Before we start i wanna make sure you all are here and im also laying some basic home-rules.
FIRST: Crits are auto-confirmed. this means you dont have to roll twice to crit, but It also means that nat 20's are not always hits. you still have to beat AC. so throwing a weapon you aren't proficient with against an enemy with over 20 AC and getting a nat 20 wont hit.
SECOND: Massive damage is altered. it no longer has a minimum of 50 hp. if your character deals over half the enemies HP (and it is with one hit) instead of rolling for massive damage save, they instead take a major wound. this can be loss of limb or bleeding damage, or such. this also applies to your characters, however because I know how easy it is to deal more than half HP at low level the minimum damage you need to deal for a major wound is 20, instead of 50.
THIRD I'm the type of DM who loves to use custom monsters. now these will usually just be re-flavorings of current monsters so no need to really worry. but don't be surprised if you encounter a monster you have no idea what to do with.
FOURTH: rolling ones damages your weapon. if you roll a 1 still roll damage, this damage is dealt to your weapon instead of your enemy. this is under the assumption that you missed and hit a wall or other obstacle, or that your weapon cracked against the enemies armor. you still apply hardness so most of the time this won't be an issue unless your power attacking. if you are using natural weapons the damage is dealt to you directly, after all your crushing your claws on that wall.
and I believe that's it for now :/ ...
oh, and we are using the piece-mail rules. you can come across pieces of armor in the game, or full sets.
NOTE: also, i am going to be a bit slower than I first planned, but i will still be looking forr at least one post a day.

Hi, all! So glad to be a part of this campaign!
Just one heads-up: I've recently come down with the flu, so my posting may not be consistent right away. I've been sleeping a lot and when I'm awake I'm in a NyQuil/Fever induced haze.
That said, looking forward to it all! Love the House Rules DM Waz Up!

Lysa Arianna |

Hello all, looking forward to all the fun. I may have to go watch Unknown to get me fully into the mood for this game. (The one with Greg Kinnear, not Liam Nieson.)
Comments on rules -
I love customizing monsters, so no complaints there. :)
On damaged weapons, is there a special rule on how to fix them or how long that may take?
Krasota - Seriously, put a lot Vick's Vapor rub on the soles of your feet and then put socks on. For some weird ass reason it really does help.

Fixing weapons can be done with magic/your craft(Smithing/weapons) skill. DC for the check is 10+ damage repaired. Beating 10 repairs however much it is over. However magical Equipment can only be repaired by people with craft magic arms and armor.
Also, what the brute blessing implies is that your strong and can lift pretty much anything or move any obstacle, or crush anything with your hands, but you are slow to react. You have a -5 to initiate checks and your strength check bonus is +15. This only applies to checks not attack or damage.
And I know some of the blessings may seem unbalanced, but just trust me.
For example, since Krasota is dragon, he can't be targeted by spells that only target Humanoids now, as well as being vulnerable to things that harm dragons, but not humanoids ;-)

Ssithinelor |

Oooo, these blessings are interesting... I can already see Adrion using his speed to stay ahead of a monster, tricking it into chasing him past a statue where Ssithinelor hides, ready to use his great strength to push it over on top of said monster.
A couple of questions that will probably be relevant in the future:
*Does the Brute blessing affect Ssithinelor's carrying capacity?
*Could he pick up items that would usually be too heavy for his 'normal' strength and use them as improvised weapons? Obviously he still wouldn't get his Brute strength bonus using them, but I'm thinking he might want to hurl a boulder or wield a fallen pillar or something at some point.
*Do our characters know somehow what their blessings do, or will they need to figure it out?
*You'd said something about these blessings changing over time, right?
I'm excited to see where this goes. Now hopefully we don't all just die... :D

awnsers:
1) yes, you can carry pretty much anything a normal great wyrm dragon can, limited by size of course
2) yes, you can lift larger objects and use them as improvized weapons, however doing so is like picking up oversized weapons, such as a medium creature trying to use a giant's greatsword.
3)yes, you know what your blessing is, for some reason the knowlege about them is crystal clear in your minds.
4) did I? well, if I did then it must be true ;-P but seriously, i do plan on having the blessings change in one way or another, as you learn more about why you where given them in the first place (the depictions are hints)
yeah, although I do plan on pushing characters, I don't plan on TPK'ing you all.

Adrion Idaira |

How will knowledge skills work in this campaign, given our amnesia? I’m hoping we can get weird, unexplained bits of information through knowledge checks, as Adrion’s psychic discipline is rather focused on knowledge.

Krasota Vasco |

Another blessing question: Does Krasota's blessing do anything other than the following?
*Change type to Dragon
*Add Low-Light Vision
*Add Immunity to Magical Sleep and Paralysis
For example, does this impact his breath weapon or resistance? Does it give him the (Cold) Subtype, like a dragon of his type?

-Knowledge checks will indeed just be strange fragments of knowledge. you just know things, you dont know how...
regarding the blessing: yes, you dont need to eat as much as others, you can eat once a week, but to be honest, I'm not tracking food so rally it doesn't matter.
as for subtype, no... you can gain that through other means, well... for now anyways. As i said, blessings are bound to change...

Ssithinelor |

2) yes, you can lift larger objects and use them as improvized weapons, however doing so is like picking up oversized weapons, such as a medium creature trying to use a giant's greatsword.
That would be on top of the -4 for being non-proficient with improvised weapons for a total penalty of -6, correct? I suppose I could solve that by taking the Catch Off-Guard feat to get proficiency with improvised weapons...
4) did I? well, if I did then it must be true ;-P but seriously, i do plan on having the blessings change in one way or another, as you learn more about why you where given them in the first place (the depictions are hints)
I'm actually very excited about this, and shall proceed to spin wild theories* about what the blessings are.
*Example: Ssithinelor is secretly Jormungandr!

Ssithinelor |

By the way, are we going to have to deal with the fact that we don't have backpacks and so don't have any way to carry stuff around other than in our hands? If so, Ssithinelor will probably bring one of the grain sacks just to carry stuff, unless they're both stuffed full of still-edible grain.

Ssithinelor |

Ssithinelor was trying to say we should attempt going upstairs first before breaking down the door, but Common is his second language. :D
If it'll keep things moving along, though, I could go ahead and roll a strength check, since we'll almost certainly end up needing to do so. I want to make sure this keeps moving!

Krasota Vasco |

Thank you, friends. She was a neighbor of mine who’d been in Hospice care for some time with advanced brain cancer, so thankfully it wasn’t anything sudden or unexpected. She made her preparations and we all got our chances to say goodbye long ago when she was still lucid, but it still doesn’t stop her passing from being a somber event.

Tassadan |

Dear friends,
I’m so sorry to let you down this way. My obsession with and addiction to online gaming has become something that is interfering with my professional and personal life. While this PBP campaign is certainly a low-commitment on its own, it’s one of many, and compounded with my binge-watching and binge-gaming is a symptom of a much larger problem that I have.
It’s because of all this that I’ve decided to greatly cut my media consumption. As such, I can no-longer adhere to posting here for my own physical and mental health. I sincerely hope you can understand, and I hope that my withdrawal does not hurt the campaign too badly.
Sincerely,
Tassadan

Ssithinelor |

It's early enough it probably wouldn't be hard to add in someone else, if there's a way they could be fit into the story. Or we could continue on with three and just be even more cautious than we already are.

Adrion Idaira |

It seems like it would be pretty easy to work another player in to the game. We could just find another amnesiac somewhere in the tunnels.

Idial Flue |

Hello, everyone. I'm the one who was invited to join this campaign. I'm glad to see that my character was liked enough to be chosen for a late addition, and I look forward to playing with you!

Ssithinelor |

I love how cohesive our group is. XD
To be a bit more serious, I think it's much more realistic for us to not really feel any need to stick together now that we think we've reached safety. A few hours of shared danger *can* forge bonds of friendship... but it doesn't have too.
Especially since 'Xenophobic' is Ssithinelor's drawback. :D

Idial Flue |

I have to agree with Ssithinelor, here; there will be plenty of opportunities for trust and friendship later, but I think developing such bonds this early seems a bit forced. Furthermore, Idial hasn't been present during the party's most hazardous moments, so she would have even less of a reason to stick to the others.
