Dragonlance: Heroes of a New Age

Game Master Shalafi2412

What came before...:

Six months have passed since the War of Souls, an epic conflict that spanned the world of Krynn. After 39 years when the Gods have been silent and magic flowed unrestrained by the Moons, the Gods of Krynn have returned. The first among the Light, Paladine walks the earth as a mortal, while the Dark Queen Takhisis lies dead, leaving their places vacant among the heavens. Ansalon still bears scars of the decades where evil reigned upon the world in the Godless times. The Dark Knights of Neraka still subjugate numerous lands and the wicked minotaurs have begun a campaign of conquest. Many among the righteous and good have suffered in the Age of Mortals. Solamina's forces are weakened by the war, the elves are in exile, the Kender lands burned to ash and the dwarves in ever conflict with their darker brethren. Decades ago, the Companions saved the world from the brink of ruin. Now once again, heroes must rise and bring balance back to the world. Will you be among them?

Sorry there was a mix up on the types. Brass Dragons create Baaz, not Copper and copper dragons create Kapaks. So just adjust the colours as needs be.

Round 1

Baaz Draconian Initiative 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Kapak Draconian Initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Bozak Draconian Initiative 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Cole initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

The Baaz look rather distracted licking their lips at the Kender so are slow to react while the Bozak and Kapak draconians turn a gaze to the coming noise. The Bozak yells in draconic, "More prey! Attack them! Kill them!"

Jor gets off his horse and takes position on the ground preparing for combat.

The Bozak reacts. He points his hand at Gabriel and says some magical words and two magical bolts of force shoot out and strike him for 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 4) + 2 = 10 damage.

Mithas then twangs the closest Baaz draconian with an arrow, hitting it solidly in the back, he hisses in pain. Gabriel then reacts by charging forward and shoving a lance through the Draconian. The lance pierces right through the Draconian. It gasps and then dies and then its body turns to stone. Make a reflex save DC 12 or have your lance stuck in the dead Baaz Draconian.

Cole then reacts he dismounts from the horse, points a hand at the Kapak closest and tries to use a force missile ability. But as he's new to this its a concentration check

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

And sucessfully gets the spell off doing 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 damage

The Kapak's act next. They take move actions to lick the tips of their arrows and then shoot at Gabriel and Jor.

Kapak Arrow Shot Gabriel: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Kapak Arrow Shot Jor: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Just so you know I am buffing up the attributes for Draconians in this game. Their stats are absolutely pathetic in the book. They don't even look like they were built with the standard NPC array. As they should be more threatening I am giving them Heroic Array stats.

One arrow strikes Jor for 1d8 ⇒ 7 damage and give me a fortitude save.

Althea summons her fire elemental and it appears in front of her ready to take her orders.

Terevalis overcomes the spell resistance of the Kapak draconian (As he is the next closest target) and the Kapak makes a save 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 and barely fails to resist (As its DC 15 due to the moon position)

The Kender misses with the bow attack on the Draconians. As for the Baaz they move to attack. One Baaz leaps from a rock he was standing on and does a gliding charge (Draconians with wings have a glide ability and he was elevated on a rock so I'm saying he could charge using the rock as leverage) at Jor and takes a swing at him with his longsword.

Baaz Sword Swing: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

He hits for 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 sword damage on Jor.

The other Baaz charges the Kender and takes a swing with his longsword.1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

He does 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 damage if he hits.

Round 2 Start

The small rocks do not impede movement. The big rocks however count as difficult terrain.

Alathea directs the Fire Elemental to attack the Bozak Draconian, the same one which injured Gabriel with magic.

Alathea then Channels Divine Energy to heal her Comrades in arms, shunting out the Draconians from the benefit 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 3) + 1 = 7

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 Close, wipes forehead

Round 2

Focus down the one on the Kender I will take out this archer. Thank you Alathea.

With his lance safely still in hand Gabriel spurs his mount on to ride down the archer.

Gabrile looks in to the Kender and the Draconian attacking her.

Leave that one alone beast. Your fight is with me.

Damage PA: 2d6 + 12 ⇒ (6, 6) + 12 = 24

Jor resists the Paralysis and gives a resounding blow to the Draconian in front of him. The Draconian takes a massive wound across its torso but is still barely alive from the blow as being a dragon man he is more resilient than your average human.

The Bozak decides to hold his action and assess who is the more dangerous threat.

Gabriel charges and lances the closest Kapak, wounding him badly with his lance attack.

The Bozak seeing this decides he needs to take down Gabriel and fast. He moves in and points his hand at Gabriel and utters some magical words. A Ray of Red Hot fire shoots from his outstreched hand.

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Gabriel is struck with a beam of fire doing 4d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3, 4, 1) + 1 = 11 fire damage. (Spell was Scorching Ray)

The Kapak drops his bow, takes out his shortsword and then 5 foot steps in and takes a stab at Gabriel.

Short Sword Stab: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

His sword fails to penetrate Gabriel's armor.

The other Kapak draconian stands around dazed from the spell cast by Terevalis.

Cole responds by casting another Force Bolt at the Kapak doing 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

The Fire elemental double moves towards its target, the Bozak Draconian.

The badly injured Draconian attacks Jor with a longsword and bite combo. Longsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19, Bite: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8 hitting Jor with his blade doing 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 damage

The other draconian does a longsword and bite on the Kender. Longsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22, bite: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11

"Alathea sorry no time. Advance and help the Kender she is wounded."

That spell casting bozak will be the death of the knight and us, thinks the elf.

Drawing the spellcomponents from a pouch he attempts a spell he has never cast before, a spell he learned from Sheylin's spellbook.

Radiant dart

Radiant dart will do 1d4 pts of damage per missile, at this time only one with a range of 100+ 10 ft per level. If it goes through his SR he will be dazzled for 1 round per hit point of damage. Ranged Touch attack,

Unfortunately Gabriel's change in direction disorients him and the lance goes wide from the target. The Kapak also takes a swing as he moves out of his reach.

Kapak Short Sword Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

The sword does not penetrate his armor.

The Bozak Draconian seeing an opening gives an evil smirk and decides tries to defensive cast a spell.

His left hand crackles with electrical energy which he then takes a 5 foot step up and touches at Gabriel.

Touch Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 3 = 28

And he succeeds as a surge of electrical energy surges flows through Gabriel doing 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 6) = 18

The Kapak draconian still pissed off that he took a lance through the body decides to move up and start stabbing Gabriel. Gabriel gets an attack of opportunity as he moves in a way to flank with an ally. Fortunately he cannot poison his weapon at the same time. He tries to acrobatics to avoid an Attack of Opportunity

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 2 + 5 = 22

Still this does not stop the Draconian who goes for a rib strike with his short sword.

Attack Roll Short Sword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Unfortunately for the Kapak he can't get a good upward stab into an unarmored area of the body.

Unfortunately Terevalis is blocked by many obstacles in the way and fails to hit with his radiant dart against his target (Shooting into melee and through allies.)

The other Kapak draconian not liking Mithas licks an arrow and shoots at him.

Arrow Attack Kapak: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

But the arrow misses.

Round 4

"Your magic isn't strong enough wizard, I see you are the eager one to taste my blade."

Gabrile drops his lance and draws his sword to attack the mage draconian.

So I guess Draconians count as evil dragons? If not then the damage will be 6 less.

Well lets get things sorted first but that's one hell of a blow

Cole force bolts the Kapak for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 damage.

The fire elemental double moves in to engage in combat with the Bozak Draconian as ordered.

The Baaz draconian attacks the fire elemental with a sword attack. 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

As for the fire elemental it only arrived on turn 3 as it had to double move twice to reach the combat but no matter he did a defensive casting so he would not of provoked anyway

Round 4

Jor runs forward toward the fight and smacks the Kapak draconian in the back slicing its spine open. It howls in pain and then starts melting away into a puddle of acid and quickly starts dissolving what he is carrying

The angered Gabriel calls upon the might of Kiri-Jolith and smites the evil Bozak striking down from his steed with a mighty blow across the neck of the creature cleanly removing the head from the body of the creature. The body shrivels up however and then explodes in a shower of sharp bones for 1d6 ⇒ 1 to Gabriel, the Kender and the Baaz Draconian. The head dissolves into ash as well.

usually a save of DC 14 for 1/2 damage but it can't do less than 1 anyway. And yes Draconians count as Dragon, it even says it in their profile so smiting them does extra damage

Terevalis detects no magical items just some lingering magic from the death thrones of the Draconians the group killed. As for equipment the Baaz have chainshirt, longsword, small steel shield and a dagger on them. The Kapak's armor and equipment are corroded by acid so only their short swords and the bow the Kapak dropped are salvageable. The Bozak has a longsword, dagger and padded armor that exploded when he went boom. As for money you find only about 30 steel on them altogether which seems like an oddly small amount.
