If anyone is interested in playing a Dragon Age PBP game, I'm opening up a game here on the boards for those who would like to submit a character. I am surprised that I'm doing this now, since usually whenever I start to DM a campaign, I run out of free time. Right now I'm looking for players that can post once or twice every two days, as that will probably be my availability as well.
Another new (to me) system, but I really enjoyed your Arcana Evolved game while it lasted Stardust (no interest in picking it up again?) so I'll put a note of interest in for this. Don't have the books either but if the game is a definite go then I'm happy to invest - the pdfs aren't too expensive.
@Winterwalker - looks like we might be starting a couple of games together if this and the Hellfrost game go ahead. If you are interested we can put our heads together to try and work out some links and themes with our characters.

Sorry about the Arcana Evolved game. First I run out of free time, then after a while it's difficult to maintain my interest in it. Basically,.... I move on. That probably sounds heartless and unfocused. I had another Pathfinder game going at one point, but time had managed to escape me for that one also, so there were three stints where I was unable to post for some time, and the players lost interest. I think I also threw too many puzzles at them.
To answer your questions. If you don't have the PDFs at least for this system, it will be difficult to create a character. The system is different enough from D20 (much faster and easier in my opinion) that knowledge in its basics is a strong requirement for playing.
Character creation is a little random as well, sometimes, so it will be difficult to come up with a character idea (Rogue, Mage, or Warrior) until after you've discerned your base statistics and background. In my opinion this adds to the gritty realism of a Feralden Campaign, although we might be in Tevinter, Orlais, or the Free Marches instead.
OK, thanks for the heads up. I think I'll pass - no offense but if the game starts to get going and then you just leave again then I wouldn't be too pleased at having invested time (and money) in it.

If anyone is interested in participating in this who does not have the rulebooks, please let me know. I believe I can create the character for you based on your character concept. Character Creation mechanics is the only thing that is really different from the d20 mechanics, though the skills and combat are resolved a bit differently. I think I can teach a little about that as the need to know it arises.
This group of gamers needs a DM. The original poster is out of the country for work, and I've already asked my friends if anyone is available to DM the group. Everyone I've asked so far is busy until after March. If someone would like to pick up the reigns for this interested (and interesting) gaming group, please post here and let us know.
