DM Giants
Most of the crowd just want to meet Serila but some believe her to be touched by a God and want her to cure their blindness or lame leg or other such things. Serila does what she can but she can not cure the seriously afflicted of the crowd, which cause some of them to grow angry. The crowd settles down as Hajar commands their attention with a loud clear voice.
Augustine Kalivas
I'm around, but I'll admit I'm not the greatest at the RP of this "in between" adventures part. I don't really know where I should be or what I should be doing so feel free to nudge me in the right direction as needed
Satisfied with his newly dyed cloak, August wanders a bit, wondering what the others are up to.
Keanan Garnet-Gold
Keanan wanders around and sees the crowd around Serila and notices someone trying to calm the crowd. One big roar from Balazar might do it. "Balazar, tell them to go away!"
"ROAR!" Two second pause. "ROAR!"
Keanan smiles. "Yep, that probably will do it. Good job."
Un'gra
"Ya think this lot is still gonna be a problem? I'd like to take another look at that old temple to Cayden but I'd hate for this lot to get crazy on you."
How far is the temple/ brewery from where Serila is now? Could I go investigate the outside and still hear Serila or Harjar if they yelled?
Serila Gudlinck
"Dear people, please calm down. I will try to help whoever I can, but I can't help all of you. I cannot cure blindness, and can't make lame limbs work again. The goddess Sarenrae had resurrected me, but I don't have the formidable powers of the goddess herself. Please understand."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 I have a feeling they won't...
Serila whispers to Un'Gra. "We might have to do that a bit later than I'd planned, but I will come with you and try to help."
DM Giants
"She thinks she is above us. Better then us, that is why she will not help us." One women says and the crowd starts to get loud again.
Then Balazar uses her diplomacy, which causes some of the crowd to flee others wail with fright and the rest of the crowd takes a step back away from the lion.
After a few moments the crowd slow breaks up, leaving the ground standing in the street.
Damn, Serila you where doing so well helping the poor of the town but that roll just killed it.
Keanan Garnet-Gold
"Balazar, I want you to guard Serila for a while. Go."
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Guard is a known trick for Balazar, so DC 10. Good thing it's a +4 skill and +4 for link with that roll.
Balazar looks confused at first, not sure if she believes her eyes that the dead lady is now walking. But, after some urging, Balazar will wander over to Serila and hang out with her.
"Hey Serila, perhaps Balazar can keep the crowd from getting too rowdy around you. She sort of has that effect."
Serila Gudlinck
Let's try again later... :(
When the woman speaks Serila looks shocked. Serila's about to reply when Keanan and Balazar step in, but closes her mouth when Balazar roars. As Serila quietly watches the crowd break up she speaks in a hurt voice, too soft for others to hear. "I don't..."
"Thank you, Keanan." Serila pats Balazar's head. "Hey girl, how are you?"
"Un'Gra, shall we visit the clerics now?"
Hajar nar Jundi
Hajar watches the scene unfold with a curious look on his face. He is watching Serila with keen anticipation.
Atsushia Greyeyes
The halfling was walking in the street of this little new town, nearing the church, when she heard a lion's roar.
*What would a lion do in a town? Had it come from the forests? I just hope it will harm no one. Let's see if I can be of any help.. from a distance*
Surprised, and frightened, she proceeded cautiously around the street, only to get nearly knocked down by town people running away from the beast. Getting back on her feet, she says for herself
I fear the worst...
And walks to the direction the townpeople came from
Serila Gudlinck
"Please don't blame them for their behavior, Un'gra. They may appear unfriendly, but most of them are simply desperate for help."
I'll try helping them again later. If only I was able to do more...
"Let's check out Cayden's temple first," Serila suggests and starts walking, "It was abadoned earlier, but maybe the clerics have returned."
DM Giants
Greyeyes comes around the corner see the crowd disperse and an unsusal group of individuals talking with each other. There is a dwarf that looks like a lion with a lion next to him, an attractive human female with bright white hair, a rough looking Half-Orc with a darkwood bow slung over his back, a trim warrior with a red cloak and a tall man with an off-white wrap around his head and shoulders with a sword hanging at his belt.
Un'gra
"I think it's been abandoned for a long time, but maybe Klein went inside. "
Un'gra approaches the temple and looks the door over then checks to see if its locked.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Serila Gudlinck
"So where did you find Cayden's clerics, the ones who didn't want to talk to you?" Serila asks as she watches Un'gra check the door to the temple.
Keanan Garnet-Gold
There is a dwarf that looks like a lion
You know, the avatar does make me look like the cowardly lion. Also, the lion is now with Serila. Balazar will stay with her for now.
Un'gra
"I meant any clerics" Un'gra says, gesturing around him. "I talked to some of the random clerics here, but nobody said much. Never saw any clerics of Cayden here."
Sorry the way I stated it earlier wasn't clear, which I guess makes sense with Un'gra talking
Serila Gudlinck
"Anyone inside? Hello? If you don't reply we'll have to assume you've passed out, which means we'll open the door by force to save you. Please respond, as it'll save you some hinges."
If no one responds Serila turns to the others. "Could one of you open it? I don't trust this situation. Someone inside might need our help."
DM Giants
@ August because you guys are like rockstars. LOL
No one answers the door at the Temple of Cayden.
Un'gra
Un'gra attempts to open the door, if it's locked he attempts to pick the lock.
Disable Device to pick lock with MW tools: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Alright, can I just take 10 on that?
Atsushia Greyeyes
Puzzled, Atsushia gets closer from the strange group.
They don't seem to be afraid by this lion.. could it be a pet? Were they threatening the crowd, and now planning to rob a temple in bright daylight? I'm not a religious person, but i'm sure it's agaisnt human law too.
Seeing one of the townpeople backing away from the strange group, she tries to get more information
Do you know who theses folks are? Why do they try to break into this temple?
Diplomacy check (untrained): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
DM Giants
@Un'gra yes you can take a 10 or 20 to unlock a lock.
The door is simply barred from the inside. Un'gra slips his shortsword between the doors and lifts the board holding the doors shut.
Opening the doors you see what looks like an old brewery.
DM Giants
Un'gra
"Somebody shut this from the inside." Un'gra takes a step inside and shouts, "If someone is still in here, they better say now. My friends don't like suprises." Un'gra listens for a moment for a reply or reaction.
Un'gra turns to the group. "Want to help me look around? Probably empty but maybe some good beer left behind. "
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Serila Gudlinck
"I'll back you up," Serila replies with a nod. She draws her loaded crossbow, and peers into the brewery. "Anyone inside?! I wish you no harm! Please show yourself if you're inside, and we can talk about what happened!"
No idea if anything happened, but oh well...
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Atsushia Greyeyes
"The Taint"? Never heard of it, but it sounds bad... Maybe I'd better try to be helpful so. Thank you for your time and the information, sir.
The little woman smiles and nods, then walks towards the group, rising her voice to be heard over the grunts and splintering wood
Excuse me... Excuse me! Yes, you there, near the lion...
Serila Gudlinck
"Hello!" Serila says as she turns to Atsushia, "We're investigating this temple."
"My friend here," Serila points at Un'Gra, "wanted to speak to the clerics of his god, but the temple appeared to have been abandoned. Turned out the door was barred from the inside. I fear something bad might've happened. Will you come with us to investigate it?"
"Balazar, you smell something?"
@Keanan: Do you mean to say you not mind when I make Balazar's rolls? Or would you rather be the one rolling for her?
Hajar nar Jundi
Hajar watches the group move to the abandoned temple and break into it. He is sure that they aren't evildoers, so this means their task must be something else, he continues watching from afar.
DM Giants
The Brewery is empty but you do find a small table turned over with the letters K.K. carved into the top and what looks like a deck of playing cards scattered around.
Keanan Garnet-Gold
@Keanan: Do you mean to say you not mind when I make Balazar's rolls? Or would you rather be the one rolling for her?
SCENT is of course not a roll, which is probably overpowered but that's the rule. The problem is you can't ask Balazar if she smells something, it's just an automatic thing. I only do that in game as a way of in-character providing a polite reminder to the GM (cough) of her ability, since just about every GM on the planet hates Scent, it ruins the surprise factor they enjoy having.
Atsushia Greyeyes
The halfling woman replies with a polite voice
If I may be of any assistance in your task... My name is Astushia Greyeyes, by the way. Do you know when the priests were last seen, and by whom?
She walks to the temple now opened doors, trying to sneak a peek Inside while not getting too close from the lion. You can see the small woman better now, she wears a small cat's head attached to a necklace, and a spot of ink marks her left cheek, sometimes hidden by her hair. She wears quite casual clothes, and seems to be a traveler
Augustine Kalivas
August turns to the halfling who seems to be well mannered, and he doesn't want to seem rude.
"Greetings Astushia, you may call me August"
While August attempts to be polite he becomes conscious of his eyes darting back to the cat's head necklace.
I'm more of a dog person anyway...What till the dwarf sees that
Keanan Garnet-Gold
Un'gra
"Uh, sure. I'm Un'gra, canya see if you can find another way out"
Un'gra walks over to the overturned table and looks it over. "Looks like something went wrong here, maybe somebody was cheating. Actually my friend, Klein was a bit of sore loser. He must have been here. But where did he go? " Un'gra gathers the cards.
Perception to look for signs of where Klein went: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Serila Gudlinck
Serila moves in after Un'gra, Balazar following her. Once inside the church Serila looks for signs that indicate the presence of people.
Who barred the door, and where did he go? Is it this Klein person?
DM Giants
DM Giants
Un'gra
Un'gra is silent for a few moments then stands up from where he is looking at the signs of struggle. He starts speaking, his voice a bit shaky at first. "Klein was definitely here, looks like he probably fought with someone. Probably just over the cards... I hope. Anyone see another way out?
Atsushia Greyeyes
Atsushia wanders in the temple
So this is a temple of Cayden Caylean? I'm not very familiar with temples... but i was expecting more people in it.It seems something wrong happened here, anyway.
looking for clues: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Keanan Garnet-Gold
"My better half is protecting the recently resurrected girl from the townsfolk, so we don't have to resurrect her again. Once their done looking around some temples or churches, I'll be on my way back to the witch's hut. Now, may I have some simple food and some of that special brew you have. I could use a drink after what I saw today."
Keanan sits down at a table. He's still very disturbed about the display of power by the other god, almost making him question his own faith.
Hajar nar Jundi
The group moved into the abandoned temple and Hajar moved a little closer intrigued as to the goings on.
Serila Gudlinck
From the other side of the small building Serila calls out to the otehrs. "There's a back entrance here! The door's unlocked, so they probably left through this door."
"Un'gra, you good at thracking?" Serila asks while she tries to find tracks to determine where the people who left through the back entrance went. Her lack of experience in doing this sort of thing doesn't help much.
Un'gra
Un'gra heads toward Serila. "I tracked a few deer, guess I could try the same with people foot prints."
Un'gra heads out the back door, trying not to step on any tracks he sees.
Survival: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Hajar nar Jundi
Hajar waits a little while but the group doesn't come out, so he goes to check around the back.
Serila and Un'gra I'll let you decide if he runs into you guys back there.
DM Giants
Worships Way Alley
This narrow, long alley severs both the Worship Way and the street running parallel to it. A muddy ditch runs down the center, which by the smell is used as the sewer for the people occupying the surrounding buildings.
Serila Gudlinck
When she looks around Serila notices Hajar. "You coming with us? We could probably use some help. It looks like someone's been dragged down the alley..."
Serila draws her crossbow and loads it with a normal bolt, then follows Un'gra down the alley.
DM Giants
Worship Way Alley
Following the drag marks south the alley ends joining with a main thoroughfare where the drag mark stop and several sets of prints can be found. Once out on to the main road the tracks mesh with all the other wagon and foot traffic.
