Daria indicates the one door out of the room, clearly worried the laughter might be drawing more attention, and after adjusting her tactical position takes aim with her crossbow in case someone...something comes in that way.

She nods before cracking her knuckles.

"Yeah, they know we're here, at this point, I think we gotta pick a direction and take it."

Assuming a round of downtime and two rounds of laughing
Status Update, 30/45 HP, Rage 3/7, Ki 4/4, Panache 2/2, 4 rounds left on shield and beast mode, 50 minutes on mage armor, 5 minutes on temp HP from Cruel weapon.

"I'll lead the way, don't have long left on my defensive buffs."

Diene will move into the next room, and if she doesn't immediately spots foes, will use her second move action to try to enter another room if possible.


@Isama: that is going to be surprisingly useful. The laughter lasts way more than 2 rounds, as well.

"You don't want to cross them." the man warns "They get you in your dreams. The house is haunted, too. That cackling isn't the half of it! Look - I just run the drugs in and out of the tunn - watch out!"
This last is directed at Diene as she leads the way to the door.

Diene:

As she spoke, she checked her crossbow, making sure it was loaded and ready, casually aiming it at their prisoner:"Lack of sleep really puts one on edge. You understand! On EDGE!"

She knew quite well that she was far from intimidating...many of her behaviourisms and quirks were focused on enhancing her cover as a human child...but it could still serve to throw him off balance, maybe give a remark or make a statement that could help. Or not. It didn't really matter. Diene was on the move again, and sticking together seemed sensible in such a place.

Daria enjoys the pats. Usually all she gets are headpats...getting backpats was, then, a desirable alteration. All the while she was very alert and focused on her acting superior. Not because she was really worried about the woman, but because she wouldn't want to miss it if she DID find a trap.

Diene is AC 14+4+4=22.
Both miss - both would have hit. That uncanny dodge really is uncanny.

Warned by the drug runner's shout as she enters the room past the old stage, Diene's uncanny sixth sense notes a touch of malevolence and she ducks, suddenly and for no visible cause - then steps to the side as if possessed. For no explicable reason a breeze ruffles Diene's hair as she ducks, and as she sidesteps the ground where the copper stood not a moment before cracks as if subject to some great impact.

Yeah, Diene smells something - don't blame her, the scene was scary enough - more to the point...I can't really do anything. As said, my spell list was based on minimizing overlap with Castor - lots of utility missing.


As Ophelia rounds the corner she sees... something, perched on top of the stage and striking down at Diene.
Creature used its held attack. Pcs are up. Ophelia has LOS and can see. Diene can sense within 5ft. Isama ponders Faerie Fire (likely to be some friendly faerie fire in that, though) and Daria regrets all those beans.

She advances and describes the target at the same time, not doing an adequate job of either. Eventually she makes a mechanical sigh and draws her wand of silent image. "Hit the red blob!"

Move closer to spread Circle, Standard to Silent Image a target icon ontop of the critters center of mass.

Daria tries to understand where to aim from Ophelias instructions, and the moment the target icon appeared, understood what Ophelia expected - swiftly lining up her shot, she pulled the trigger, and noted with some satisfaction that the bold seemed to have hit SOMETHING:"There!"

It compares favorably to the "blind flailing" option of attempting to hit an invisible target. Also, I thought it was 4 10x10 cubes, +1 per CL, so, for a wand wouldn't it be 5? Or am I remembering incorrectly?

Diene's flurry of blows seems to bring no result, but when Ophelia lights up the area with a red blob, both Isama and Daria hit!

Whatever this thing is, it can fly. Diene feels a sudden impact, a whoosh, and a moment later Ophelia's red blob lashes out, then ascends a good five feet into the air.

I do not believe that hits me. My base unbuffed AC is 14, and I have Mage Armor (+4 Armor), Polymorph -> Beast Shape 2 (+2 Nat Armor), and Shield (+4 Shield) running.

Diene feels a hit.. but her thick hide at the moment takes most of the impact, leaving her more or less unharmed.

Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Miss Chance, high good: 1d100 ⇒ 29
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27

+3 damage on first hit of the round
Swift Action Intimidate upon hit: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (12) + 22 = 34
If hits a demoralized opponent, inflict sickened for one round.
If target is designated, +2 hit/damage

But she seems to continue to be unable to make good contact on the target with her flailing.

1 round left on Shield/Beast Form, plenty left on Mage Armor. 5 minutes left on Temp Hp from Cruel


Fair enough - thought we worked out it was 22 earlier. All goods.

Another bolt hits home, but Diene and Isama miss. Emboldened the creature concentrates on its target, this time actually connecting with Diene.

Daria hopes to return her previous Feat - waiting for Ophelia to mark the target. As the movement becomes steady, she leads her target and pulls the trigger...the same moment that it abruptly stops. Quickly fetching a new bolt, she curses silently as her bolt sails over her target.

I had originally thought it was 22 as well, but then you guys showed me it would count as Beast Shape 2, not Alter Self, for the Hybrid form.

Diene's looking a little worse for wear, the sadistic powers of her Cruel Amulet only warding away half the blow she just took, and her protective shield wore away.

Isama and Mia's weapons miss, but Diene's blow hits home, and the creature seems to step back for a moment, hesitating.
More hesitantly now the creature strikes back - but with's Diene's protections diminished even these hesitant blows strike hard.

Daria reloads, takes aim again, holding as Diene overlaps with the target briefly. Taking but a moment to assess how wounded her acting commander looked, Mia shot at the creature responsible.

She was: so 7 damage from Isama, and 7 damage for Mia. I'll even allow the designated bonus for Isama this turn for +2, so +16 damage (and 39 all up).
Daria and Isama take fast and furious vengeance for the ills done their friend. Demorialised and double designated by Daria and Ophelia, Diene's vengeance came due...
