Only thing worse than being 1st level, is being 1st level and being a barbarian about to be slain by a pair of cupie dolls. How's that for a reputation builder? Lol :-P

Rameth the Delver |

Rameth moves and attempts to smash a state w his club
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 for 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Azubah |

Azubah skirts around the edge of the chariot and takes up a position near Sumak. C3 Once there he glares at the statuette foe and yells "Aroden curse you!"
Misfortune (Ex): At 1st level, as an immediate action, you can force a creature within 30 feet to re-roll any one d20 roll that it has just made before the results of the roll are revealed. The creature must take the result of the re-roll, even if it is worse than the original roll. Once a creature has suffered from your misfortune, it cannot be the target of this revelation again for 1 day.

DMummy |

That ability is interesting for play by post, since as written it never works - the roll result is revealed before you can respond. You'll have to tell me when to invoke it, for now I think what I'll have to do is roll twice for the enemy and hide the second roll in a spoiler - you're on the honor system. If you don't mind, let me think about this Revelation in a pbp since it does become unwieldy at later levels, especially when trying to post from my phone! Does Misfortune have a time limit?
The statues are unfazed by the death of their comrade and continue to attack Dwalindor and Sumak, fixating only on the immediate targets.
Attack (C7): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Attack (C7): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Attack (B5): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Attack (B5): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Damage (C7): 1d3 ⇒ 21d3 ⇒ 2
B5 Damage
Damage (B5 Attack 1 - No Misfortune): 1d3 ⇒ 2
Damage (B5 Attack 1 - With Misfortune): 1d3 ⇒ 31d3 ⇒ 1
Damage (B5 Attack 2 - With Misfortune): 1d3 ⇒ 3

Azubah |

I think it only lasts for the round that it is used. Until you pointed it out, I completely lost sight of the fact that the re-roll option must be chosen before the results of the first roll are known. Your solution seems reasonable. In this case, Azubah reflexively goes with forcing the second roll; his faith in Aroden is unshakable.

Sumak Wonderfoot |

ATK: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
DAM: 1d4 ⇒ 4
ATK: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Sumak attacks the flying doll again, trying really hard to hit it with all his might.
Not sure what their AC is.

Rameth the Delver |

Map not working
Rameth two hands his club again 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 for 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Dwalindor dwarf axe, PA: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 1 = 5 for dmg: 1d10 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 = 13

DMummy |

Since Azubah forced the second roll, both Dwalindor and Sumak take 4 damage in the second round. These guys are way more deadly than I'd thought they'd be.
Sumak lands a hit on the tiny statue and it barely holds itself together, but manages to stab its spear deep into Sumak's leg.
The second statue fighting Dwalindor likewise lands a hefty blow, finding a gap in the scales covering the dwarf.
Neither Dwalindor nor Rameth manage to crush the annoying statues who seem to shift just the right way to avoid being destroyed.

Rameth the Delver |

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Rameth swings his club at a different angle at his foe.

DMummy |

Sorry for the absence, Mother's Day weekend has been pretty busy.
The last statue again tries to kill Dwalindor with its miniature spear.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
The statue fails to penetrate Dwalindor's armor this time - it's expressionless features give away nothing but you can see a form of irritation in its stance.

Rameth the Delver |

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Goin clubbing!

![]() |

Unless Albus destroyed it, Dwalindor will rage and try to smash the small statue again.
"Rarrrrrr! Now I am gonna smash you to broken chunks of stone!. "
Dwalindor dwarf axe, rage: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 2 = 16 damage : 1d10 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 = 7

Winded, the dwarf sits down, breathing hard and checking his two wounds.
"Stupid statues . "

Azubah |

"Is that is? Is it over?"
When he notices the wounds on Dwalindor, Azubah moves to his side. "Here, let me close your wounds through the power of Aroden." Azubah lays his hand on Dwalindor and intones a brief prayer to the Last Azlanti.

Rameth the Delver |

Well this club is terrible.
Rameth takes a look at what they find, perhaps the statues are worth something...

![]() |

Having recovered his breath, the dwarf will stand and slap Azubah on the shoulder.
"Ah, thanks Azubah. Those crazy statues were a pain that's fer sure. . "

"Angel Eyes" Albus |

I hope they were not worth much. Albus thinks looking at the ruin that is what is left of the dolls.
I found some arcane auras before everything went to hell. This shield here is magical. And there were also something by the diorama. Albus moves to the shield and tries to ID it.
Spellcast: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Not sure about this one, will have to try again later. He says scratching his head and after storing the shield moves to check the second aura near the diorama.
Can you try to id it Azubah? What is the second aura DM? You did not told me.

![]() |

Dwalindor's looks puzzled at some of the words.
"I had a case of that diorama once. Bad camel meat I think. Don't know anything about auras though."

DMummy |

The second aura was the tiny statues Albus!
Rameth, you appraise the masks in the hallway, solid gold representations of Anubis and Pharasma, as worth 75g a piece.
The magical shield is well made, and if you're not mistaken the khopesh and spear hanging on the wall are both still serviceable and masterwork-quality.
There are two chests in this small room as well, well made if not ornate, both sealed with wax.
If you open the chests
When searching the chests you find they contain a collection of papyrus scrolls and papers that appear mostly superficial correspondence (Linguistics DC 10 to determine the contents quickly). You believe a collector might pay up to 250 gold for the set.
You also find a sack with 100 gp and 42 sp struck in the style of the time.

Rameth the Delver |

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 linguistics as Rameth explores the chest as well
Now we are talking. Can anyone figure out what this does?

DMummy |

I was waiting for Sumak to pipe up, since he's also hurt, but he seems to be AWOL for the moment. So onto the next room!
The doors to the south are easily opened by Sumak and Rameth, and as you enter you see a massive mirror stretches across the southern wall of this chamber, flanked by two statues.
The statue to the east depicts a tall, gaunt woman in a flowing, hooded gown, holding an hourglass. The figure to the west is that of a jackal-headed man carrying a scepter or staff in his hand.
Stone double doors, standing slightly ajar, lead to the east and west. A third set of double doors exits the room to the north, where you came in from. Torch holders sculpted in the shape of bird skulls are built in each corner, and a thin layer of dust covers every surface.
Please let me know what you want to examine in this room, anyone who ranks in the skill can make a Survival check, otherwise you can attempt a Survival roll after making a DC 15 Perception check.

Rameth the Delver |

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 survival
Rameth tosses in his torch then draws a sharpened dagger along with his club and he enters and will examine the statues from a distance
1d20 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 7 + (1) = 11 religion

DMummy |

Survival
Religion - You can't quite identify the jackal-headed man but the tall, gaunt woman is a representation of Pharasma.
The mirror catches your attention, as you see yourself and your companions reflected in the mirror, along with a human male with bronzed skin, flowing white robes and a headdress reflected, staring at you with disapproval and condemnation.

Rameth the Delver |

Rameth whirls to make sure there isn't someone behind us.
So someone has been though that door...recently

![]() |

"Recently? You think more of them doll things? I hope not! "
Dwalindor will move up with axe ready if any statues jump out again.

Rameth the Delver |

So it would appear. I hope I am wrong.

Azubah |

"What is that?" Azubah turns to face the mirror and invokes the power of Aroden to reveal magical auras to him. Detect Magic

Azubah |

Azubah studies the shield and tries to determine the nature of its magical virtues but is unable to fathom it from this brief inspection.
