Lenna Obon |

Lenna heals Mira before retreating to behind the other two and drawing her starknife.
CLW: 1d8 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
Good thing Lenna has a large modifier otherwise the healing would be piddly.

Mira Everest |

She's up to 34, which is more than anyone else at the moment, so she should be fine. But thanks for checking!

Strange Old Lady |

I'm going to assume Zoltan casts a CLW on Lenna or Sunny then so we can move ahead. Zoltan, go ahead and roll the healing. Lenna and Zoltan, remember you were hit by dino skeleton attacks for 15 and 9 damage respectively so please update your status lines.
The kobold makes a motion with its staff and the last remaining skeleton moves next to it.
Fast mount?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Never mind. Fast mount isn't applicable here anyway...
Skeleton reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Acro jump: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Mira Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
The kobold climbs up onto the monster who then leaps across the pits and manages to stand on the border of one without falling in. The dark-scaled kobold mage then brings forth a flash of brilliant lights at Mira but her iron determination shrugs off the effects.
Everyone but Mira up as she is after the third dino skelly.

Sunreturn |

Sunreturn stomps towards the kobold.
"Sometimes the simple ways are best.", he says almost placidly as he swings his quarterstaff.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Sunreturn |

Ooops! And nearly whoops!

Lenna Obon |

"Mimi, wait for my signal."
Lenna eyebrow furrows. Smoke appears and shroud the barbarian, oracle, necromancer and the skeletal creature to block their vision.
Silent Image to replicate obscuring mist (Will DC 16 to disbelieve). On an OOC perspective, feel free to ignore Lenna's suggestion if Mira succeed her save. If she fails her save, it is implied that Lenna is telling Mira to delay until she removes it as free action next turn which is after the necromancer and dinosaur turns. She can either heed it or ignore it.

Strange Old Lady |

Wills: 5d20 ⇒ (14, 5, 8, 16, 11) = 54
Full attack Mira: 4d20 ⇒ (6, 1, 18, 12) = 37
Dam: 3d6 + 20 + 1d8 ⇒ (2, 2, 4) + 20 + (5) = 33
Wow... Everyone saves. Sunny and Zoltan hit exactly the DC thanks to the warning. Good strategy. Unfortunately, "everyone" includes the baddies this time. Mira, you're in beast form right now, yes? Just checking that 17s and higher hit you. The nat 1 would hit except, you know, nat 1.
The skeleton tears at Mira with bloody tooth and claw (33 dam in 3 hits before DR).
Mira is at -1 hp dropping her from rage to -9, yes? I'm going by your current hp in human form.

Mira Everest, Raptor Form |

All good! Mira bellows in pain but steps forward to lash back with tooth and claw of her own. If they're not bloody yet, they soon become so. 5-foot step and full-attack.
Bite Damage: 1d6 + 15 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 15 + 4 = 22
Claw Attack: 1d20 + 17 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 17 - 2 + 1 = 18
Claw Damage: 1d6 + 15 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 15 + 4 = 25
Claw Attack: 1d20 + 17 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 17 - 2 + 1 = 30
Claw Damage: 1d6 + 15 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 15 + 4 = 20
Gore Attack: 1d20 + 17 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 17 - 2 + 1 = 28
Gore Damage: 1d8 + 15 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 15 + 4 = 26
Talon Attack: 1d20 + 17 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 17 - 2 + 1 = 34
Talon Damage: 1d8 + 15 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 15 + 4 = 24
Talon Attack: 1d20 + 17 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 17 - 2 + 1 = 19
Talon Damage: 1d8 + 15 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 15 + 4 = 20

Liz the Compsognathus |

Assuming that kills the last skeleton: Seeing her human in danger, Liz growls ferociously. The pony-sized dinosaur charges forward and snaps at the kobold mage.
Bite Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 2 + 1 = 19
Bite Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 plus poison, DC 14 Fort save or take 1d2 Str damage each round

Strange Old Lady |

What are Liz's saves?
reflex Liz: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Kobold reflex: 1d20 ⇒ 9
conc: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Wills: 2d20 ⇒ (6, 6) = 12
During: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Fall dam: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9
Thanks to the holy spell, Mira destroys the last skeleton. Liz surges forward to attack but has trouble keeping her hold on the edge of the pit and falls in (9 dam). The kobold steps fearlessly toward Mira and casts a spell right in the terrifying Dino's face. Clashing colors strike into her and Sunreturn. Both are stunned (4 rounds).
Everyone up since dino Skelly's down.

Sunreturn |

Sunreturn stands woozily, unable to act due to the kobold's magic.

Lenna Obon |

Dang, that 4 rounds stun is brutal. Will be waiting until Zoltan goes. If he does not respond within the day, I will get Lenna's action in. Too bad, she is not close enough to heal. That would be her action if she is. Should have 5 ft step previously.

Sunreturn |

Yeah, not a lot to be done about it from Mira or Sunreturn for a while.

Liz the Compsognathus |

Liz flinches as the colors swarm around her, but they only make her more angry. As Mira stands there, stunned, her familiar steps forward and chomps down viciously on the kobold's tail. Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 6 + 1 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 plus poison again, DC 14 Fort save or DC 16 if it failed the first one

Strange Old Lady |

Fort 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Fort 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Str dam: 1d2 ⇒ 1
The sorcerer looks seriously weakened by the repeated attacks of the loyal reptile. The dark kobold looks with confusion at the two dinosaur forms who are attack her as she totters on the edge of death.
Lenna still to go.

Lenna Obon |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Lenna moves 10 ft forward and readies an action to cast solid note, placing the note between the kobold jaws to prevent the kobold from wording her next spell (such as using the verbal component).

Strange Old Lady |

Cool idea, Lenna! I don't know how to resolve that but I'll say that it requires the kobold to make the strength check to move it away.
Str: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
Conc: 1d20 ⇒ 11
The kobold manages to hack Lenna's magical object out of its mouth as it begins chanting a last minute spell with a fierce look in its eye.
5 ft step away from pit and casting a full round spell defensively. Everybody up.

Lenna Obon |

Isn't the strength check a standard action? Not getting how the kobold can still be casting.

Strange Old Lady |

Lenna, I was unsure how to resolve such a creative use of the spell so I had the kobold roll a strength check. It isn't clear to me that the spell always requires the strength check as a standard. If you out it in front of a charging Barb, I'd probably allow the strength check as part of the charge. Similar idea here. The kobold had a terrible chance of making the check so I thought that was, probabilistically, a fair reward of your creativity. The kobold rolled high. Do you think it would make more sense to have you make a ranged touch attack roll to place the note so precisely in a moving mouth? I'm open to that option. But a 1st level spell that can automatically shut down a spell with verbal components doesn't seem correct or RAI to me.

Lenna Obon |

I see. I guess I will not complain and take the breathing space that we are given. Can we disrupt the kobold's spell if we damage it on our turn?

Lenna Obon |

Wow, Liz is on fire. All of her attacks did maximum damage. It's like every attack she makes translates to "You mess with my master, I'll mess you up" or "You mess with the wrong dino, whelp."

Sunreturn |

Go Liz! And that fits Liz's back story too iirc.

Sunreturn |

Sunreturn shakes his head, then starts searching the kobold's body.
"Well done. How about northwest?"

Mira Everest |

Woo! Yeah, Liz really got her moment to shine. Flavor-wise she's an azata taking dino form to nudge Mira toward good, so fierce protectiveness is very in-character.
Mira shifts back into human form just in time to start gagging from the fading onslaught of colors. 9 rounds of rage remaining. She blinks in confusion as the world spins around her, eyes finally settling on Liz. "But it... you... how?" She rubs her temple. "That was - "
Sunreturn's words shake her out of it. "Northwest? Northwest." Mira turns to the northwest.

Mira Everest |

Yeah, but just realized I forgot the two rounds she used to jump to that island and back. So seven rounds remaining.

Lenna Obon |

Lenna heals barbarian up with her wand before they go.
CLW wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
CLW wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
CLW wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
39 charges left on her wand.
The halfling then uses grave words on the necromancer to see if it reveals any information.

Lenna Obon |

"Eggs. Sounds just about right."
Lenna turns to Mira as she taps her wand on Sunreturn and Zoltan.
"From what you told me, you are quite a dinosaur raiser. You are going to have a handful of dinolings following you around if you take in the eggs we are going to come across."
CLW wand on Zoltan: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
CLW wand on Sunreturn: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Any loot?

Strange Old Lady |

On the kobold, you find a dagger, a cloak, an emerald clasp, and the trappings of a priest.
The holy symbols and other markings identify this as a priest of the kobold god of traps, Kurtulmak, whose holy symbol is a crossbow bolt dripping poison.
You enter a square chamber with a statue of Kurtulmak in the center with an irregular ring of rubble around it. Small lizards scurry all over the room. You are in the Southeast corner of the chamber. There are passageways at each corner. The room is about 50 feet across.

Mira Everest |

With her wounds healed and her vision cleared Mira seems much more steady, though she does keep looking down at Liz in sheer bafflement. Lenna's comment even brings a laugh out of her. "Not likely. The part of dinosaur-raising I was best at was pinning them to floor of their pens when they got too rowdy. And look where that's got me." She tilts her head thoughtfully. "Though if we do spot some eggs I might be able to find a buyer..."
Seeing Sunreturn retrieve some items of interest from the kobold, Mira scans them with her trusty radar. Detect magic.
Mira whistles at the sight of the strange room. "Don't know about you guys, but I've got a twinge in my shoulder that screams 'trap'."
