Vitaliano cursed when he saw the man crest the building with blinding speed and just keep going. Still though, this itself was also useful information. He would have to test the Venture about this development and see if there was some way he could use it to his advantage, hopefully tomorrow.
He would have to attend tomorrow despite his desires to continue his hunt if he could not finish his work tonight. He began backtracking his way back, to see if the men had remained nearby to talk or if their passing was noted.

Rather well defended from traditional entry it's an oddity here in the city. It lies close to the easternmost point once can get and not be in the water.
Both Knights enter and thereafter you see guards begin to move about within a bit more robustly. Certainly you would need to climb to enter the place which could be done should you so choose...

Einar follows the shifty Italian, his long strides trying to compensate for the man's quick steps. Not a man, remember? He glances back over his shoulder to make sure they're rid of the scholarly fellow before engaging his new escort.
"Can't a man get his bearings in this damned city before he's expected to parley with royalty?" he grumbles. "What's twisting your Prince's knickers to make him so damned impatient to meet folks?" Einar's irritation is plain and unfeigned.

"I just made my introductions shortly ago, I am still a fledgling, so forgive my bluntness. But by what power could you negotiate for the Tremere, if those leading the clan do not back your claim? If they mean to place Fanchon on the council, it seems a dangerous gambit to try and take the position for yourself. To my limited vision, it would seem safer to attempt to pull strings from the sideline, rather than a frontal assault on the established order of your clan. I understand Tremere childer are bound more tightly than those of other clans, as such I believe they are much less flexible with their loyalties, even if confronted with new ideas or facts. So how do you hope to maintain your position, should you manage to take it?", Franz continues his talk with Radek.
Neither Fanchon nor Radek seemed in a mind to offer anything for support given, or that was simply the way things worked in court, and such talks would take place outside, later. As such, it was more interesting to learn how Radek intended to stand against the - as he called it - Tremere Pyramid by himself.
In the mortal world, especially politics, inconvenient people tended to vanish, with but a hand wave from the mighty. Franz could not imagine it worked much different here.
One more reason to make sure Lanzo is satisfied with me.
Padua, an education
Bernardo slows down just a bit more and looks at the fellow and says the night has a set of rules or laws that we live by. Each prince interprets those laws a bit differently. Rulers of places and areas have been around a long time. Each area that is ruled by another it is seen that one should announce oneself least one be thought of as an enemy. The prince of Padua wants to know who is in his kingdom so he can keep track of what is going on. He is our ruler and elder for those purposes. Understand? The City of Padua -
Bernardo leads Einar away from University and into the heart of the mercantile section of the city. This place is alive with people laughing, living, drinking, and eating.
Bernardo pays them little mind as Einar feels a tug of hunger, his Beast it seems would be satiated even though he is full. The Viking has long learned how to control his own temper though and for now the Beast is held at bay. For now.
Soon enough Bernardo steps into a Tavern in the heart of Padua, the place is raucous with several Bards paying instruments and singing and patrons dancing. The lyrics are dark and disturbing being sung in an eastern language and even though the Viking cannot understand the words something about them is compelling and makes his skin crawl.
Einar's eyes are drawn to the back of the room almost uncontrollably so to a man, southern Italian in complexion, with long dark hair and a dark goatee. Bernardo heads towards that man who is seated approximately ten feet from any of the revelers though all glance in his direction now and then as if seeking his approval. Standing next to him are a man and a woman. The woman has a crooked smile and a dazed look in her eyes. The man is long of limb and tall. She and he mouths words though no sound is uttered from their lips. Strange.
Prince Guilelmo Aliprando looks to Bernardo with a raised eyebrow, "Is this the one who has violated the Tradition of Domain? He matches none of their descriptions Signore' Morosini".

Franz notices form the corner of his eye the Setite coming down the stairs as Radek responds, "My Grandsire stands behind me, not as firmly as I would like but firmly enough that a full fifth of the Tremere will be in agreement with the outcome.
From there it will certainly take some doing to ensure that the rest fall in line. Certainly the remaining Tremere could resist edicts of the Inner Circle simply because they are opposed to my position but they would be seeking a War with the other 12 Clans by doing so.
My Clan is nothing if not practical. So long as I demonstrate that I am capable and wise, which I am, they will fall in line. Perhaps Fanchon and her Sire will begrudge me but as they already do what have I to lose?
My Clan has created a close bond with Clan Toreador both in the British Isles and the Courts of Love and of course the Grand Court in Paris. My Clan has gained the enmity of the Tzimisce and to a lesser extent the Gangrel and the Nosferatu.
My personal goal if elected to the Inner Circle will be to strengthen relations with Clan Ventrue. I believe there are significant synergies between us. I also know that the ties between the Ventrue and the Cappadocian have begun to fray. My Clan is a natural fit to take the mantle of counselors to the Kings of the Cainite world".

Valdemar stands, "You are quite welcome, I appreciate that you did not waste my time with senseless prattle in an effort for self gain.

You step out of the room and turn around and the Lasombra is nowhere to be found... damned shadow walkers.
You head downstairs and pass by Michele Querini who is motioning towards the two members of Clan Salubri.
The Prince is still present but few others remain with the exception of the Ventrue Fledgling and Radek the Tremere.
If anyone else is here they are likely upstairs meeting clandestinely, your own Sire and Rafael are nowhere to be seen.
Heading into the hallway to exit Elysum you pass by the controversial Assamite Fledgling speaking in hushed tones with Helene and Victor. Helene smiles at you serenely as you pass by head towards the Gondola's. Despite the loss of the Inner Circle seat for your Sire, you know that tonight is a new beginning.
You reach home and the city seems much more at peace then it was after the outbreak of violence a few days ago, at least in a view from the canals. You head in and greet the few regular patrons, laying in bed and planning you next moves as the sun rises and you drift off into "sleep".

Lydia grimaces and holds her head down in shame, "You should ahve destroyed me, I failed you and your Sire. I believe the Giovanni entered through that portal and he caught me unawares as a result. I hazard to guess that he utilized Obfuscation to sneak up upon me but I cannot know for sure as before I knew it, the stake was protruding form my chest and I fell in a heap.
Thereafter, I know nothing more except that he placed me in the world between worlds not quite here and not quite there".

Both Lord Benne and I still walk the night and I believe that you may still have an opportunity to avenge yourself from Ambrogino's actions...I am not at all convinced that we will not seek to rid ourselves of the Giovanni after Lord Benne has what he wants from him."
Reaching Lydia's chambers, Lorenzo says "Remain calm, I sense that long-play is more appropriate in this case. Rest well, Lydia. I will see you after the sun sets."

Franz smiles slightly as he listens to Radek. Flattery was empty, submission only temporary, but he made clear that his intended role for clan Tremere would be - desirable.
"There is much to consider. I shall think on it before tomorrow. As you point out the close bond to the Toreador, allow me one last question: What do you make of Talisman, or Michael? And of Fanchons revelation regarding his purity?"
Franz himself still knew little of the history of individuals among the clans, even if he had started doing research in what little spare time was left to him. But it seemed a matter of some importance and impact, and understanding Radeks position on the matter relative to that of others, would possibly help understand Radek.

"I was a member of a Coterie with Sebastian's Sire who now goes by the name Uriel. The body is that of Sebastian, the mind I suppose is that of Michael but perhaps not.
The name Talisman is the alias that this creature used when it was flitting about the Courts of Paris for the past century to avoid being hunted down by the vengeful Romans.
If there is a Clan intimately familiar with Amaranth it is certainly Clan Tremere. It is quite interesting that this metamorphosis has taken place. During the death throes of the Dream of Constantinople in the Fourth Crusade Elders who strode the world as Colossi since the height of Rome fell. Most prominent among them was Michael the Archangel. A long standing rumor was that he perished in the fires that raged in the city as the Crusaders and their western Cainite hangers on sacked the city. His death prompted the War of the Elders that is only here and now being brought to an end.
Another longstanding rumor was that Sebastian had Diablerized Michael and Gesu, the leader of Clan Tzimisce in Constantinople. The rumor was that Gesu and Michael offered themselves to him.
Gesu was the leader of the sect of Tzimisce known as the Obertus whose occult studies focused on transcendence. Unlike the earthly obsessions of their Carpathian cousins, they believed that spiritual metamorphosis could lead to physical metamorphosis.
It seems that the rumor that Sebastian Diablerized Michael is true. Narses and the Malkavian Dimities appear to believe it. Certainly the Romans believed it as they pursued Talisman and Sadir, his companion, for the past century. Sadir had the Setite Courts to protect him once he left Sebastian. Though our Setite friend has his own problems I am sure.
It is clear to me that Sebastian/Michael/Talisman, this it, believes that its power has increased over the past century that it no longer needs to hide. He admitted to staking the agent of the Romans here in the city and surprisingly Narses has not asked it to produce Kestral's staked form.
This was an error on its part as it did not win the Toreador seat of power and stands exposed with few allies though it is personally quite powerful.
If the rumor of Gesu is true, well, I would not be surprised if our Tzimisce brethren would not wish to have a word with this Talisman in private. After all, it is the Blood of Vykos' Grandsire that also flows through Talisman's veins.
Thus, It has enemies on all sides. The Toreador whose power it tried to usurp and whose Patriarch he destroyed. The Tzimisce for taking the blood of one of their most revered. The Romans who as Dimities stated here in Court, prior to your Embrace I believe, sought to destroy Michael for grudges from the days of Caesar's reign.
I have no doubt that Fanchon's revelation is accurate based upon the reckless behavior of Sebastian. No doubt he has become something other than a Salubri or a Toreador or a Tzimisce..."
Radek looks you in the eyes, "More perhaps than you wished to know eh?"

Vitaliano purses his lips as he sees the patrols increase. With the knowledge that a Canite was working with these men and that one of the Ventrue's name was being spoken in dark alleys as a Sorceress, he paused for a few moments and took in the situation. He was deep into the night and needed to head home while he was still undiscovered.
While his curiosity urged him to reconsider and delve deeper into this madness, he had enough knowledge to be dangerous without having to put himself in harms way. He grinned slightly, tonight had been most illuminating. He turned his back on the stronghold and made his way back to the inn. He was eager for the next evening and a chance to speak with this Sorceress before the vote was counted for his clan.

Durdona gives Victor a nod in greeting, and a slight curtsy. "It's my pleasure to meet you. Friends in new situations are nice. It's hard to understand what is going on and who is who in this new court."
She looks around Elysium clearly thinking about a childe being an extension of their sire. "Thank you for your wisdom. I appreciate your assistance in understanding the court, and a childe's place in it. At least when tempers or control is lost you know where someone stands. I'm used to watching ones back for the knife sticking in it without warning. Again thank you, and I do hope to spend some time with you in the future Victor." She politely takes her leave entering the court once again.

If ever I claim to have sated my thirst for knowledge, stake the imposter pretending to be me."
Taking a look around the Court emptying, Franz shrugs: "I believe you are right at least insofar as that our Clans interests align in some objectives, such as a desire to learn, for differing reasons, which is good." After a short pause, he continues: "All the same, I am new to this world, and have even more to learn than most others. I thank you, personally, for the time you took to enlighten me on some matters, and add a new viewpoint for me. As I said, I shall retreat and think on your words. I bid you a good remaining night."

Damn it all, this is what I get for not bringing Cristoval and his silver tongue. The Norwegian goes down to one knee, bowing his head.
"I am Einar Arnesen, your majesty, originally of Norway. I..." He pauses, trying to think of something more to say, but is distracted by the strange, mute utterances of the pair flanking the Prince. Their unspoken words weave themselves in and out of his thoughts, great invisible eels swimming through the river of his mind, disrupting its flow. What the devil are those witches saying?
"...I'm not a courtly man, your majesty; you'd likely get better discourse from an ass than from me. Honestly I'd hoped to have a night to get my bearings here before being called to answer to a G*d-d*mn Prince." What the devil am I saying?! "With all respect, your majesty." He winces. He draws his blade and his eyes begin to glow a golden color as does his blade. Even the boatman takes notice.
As the blade begins to glow you feel... fear. You know you've no defense against this weapon, a weapon that God himself may have blessed. Andrew appears to recognize your discomfort and ceases what he is doing and sheathes his blade.
Brian looks at you, "We believe you and will assist you. You speak of Simon of Clan Nosferatu do you not?"

I may say that I also found out he was long on the path to Golconda which could be another reason for someone to slay him. We too suffered from an assassination attempt but my Childe proved his worth by slaying the would be killer, who utilized a proficiency with Vicissitude...". Brian states as he turns to the Boatman nodding for him to continue to move the Gondola forward. Luckily, at the late hour no Mortals were nearby to observe Andrew's seemingly magical blade.

“Ferdinand mentioned Petradon bc he was counted as one of Simon’s enemies but he didn’t have proof of it. He did say that Simon’s child Christiano Lintini also went missing the same night. He was the proprietor of the Blue Mongoose as a mortal but nothing turned up there. Golconda was described to me as a path that our kind are no longer subjected to the beast. The beast and the hunger could become in balance.”

Your trip back to the Haven is uneventful. You see Mortals along the way spending time speaking, laughing, shouting at one another. Now they seem as if another species to you. As if your Mortality was not ended only a few days prior.

The two strange being son either side continue to mouth words but the tempo of the music begins to slow and the chaotic gyrations slow to a smoother dance with more deliberate steps between partners. The music of the Bards slow as well.

Steeling himself against the strange influence of the two witches, Einar notes the subtle shifts in the music and the crowd that seemingly mirror the Prince's words. These folk are as alive as Vykos's hangers-on were dead - alive with their master's spirits. He reprimands this Morosini and they become more agitated; he is bemused by my awkwardness and they become more calm.
This Guilelmo acts a true monarch, expecting respect and subservience from those he rules. Let us see if I cannot show up my chaperone in this regard. Vykos may not want my connection to him known, but I dare not be caught out in a direct lie. Also, if the 'two others' the scholar spoke of are the two I'm meant to find, better to have the aid of those who know the city in the endeavor. Let their quest and mine be the same - and allow me to sabotage their efforts if needed.
Einar raises his eyes to look at the Prince's feet. "Your majesty, my heritage and my business in your city are connected, and of a delicate nature. Might I inform you of them in confidence?" He gives a meaningful sideways glance towards Bernardo.

Bernardo listens blandly not particularly caring one way or the other and then he speaks up when the North man speaks of privacy:
who cares what stray b+$@* had a puppy and left it to make a mess on anothers door. It is still a mess regardless. Prince of course protection of domain is every one's place and I do my part at your will. It becomes more when it leaves protection and becomes... Mess watching or mess clean up.

I knew of a Balli lurking there and requested aid and permission from Prince Narses to destroy it. Narses instead asked me to find someone to draw off the Hunters that had begun to enter his city and utilize them to destroy the fiend.
This was just as Elders began to arrive for the Conclave, That is how my Childe was selected, as an aide to draw the Hunters, mainly Inquisitors out of the city while the Conclave was held.
It may well be that they failed in their endeavor and the Baali returned here to attempt to slay us and perhaps he knew of Simon as well?
The picture is not entirely clear to me. However, Andrew and I will reach out to ascertain whether tha' Hunters ever returned. Andrew still has Mortal contacts that can be of such use
