Congrats on the baby, Oscar! And on the dev copy of the book, I'm kind of insanely jealous of that. Working on RPGs seems like it'd be kind of awesome.

Yeah the job's not a very monetarily rewarding kind, but if you like seeing your creations come to life, then yeah it's pretty good.
The book is flipping awesome, I've already made 3 different characters... :/

Julius Anderson |

Man, my collector's edition just cannot get here fast enough...I don't think I've ever been this excited for a new Paizo release. Haven't really heard a single complaint yet-although to be fair, the people who would be getting the core rulebook this early probably aren't the ones who'd hate Starfinder in the first place.

Yeah I'm having a hard time deciding what to play myself. I also am getting a group together to play through the AP, which I'm excited about flipping through at the convention.
Also, am I the only one who thought you were talking about the baby at first? :D Having a baby is certainly not monetarily rewarding, unless you like to see your creation come to life...

You don't truly realize how expensive children can be until you have a child yourself:)

Oscar Whitehall |

I now have two, so I can tell you that I'm quite familiar with 'not monetarily rewarding.' :P
Mad Poet, if you ever do a PBP of the starfinder AP, I'm COMPLETELY on board for it. The character I most want to play is a Human Mechanic-Scholar that's a Wayfinder.

Hey, just giving you guys a heads up-I'm going on vacation on Sunday, and almost certainly won't have much (if any) of an internet connection for the next week. Please feel free to bot me as much as needed. And don't let me die! Should be able to make posts tomorrow, just wanted to let you know.

GM: Let me know when Mara has finished meditating. She'll join in the discussion about Sara then.

It would save a lot of time if someone could bring Mara up to speed on what they have seen before meeting her. Everyone so far has offered no knowledge of anything outside the room where she woke up, or give any hint of what they are trying to do. I'm trying to come up with an in-character reason of why she would want to join the party.

Dervak |

This AP is totally steeped in paranoia, which is great thematically, except that it is very hard to see how or why the characters should trust each other.
So I'll metagame Dervak to be more trusting here than he would otherwise be. Otherwise he would have as little reason to trust you; he knows shapechangers can fool him so he won't trust his intuition anymore.

Oscar Whitehall |

We technically knew each other before, and we are supposed to have some kind of subconscious understanding of that. Unless the gm wants to do it otherwise, of course.

Mara's position on the map is fine.
1st lvl: Bless, Cure Light Wounds
Spirit Spell: Color Spray (DC 15)

Dervak |

Dervak is fine where he is.

Waiting to find out if Mara heard anything more outside the door. Depending on what happens, she might open the door a crack and have a look...

Oscar Whitehall |

The crossbow clatters to the ground. "Ha!" Julius taunts. "That's what you get for firing first and asking questions later, right Oscar?" he shouts.

Hehehe. It's fine! And funny.
I really need to boost my sense motive.

Hey guys, I'm back from vacation! GM, thanks a ton for botting me, I think you did great with Julius's snark/accidentally being a bit of a dick from time to time.

For what it's worth, Julius could use the Dodging Panache deed to make room for Dervak (the other "guard" doesn't have a weapon in hand for an AoO). It wouldn't prevent the hit, but he could move 5ft afterwards.

Dervak |

I try to be fair; I also called out when Daze wouldn't work for our guys. Not meaning to step on your toes but these things don't need any extra advantage!!
(Also, it's Polymorph rules. Of course it's going to be confusing and require cross-referencing to figure out...)

Opportune Parry and Riposte (Ex): At 1st level, when an opponent makes a melee attack against the swashbuckler, she can spend 1 panache point and expend a use of an attack of opportunity to attempt to parry that attack. The swashbuckler makes an attack roll as if she were making an attack of opportunity; for each size category the attacking creature is larger than the swashbuckler, the swashbuckler takes a –2 penalty on this roll. If her result is greater than the attacking creature's result, the creature's attack automatically misses. The swashbuckler must declare the use of this ability after the creature's attack is announced, but before its attack roll is made. Upon performing a successful parry and if she has at least 1 panache point, the swashbuckler can as an immediate action make an attack against the creature whose attack she parried, provided that creature is within her reach. This deed's cost cannot be reduced by any ability or effect that reduces the number of panache points a deed costs.

GM: On the map, the 'guard' that had the crossbow is next to Mara, not Julius. Did Mara take damage from one of the creatures?

I'll point out that that the first attack doesn't hit Mara (her AC is low, but not that low — the stats in the header reflect her current unarmored state). She wouldn't be staggered in any case: she has 14 HP before taking damage.

I will need to be sure of the current positioning, and whether Dervak is conscious, before posting Mara's actions. If she can take a 5 ft step to a spot not adjacent to an enemy, she is going to cast an AOE spell.

Dervak |

I thought he wasn't hit, but even if he was, Dervak is definitely still conscious. Only at -14 is he down (and dead). Orc Ferocity. Doesn't always use it, but in this circumstance he will.

Mara took a step backwards to put some space between her and the enemy. "Hey, shapechangers, Daddy's got a light show for you!". she cried. Her eyes turned pitch black, and the colors around her drained away. A split second later, a torrent of clashing colors burst forth from her outstretched hand, washing over the dopplegangers.
Casting a DC 15 Color Spray. She will try to angle the spell to catch both enemies, while missing her allies. If necessary, she will leave one enemy out of the 15 ft cone to avoid hitting her friends.

GM: Can we clarify which PCs took damage this round? From the monster attack rolls, it looks like they scored two hits, but more than two of us have recorded the damage. Being 1st lvl, we don't exactly have HP to spare:)
