Dragonlance: Heroes of a New Age

Game Master Shalafi2412

What came before...:

Six months have passed since the War of Souls, an epic conflict that spanned the world of Krynn. After 39 years when the Gods have been silent and magic flowed unrestrained by the Moons, the Gods of Krynn have returned. The first among the Light, Paladine walks the earth as a mortal, while the Dark Queen Takhisis lies dead, leaving their places vacant among the heavens. Ansalon still bears scars of the decades where evil reigned upon the world in the Godless times. The Dark Knights of Neraka still subjugate numerous lands and the wicked minotaurs have begun a campaign of conquest. Many among the righteous and good have suffered in the Age of Mortals. Solamina's forces are weakened by the war, the elves are in exile, the Kender lands burned to ash and the dwarves in ever conflict with their darker brethren. Decades ago, the Companions saved the world from the brink of ruin. Now once again, heroes must rise and bring balance back to the world. Will you be among them?

Looking at the group and sighing as Jor turns towards Mithas "Its your opinion now Mithas. A dogs salary with this kind of contract" smirking at him "I would say but I do hope to get something out of this if you decide to clean those spiders? After all I am hired by you"

Cole looks flustered and says "Why are we even bothering with this? Besides I all got against spiders is my fire spells and I can't use them in there. You guys took my dagger, crossbow and bolts away from me and then sold it all at the marketplace so don't ask em to go in there. Lets just move on and get to where we need to go."

"We'll I think there there is still some time on the clock, Jor, but if the spiders' lair holds an item that strikes your fancy, consider it yours. If we decide to fight, of course."

Mithas peers into web filled room, "Why don't I just take a quick peek. No point in just running in there, when we can just lure them out and squash them on our own terms. And if there's like 50 of them in there, we can just walk away."

MIthas will sneak into the edge of the spider room and take a look around.

Quintus, have these spiders been a threat to the enclave? I do not recall hearing that they were. inquires the elf while handing his quarterstaff to the sorcerer.

Quintis says, "The spiders have not caused any trouble to the enclave. While they are dangerous we know to keep away from them and no one of the enclave has been harmed yet. They mainly feed off the local goblin population. Still I suppose it would do us a favour if we could kill the spiders off before they become a real nuisance."

Ok Mithas sneaks into the room and avoids touching the webs. He finds that there is one large spider, 4 Medium spiders and 8 small spiders as well as a large nest with a lot of eggs. He also gets a closer look at the glittering object. It appears to be a greatsword that is tied up in the webbing but beyond his reach to sneak out without jostling the webs and alerting the spiders. There appears to be a mix of other objects in the webs as well. Quintis was also correct as you can tell the foundations in this room are crumbling and it seems only the webs are holding it together.

So roll for initiative if you have not gone but it looks like Jor gets to go first with a surprise action for rolling a natural 20. So Jor yoy get a standard action and then your normal turn afterwards. The spiders see you but have not reacted yet giving you the jump on them. BTW if you step in any squares with the black webbing you risk getting webbed. Webs also provide light concealment to spiders as it is a thick layer of them and they obscure vision.

Mithas fire at the last remaining medium spider,

Pew: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Pew: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

While the others finish off the small spiders Mithas shoots two arrows into the last medium spider and sends it sprawling to the ground dead.

Just speeding things along as the little spiders don't really have a chance as the party can easily kill them off.

End of combat

You look upon the room now full of dead spider bodies. In the center of the web is a good deal of spider eggs in the webs in different stages of development. However you also see the glittering object and pull it from the web. Cleaning off the web you find that it is a greatsword. The make is not of Khurish design. In fact give me a history check to identify the make.

1d100 ⇒ 34

In addition you find a bag with 2 potions and some kind of oil inside, a pouch with 72 steel pieces and 3 Garnets (worth 120 steel).
