison bites. I shall have to make a note of that option. As soon as I can feel my toes,..."
Rholf gives Edwin the once-over to assess his injuries, then he says "Those... things... Almost did me in." "This was a lot more than I expected to encounter here. What are our plans for the rest of the day?"
"I have expended a fair amount of my healing abilities for the day, which leaves me a little uneasy about another foray outside the city walls. I realize that our primary mission is quite time-sensitive, however, so if we are heading out again, I would like to seek healing at the temple, and if we can afford it, purchase some additional healing potions to mitigate the loss of innate resources."
"A very sensible precaution by my thinking." Edwin agrees, looking almost as bad for wear as Rholf. If sporting less actual bleeding spots.
"We are almost done here. I hope. Once we are certain no other clues have been left behind, I would not be amiss to seeking additional healing, in order to keep us at our peak efficiency, of course."

Rholf looks considerably better, but it's still quite evident that he's been in a severe scrap.

Alinya didn't need healing, but the surge of positive energy is pleasantly tingly and raises a slight flush in her cheeks.
"Thank you Larissa. And Rholf, I'm glad you are feeling better. Now, Edwin, traps? Secret doors? Ingenious hidden pannels containing ancient tomes of forbidden lore known only to fearsome demiliches and, now, us?"
Edwin perks up at the healing energy, although he still looks weak.

She looks at his wounds critically, notes how he favors one leg a bit and he turns ever so slightly to avoid contacting the mage with his arm as he moves past.
"Hold, please. I'm not done with you."
"much better. I prescribe a good night's rest and you will be good as new. Leik, were any of the children harmed? I could bring Sarenrae's blessing to them, also. If we truly have dealt with the threats, what are we to do with those vats? Or the not-dead men below?"
Leik's confident that there are no traps.

"we should just burn the place down when we are done. It'd make me feel better."
Edwin raises a finger.
"Not that I disagree with your feelings and intentions, BUT, I feel I must point out to you that this building is full to overflowing with volatile chemicals and their fumes. Burning down a building in town is unlikely to garner you friends under normal circumstances. When the building is likely to explode, taking several others with it, the likelihood of angry reprisals increases exponentially."

The room you fought the wallcrawler in doesn't have any more doors, other than a trapdoor in the roof. There's a ladder up to it, and it doesn't look trapped.
There's a strongbox under a bed in this room though.

"A trap, you say. Well, the strongbox may contain further clues to what was going on here. Would anyone care to open it, Edwin?"
Edwin looks at the box for a moment,

Larissa will start searching the wallcrawler for keys or other useful bits.
"How frustrating! Oh, not you of course dear Edwin, just the general situation. I believe there is a spell that would help ... but I don't know it."
Larissa finds a key.
"Here, Edwin, does this fit the lock?"

Edwin sniffs.
"Well, yes. If you want to do it the easy way,..."
He fits the key into the lock. His lips are moving, but making no noise.
Nothing blows up.
There's a click, and the sound of air releasing from a bladder of some sort, and teh strongbox is opened.
And....500 gp, and a small velvet bag. It contains 8 diamonds worth 300 gp each.

"But we do have new information. How many skin-stealers do you think there are in the area? Did we not find a mask at that campsite in the swamp? What if the 'beast' in the swamp was actually the skin-stealer we killed tonight? Can we prove it one way or another?"
"Hmm. You're right, as usual, Larissa. There might be nothing in the chest, but e have certainly learned things since leaving that cursed swamp."
"Very good Larissa. Very good." Edwin smiles thinly.
"Hm,... Yes. Things are beginning to make sense. I don't want to indulge in idle speculation, but,... Yes. As I said in the swamp, 'The game is afoot'. Judging by what we discovered here, I rather suspect that we shall find some other interesting things when we go to the site of the other 'Beast' sightings. Yes,... This is proving to be. Interesting."
Edwin wanders off, deep in thought, but with a spring in his step that indicates he is quite happy with events.
There's one more beast sighting site......a small collection of abandoned houses to the north and west a ways; it's where they saw him carrying the little dead girl......
