Inikai |

When Inikai see the moldy rug he thinks back to books he read in the Academy about hazards found in places like this. But he cannot remember anything more than the fact that one should keep his distance from mold.
Can we continue through the room without coming within arm's reach of the mold?

Muchorak "Windstriker" |

I thought it was just the two at the far end of the table at what looks to be a table? If there are any closer, i.e. on the left or right that is the door he will approach.

Muchorak "Windstriker" |

its not that clear on the map there is a door on the north wall just before the fireplace one on the south wall beyond the stairs and two just beyond the point where the stain is.
The far end is dimly lit by stained glass windows you can't make out the subject from here due to the prevailing grime.
The north wall door before the fireplace then. :D

![]() |

Marak looks suspiciously at the moldy stain, suspecting that it grew in the blood of some decades-done deed of murder, and avoids stepping in it, as he follows the others.
A theatrical gesture, like that of a stage magician, causes his illusory torch to spring into his hand, from the haversack across his back, and he wedges its unlit length between pack and back, leaving the dancing ruddy false fire shining over his shoulder, so that he need not keep it in his hand.

Inikai |

The sight of Marak's prestidigitation reminds Inikai that they will need as much light as possible. To that end, he reaches into his own haversack and retieves his own torch and holds it in his left hand. If it comes to bloodshed, he decides that he will simply drop it and pick it up after the carnage. He is suprised by his own optimism in light of the fact that he is walking in a charnel house.

Romon |

Romon shakes his head and mutters, "What are the swells coming too? This stuff might have been worth something once, but it's all junk now."
The grime-muted stained glass does catch his eye. Might be something there. Glass doesn't go bad. Does it? Tssking softly as he dodges the blood stains, the thief glides smoothly down the hall toward the windows at the far end.
Trap sense, and quick stealth in play.

DM Wellard |

It's not a bloodstain it's some sort of mold
The begrimmed glass would probably be worth quite a lot to a collector the work is very fine and if you could get the window out and transport it safely to a city like Magnimar then you might make 500 gold per pane.
The subject matter is strange though.
Each panel shows a creature emerging from a box in a cloud off smoke. They include a humanoid like tree, a huge red and blue plumed bird of prey, some beast with the body of a lion and the upper body of a woman and a massive purple squid. Each one has a snarling expression on it's face.

Inikai |

Inikai looks at the stained glass panels and thinks of harrow cards. He is not able to divine any meaning in the pictures and decides to focus his attention on the here and now instead. At least there is no corn inside the house for the dead to hide in he thinks to himself.

Muchorak "Windstriker" |

Assuming Muchorak has arrived at the door without complications.
Muchorak arrives at the door slowly reaches for the handle then stops himself. No matter the discomfort here I must show resolve, I must focus the now. His mind full of thoughts and a will begging him to escape this horrid place, but his force of being and reminder of the task at hands keeps his will from breaking. Turning to Romon noticing his focus on the glass, "Romon could you pry yourself away to check this door please?" His unease in the place evident in his tone. Noticing Inikai also looking at the pane the Shoanti looks up, and being puzzled by it's imagery he turns his attention back to the door.

Romon |

"I'll say, " Romon agrees. Then whispers, "Big brother's calling. I must hie myself away."
He trots back toward Muchorak, "Hang on. I'll get it."
When he reaches the door he goes through the usual routine.

Having ensured that the door holds no hidden surprises Romon steps aside to give Muchorak free space to open it.

Alisebett |

As they other ready their lights Ali remembers that her fellow packmates do not see as well in the gloom as does she. Swiftly flowing to two-leg form she concentrates briefly and summons her 'floatly lights', something she had just always remembered being able to do. She done she instructs them to float over her companions and then smiles happily before dropping back into four leg form and continues to follow Big Bear.

Inikai sniffs audibly then abruptly turns. With a shouted curse of alarm he drops his torch to the floor, grasps his morningstar in both hands and summons his glass sattelite beside his head.

Have the others gone through the door as this happened? Is that why no one else is in the hallway with poor 'Icky'?

Inikai |

Inikai's sattelite flashes three times, each pulse sending a streak of light at the manticore in the hallway. As the sattelite attacks Inikai darts several steps to his left and takes up position beside Marak. The air arround him shimmers oddly as he runs.

"What what what?" Naria responds to Inikai's sudden outburst

Inikai |

Grimacing in pain and breathing heavily Inikai replies "That manticore, or statue ...or whatever it was attacked me. Its face became that of a screaming woman and then its tail cast fire at me." He stops and looks down at his hands, turning them over to examine them. The he pulls up the sleeves on his chain shirt and checks his arms. With extraordinary hesitation he touches the tip of his fingers to his face and instantly recoils as he makes contact.
"How badly am I burned?"

Muchorak "Windstriker" |

Muchorak looks at Inikai then at the statue. This place truly is foul. Certain now more than ever that they are in the right place for the cause of this unliving infestation. "When we are done here we should burn this place to the ground and let the fire cleanse the land."

Inikai |

Inikai turns back and forth to look at each of the others, as if attempting to answer all of their questions at once. He holds up both of his hands in a "wait a moment" gesture and pauses. "The stuffed manticore attacked me. It's face was that of a frightened woman and then the whole of caught fire and it leaped at me" he says, pointing at his face. "I can feel burning of my skin. No pain that I ever experienced compares it."
"How could you not have seen or heard it attack?"

DM Wellard |

The door creaks open and you find yourself looking into what was obviously once a finely appointed Music Room.
This oak-paneled chamber must have once been breathtaking, but is a sad sight now—the floorboards are warped with moisture and the paneling scratched and splotchy with mold. A once-magnificent crystal chandelier lies smashed on the floor, while frescoes depicting dancing scenes have been ruined by rot and are barely recognizable. A grand piano, its surface splotchy and keys warped, leans tiredly in the southeast corner

Muchorak "Windstriker" |

Not wanting to know what foul spirits may reside in this room Muchorak turns to the others, "Do you wish to search this room in detail or shall we move onto the doors down the hall?"

Alisebett |

At the sound of the explosion Aliwolf jumps and spins around, growling and ready to attack. As she sees the Manticore disinigrate under Icky's attack she relaxes. As the others question back and forth she looks in confusion from icky to them and back. At the end, she pads over to her pack mate and gives his leg a lick in camaraderie and to make sure he is alright. With everything seeming to be settled she quickly resumes her place beside Big Bear.

Romon |

Romon looks around the room and at the floor. What a dump.
He agrees with Inikai. "The next door?" He's already moving east down the hall. He stops to check the door on the north wall of the corridor.

As Aliwolf turns to follow the others a single crystal that had previously escaped the terminal descent to the floor chooses that moment to fall and by chance lands on the delapidated keyboard. At the surprisingly in tune single note the shaggy heard quickly turns back to look, ears pricked in curiosity. Never having seen a piano before the small gray wolf looks and smells carefully around the room and then slowly and cautiously moves to investigate it, carefully avoiding the broken crystal shards on the floor.

Sniffing around the legs of the thing Aliwolf finally makes her way up to the keyboard. Inhaling too deeply a small mound of dust enters her nostrels causing her to sneeze and her snount to plunk down on several more keys. Somewhat startled yet also delighted by the noise Aliwolf presses the bottom of her snout to several more keys, causing a discordant jamble. Her jaw open and tongue hanging out in a lupine laugh she is about to play some more when she realizes that her packmates have gone on without her, only Lunas looking on patiently from the door, his expression quizical and curious as her observes her antics. Her sense of pack duty overcoming her curiosity the wild druid quickly hurries back to her mates, nipping Lunas lightly on the shoulder as she passes as playful punishment for his silent mocking of her.

That is a great example of someone playing a character instead of just going through the motions with a set of attributes. Nicely done!
