Dwalindor the Pahmet

Dwalindor finishes his ale and coffee with a belch.
Well? What are we waiting for?
| Thorrpe's Shadow |
And what is wrong with dark places? I happen to like them.
| DMummy |
The Dark Depository is filled with hidden knowledge not normally accessed by anyone outside the Church of Nethys.
Even then it has been years since anyone has entered.
The priests in the temple are angry at your accessing their holy libraries and refuse to give you any information regarding the interior but you can tell they don't necessarily expect you to come out of the Depository.
As you get to the room, a plain closet, with a locked iron hatch in the floor.
A burly priest with a thick beard pulls up the hatch after unlocking it and exposes a lightless shaft with a ladder embedded into the wall.
It is a long way down. I would not recommend using a torch, you will tire out your climbing arm too quickly.
He crosses his arms as he steps back.
When you wish to exit, knock on the hatch three times; then two times; then three times. We will have someone here to let you out.
Dwalindor the Pahmet
|
"Thanks, bud. Nice beard by the way. Noonan has our light covered. But I ain't too worried about it. We have expert researchers here. I am sure they will have us out of here before you know it."
Dwalindor volunteers to go first.

Dwalindor shakes his head at Noonan's suggestion.
Naw, I had enough of that back at the bath...wait, oh you mean for climbing? I guess, but what if one of you falls? I don't want to be dragged down with you. Hah
| Thorrpe's Shadow |
Shad casts mage armor on himself and takes up the rear.
I wonder what is down here, other than scrolls? he wonders...
Wait a minute Dwalindor, what was that about a rope?
Dwalindor the Pahmet
|
Dwalindor will produce a rope, but is not sure if it will reach the bottom of the stair.
Watch for loose ladder rungs.

You descend deep into the earth - Dwalindor realizes the pit is over 450 feet deep (no, not a typo)
A huge set of bronze double doors, featureless, is set into the eastern wall at the bottom of the shaft.
Dwalindor does not notice any traps in the shaft on the way down.
Dwalindor the Pahmet

Dwalindor approaches the doors with Lucy drawn then looks to see if they will open with a push or pull or if they are locked.

Dwalindor grips his hammer, ready to enter.

The door glimmers for brief second and then an explosion rips through the small space.

Roll Reflex DC 19 to halve the damage from a greater glyph of warding [blast glyph].
The door opens after you recover from the arcane blast; three short corridors slope down from the center of this cruciform chamber, each ending at a wall with a large, carved stone face — one frightened, one sad, and one angry. Tablets, statues, icons, and carvings cram the corridors. A fourth hallway leads west to another set of bronze double doors.

Sorry guys, the freaking rioters have been going at it again. I am so ticked at the media too. I thought they were supposed to report what the hell is really going on. Helicopters overhead, my kids scared, me stressed, but I will never willingly give up this game. Here we go.
Reflex with Evasion: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 11 + 1 = 21
1/4 or no damage?
The desert nomad had stood stunned and smoldering for a moment, but he was still very much alive.
"A word to the wise. . . It appears I may have missed a trap."
He absently swats out an ember on his hem while his eyes scan the next ten feet.
Search for traps: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24

"Which way next? <<<cough cough>>> Oh, that burns. <<<cough cough>>>"

Ouch. Hope everyone is ok. Remember Noonan channeled for 21 pointed healed.
Noonan points to the double doors to the west. These doors. I will see if there is an enchantment on them. Noonan mutters and casts Detect Magic

I second the hope you're OK!
Sorry, the doors are the ones you just opened that were trapped, apparently Paizo felt the need to describe them again.
You don't find any traps in the corridor, but Noonan's spell detects a faint aura of transmutation over a heap of bones sitting at the center of the intersection - particularly strong around a crocodile skull sitting on top of the pile. K11
As a note, if you want to take 20 and do aid another in here for Perception you can.

The dwarf looks back at Noonan.
Yeah, yeah. I saw the pile of bones. They looked ok to me.
Did you see something moving?
Dwalindor takes another look to see if he can tell more about it as he replaces Lucy with Amanda....just in case.

Dwalindor the Pahmet

Dwalindor nods to Shad and steps back as well.
| Tariq Ibn-Ziyad |
Still blackened from the door, Tariq moves back with the other two.
"All this and I don't even know that we are past the entryway, hah hah hah."
Dwalindor the Pahmet

Dwalindor takes one more step back and smiles, waiting for the boom.

Great Shad! Your fire just baked it into a larger bone cake!
With Amanda in hand, he steps forward 5' and rages with days of pent up research in libraries tearing at his fragile psyche.
