Sweet! Greece is a place I've always wanted to see. Most of my travel is to Latin America, but I'm getting across the pond on occasion. Other than Athens, where would you recommend visiting, F. Castor?
Well, it really depends on what you are looking for. Thessaloniki is an option; kinda like Athens but smaller and it has its own charms. Mani (in Peloponnisos) has quite a few places to visit and its buildings in general are quite old and actually reminiscent of small castles in architecture, a bit austere too. There is Crete, quite the large island and with both seas and mountains to visit, or Lesvos, another large island. Honestly, too many places to mention.
If ever you do plan to visit Greece, send me a pm and I will try my best to suggest a destination or two depending on what you are after. And if you visit Athens in particular, look me up for a cup of coffee or something.

Well, Tuesday I will be back to work and in effect enough time to actually make something, crunch at the very least.
I was mostly just wondering if Old Guy GM and The Morphling had decided on what their characters were going to be. The former seems to be going with a Human Soldier, I think?

Pilot means I need to max out my dex so Operative seemed the obvious choice, though I have played one of those before. Piloting checks are the most crucial element of starship combat and getting them as high as possible is essential to success.
Though if you want to take the pilot role as our Operative I could take another role on our ship. I've been tossing around the idea of a Dwarven Exo-Cortex Mechanic, using the racial proficiency in advanced melee weapons to be a master of ranged and melee. Heavy armor, combat tracking, advanced melee and even heavy weapons at higher levels.

F. Castor |

Well, one could make a Dexterity-based Soldier as well and still fill the Pilot ship role, I think.
I am actually not maxing Dexterity myself. Still, between keeping the Pilot skill maxed and the Operative's Edge class feature my guy should be alright taking up that role. But as I have said, I am fine with any ship role other than Captain really.

Ugh, so I was going through the classes again and found the 'Military Officer' in the envoy builds (pg 66 Core Rules). This has had the effect of throwing my well-made plans into a tizzy.
I am going with the envoy build. We will still be pretty combat effective with the mechanics and the operatives, and I won't be a slouch either. I think having a face-type will be of benefit to the group, plus envoys have a load of skills as well.

Oh, I love architecture. Mani sounds quite lovely, and the pictures I just googled delivered. I was not aware of this place before - thanks for that.
Some day, in the next few years, we hope to get there. We're probably sticking with Latin America right now (it is close, and plane rides will be less of an issue for the baby). But when we do get over, I'll definitely shoot you a PM!

I adore Envoys, I'm glad we'll have one aboard.
So what do we have picked out so far? If we have no spellcasters I think I'm gonna play one of those instead of a second/third mechanic.
The fluff of a Star Shaman Mystic captivates me but I have to take a look at the other ones to really decide more based on crunch.

Far as I can tell?
F. Castor: Arannis Crane, Male Android Operative
Fighting Chicken: Lolo Aeolo, Female Ysoki Mechanic (Drone)
Old Guy GM: Kara Savyn, Female Human Envoy
RavenVoron: Johnathan "Raven" Fletcher, Male Human Mechanic (Exocortex)

Sounds like we make progress! Exciting. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
Let me know if you want to tie backstories together or be a bunch of strangers meeting for first time (or a mixture thereof).
My usual preference for gaming is to run a bit of a solo scenario for a few posts, allow everyone to get into character, before bringing the group together - see here for a previous example of what I mean.

I think a mixture thereof is always cool, though it will depend on the various backstories I guess.
And I readily admit I very much enjoyed the mini solo scenario, so I would definitely not mind if you go with it again. :-)
Dr. Crane did consider deactivating his creation, but quickly decided against it, feeling he did not have the right. In the end, he decided to allow the android, Arannis as he came to call him, to exist and in time he started to care for the artificial being, not unlike the way he had cared for his own son. He had created him after all.
The two lived together on Verces until the scientist finally passed due to old age. The man's death saddened the android, not least because he had been his only company ever since his creation. For Josiah had never allowed Arannis to leave the building they shared, but not out of simple possessiveness or anything like that. The scientist had used experimental military technology to create his son's facsimile based on adaptive nanites and not entirely tested cybernetic components, which meant that in theory at least Arannis was not simply able to learn as he accumulated experiences, but also that his body could adapt and change depending on those experiences. It was for that reason that Dr. Crane kept the android indoors.
In fact, even after his passing, Arannis remained within the building for a time, but eventually his curiosity did get the better of him. It was not like he was oblivious to the world outside his home's walls -Josiah had certainly taught him about various subjects and always ekpt him apprised of current events- but hearing about them and actually living them are two very different things. So one day Arannis Crane did in fact step out of that building. And now, five years later, has yet to step back in.

Well, I think I am more or less finished. Probably some details left but that should be it. Fighting Chicken and RavenVoron I think are complete as well? Old Guy GM was supposed to work on Kara after some site problems and The Morphling was still deciding between a Mystic and a Technomancer. But since it has been a while since last they posted, I am not really sure other than the above summary.

Been preoccupied with other things, this slipped my mind for a few days. I do think I've got a character picked out though. After originally dismissing the connection as uninteresting, I've been struck by a sudden interest in playing an Akashic Mystic. I'll get back to you with details once I've picked a race and put the character together.

Lolo Aeolo |

Interesting! A 3 part, monthly AP, based it seems in the spirit of SW?
That sounds pretty cool, and I'm a big fan of the 3-release arc. I kind of wish PF would do something like that - 2 smaller releases a year to go with one large 6 month release.

F. Castor |

Sounds interesting, sure, but does that not also mean a lower character level by the end of it, unless each part is grander in scale than the 6-part AP's parts? I do recognize of course that PbPs do not often reach the higher levels, but I do also admit I like the prospect that they may get that chance if all goes well. It is the main reason actually why I avoid recruitments regarding one-shots and modules and the like.
Not to mention that this particular AP seems to be coming out at August.

Lolo Aeolo |

Not to mention that this particular AP seems to be coming out at August.
Sure, it doesn't fit our timeline. Unless were still in character creation phase at that time :)
And yep, it likely means lower character level, as it looks like this AP starts at level 1. There's no reason that they have to start at level 1 with these though. I hope they create mid and high level 3 issue arcs, personally.

OK, good news: I got a promotion. Bad news: I now have a metric ****-ton of extra work to do, plus travel.
I’m still around, but I won’t be able to post once a day. We’re looking like – at best – every other day. I’m happy to run this game, but please bear with me cos we’re going to be going slow-and-steady.

F. Castor |

Hmm...
Would anyone mind if I change my guy from an operative to a soldier with a close combat focus? I think I would prefer something simpler and more straightforward.
Also, have you decided on ship roles? As far as I can tell, Kara will probably be the Captain, while the two mechanics with share the roles of Engineer and Science Officer between them? I could be mistaken of course.
