Upon a reexamination of the sarcophagi room you notice that one of the sarcophagi has been tampered with - it appears to be the sarcophagus of a man named Khnenti - a researcher whose sarcophagus is inscribed with symbols that warn the reader of the folly of researching into the pharaoh of the sky.

A speak with the dead spell would allow you to talk with the corpse of the researcher and learn something more.

Dwalindor, meanwhile, discovers two more doors - one leading north which you are certain leads into the sarcophagi room and the other leading south which could lead into the winding library room you just abandoned.

Roll one more Perception for me Dwalindor.

Nooman's lantern archons blast away but are unable to burn the creature.

Meanwhile the fire laps at the creature and weakens it enough that Tariq's shamshir cuts the bindings loose.

The creature collapses and leaves a pile of bandages on the floor - apparently animated purely by magic.

Inside the coffin you see another mummy, adorned the way you would expect an architect to be adorned for burial.

The creature you defeated was evidently stuffed into the coffin to try and kill anyone questioning the corpse.

You also see three iron tablets laid at his feet, covered with hieroglyphics you can't immediately read.
