Battle scarred is fine with me. How do you see this fitting in as the trouble? Systems, parts, and components breaking down? Cosmetic damage that hasn’t been fixed?
I liked the idea of being suspicious and yet the authorities never really having hard evidence against us to prosecute. That’s tension that I enjoyed playing with in my mind.

DM-Salsa |

Actually, battle-scarred would make for a pretty good aspect. WHat about Jury-Rigger's Ship for the trouble? You change one thing and it breaks ten others, kinda thing.
Or, how about Glitchy Systems? Everything is so tuned, customized, and jury-rigged that there's always some weird glitch.

DM-Salsa |

So, this is what we have so far, I believe.
High Concept: Slightly Radioactive Ex-Military Smuggler
Big Trouble: Glitchy Systems
Aspect 1: Battle-scarred
Aspect 2:
Aspect 3:
Now we just need the other two aspects and a stunt or two.
By the way, who wants to keep up with the ship?

Sirus Mechanicus |

*raises hand*
Duh. :P
Aspect ideas. Once again just throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks.
- Flies like a dancer
- Oversized engines (Look at me go!)
- Ridiculously solid construction (You took seventeen solid hits and bits weren't falling off yet!)
- Holds a small village (maybe literally)
- Harder to hit than a fly on speed (active targeting countermeasures?)
-
I'm still not 100% solid on how stunts actually work, so if others want to take that up I'd be grateful.

DM-Salsa |

H4X!: gain two free invocations on an aspect that you have applied after succeeding with style (Rolling 4 or more above the target number.)
Just an idea.

Also, your handle can be Kry0L0rd =]

DM-Salsa |

I can see it now...
Sirus: Why did you reroute the coolant pipes? I had them working flawlessly!
Aurora: I needed to cool my rig?
*Aurora points out the beastly machine in her quarters*
Sirus: I... Huh.
*Sirus isn't sure if he's impressed, proud, or mad.*

Something similar to Talk the Talk but with hackers.
Another idea: It Checks Out You get a +2 on Hacking rolls to make false identity documents, shipping manifests, port of origin, and the like.

DM-Salsa |

Um, finish the ship? Still need two aspects and a stunt or two. Unless you guys just want to call it good and add those in game.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I'd rather call it good and add those in game. We still don't actually know how the game plays, or what kind of things we would want when and how much of.
It seems right that a ship that is 'new to us' would have some surprises for us and we won't really "know" her until we've had her in action a bit.

DM-Salsa |

Well, I've got a bit of a busy weekend ahead, so I may not get the game started until Sunday night. I'll make sure I didn't miss anything then we'll get going if that's what everyone decides to do.

Tavid L.D. Rappertone |

I need help finalizing Tavid. I’m not sure how to account for his concept (Polyglot navigator) with skills. Tavid knows numerous languages (polyglot). Is that Lore? How is navigation accounted for? Is that Lore, Craft, or Drive?
As for his last stunt, I thought having a Zero-G stunt would be fun. Something that shows he’s highly practiced in moving, spinning, tumbling, etc. in microgravity environments. Should that be based on Athletics?

Sirus Mechanicus |

For polyglot, maybe a bonus to empathy or that other social skill. Maybe you reduce the difficulty of a social challenge only when dealing with a non-standard language?
A stunt could be, 3-D thinking: You are somehow more adept at multi-vectoral thinking than most people. I have no idea what that would translate to, mechanically.

Dr. Dax Newgen |

Zero-G Training: +2 to Create Advantage actions in a Zero Gravity environment with Athletics.
Polygot seems like an aspect permission to me. You should just be assumed to know a bunch of languages. If it comes down to it I'd personally rule it as Lore.
Navigation sounds like a create advantage roll using Lore or something to me. Gonna have to see how the GM wants to rule it on that one.

DM-Salsa |

Polyglot- You're assumed to know a lot of languages, if not at least a little of all of them. +2 Bonus to empathy, provoke, and rapport when dealing with a non-standard language.
Navigator- You know your way around a star chart or an orbital diagram, use Lore to create an advantage instead of Pilot when trying to plot a route.
I like what Dax and Sirus have come up with for the 3-d thinking.
Sorry for the silence, I was hanging out most of yesterday with a friend.

Tavid L.D. Rappertone |

Thanks for all the help and advice. Here are Tavid’s skills and stunts.
Skills
+4 Skill Lore
+3 Skills Empathy, Will
+2 Skills Fight, Contacts, Rapport
+1 Skills Pilot (Aircraft), Athletics, Physique, Deceive
Stunts
Grappler (Physique) +2 to Physique rolls made to create advantages on an enemy by wrestling or grappling with them.
Zero-G (Athletics) +2 to Create Advantage actions in a Zero Gravity environment with Athletics
Psychologist (Empathy) Once per session you can reduce someone else’s consequence by one level of severity (severe to moderate, moderate to mild, mild to nothing at all) by succeeding on an Empathy roll with a difficulty of Fair (+2) for a mild consequence, Good (+3) for moderate, or Great (+4) for severe. You need to talk with the person you’re treating for at least half an hour in order for them to receive the benefits of this stunt, and you can’t use it on yourself. (Normally, this roll would only start the recovery process, instead of changing the consequence level.)

DM-Salsa |

Looks good.
Sorry for the lack of getting this moving. I was busy this weekend, and today was almost a repeat of last Monday. That said, I will get this game going as soon as I can. I just need to sit down and get it done. I shouldn't have anything distracting me tomorrow night, so I'll be, hopefully, getting things going then.

DM-Salsa |

Can I ask a favor? Can all of you post you aspects, stunts and skills in your profiles? This will help me a lot. Thanks!

DM-Salsa |

No problem. I did get the game started, but it's not a big deal if we don't get started started until next week.

DM-Salsa |

Merry Christmas from the GM. As your present, I promise to not drive your characters to the brink of insanity. :D
