The one outlined in red is the vetala. It's a little hard to see since it's surrounding by other zombies though.
Carrakas makes short work of another two zombies, giving Marzela an opportunity to move forward unharmed.
@Marzela: I don't think the distraction actually does anything (see quote below)? I'm too tired to do any googling on it tonight though, so I'll resolve it tomorrow since two players still have their turn.
A creature with this ability can nauseate the creatures that it damages. Any living creature that takes damage from a creature with the distraction ability is nauseated for 1 round
Lily and Jaed still have actions

Jaed Zandorias |

Fort save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Close one... but Jaed will indeed fall unconscious if you keep rolling 4 Cha damage every time ;P
"Oh, sh..." Being surrounded by raised bodies is not a nice place to be. Jaed tries to stay calm and attacks the vetala.

Flaming sword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

A reminder now that Jaed is completely surrounded. Thanks to the "Improved Uncanny Dodge" feature he cannot be flanked except by a rogue of at least level 12.

DM Puppet Master |

Lily moves away as Jaed attacks the vetala. The form of the zombie falls down, leaving the figure of a ghostly woman looking largely unphased by Jaed's assault. She smiles and reaches out to touch the rogue. Her ghostly hand passes right through his armor as though it weren't there, and suddenly, Jaed starts to feel a lot older. His bones creak and there's a weariness to him, though his appearance doesn't change at all. Smiling sweetly, the ghost disappears into a different zombie corpse.

At the start of their turn, Marzela, Lily, and Jaed all suffer from the vetala's gaze attack, taking 2d10 ⇒ (8, 10) = 18 damage and Cha damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4 (DC 19 Fort save to negate Cha damage). And wow, those d4s really hate you guys
The zombies surrounding Jaed continue to try groan and try to slam into him, but all miss. The last two zombies then charge Carrakas and similarly miss.
Zombies vs Jaed: 6d20 ⇒ (8, 1, 5, 17, 8, 15) = 54

Marzela stops concentrating on the Raging Rubble spell as she is injured, but it continues for 2 additional rounds (yellow square):

Marzela moves and channels to harm undead again.
Channel: 6d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 1, 4, 2) = 16
The undead get a DC 18 Will save for half damage (area of spell is yellow circle).

Fort save vs. gaze attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Lily somehow resists the vetala's horrid presence. She releases another controlled necromantic wreath of complex power, a webwork of violet and black that surges through the zombies to force them into submission, before she backs away out of the range of the creature's terrible gaze.
Turn undead again, Will save DC 15. Then move.
So this creature can apparently raise corpses as zombies even after they are killed, then possess those corpses, and doesn't actually take damage when the corpse is destroyed. Meaning that we cannot defeat it, it is effectively immortal.

Are we sure there is no way to damage the vetala? If it's so, we'd better run. I'll try another attack now that there a no zombies around to see what happens.
The vetala's hand feels like nothing that Jaed's has felt before but he somehow knows that it could've been worse. Not afraid of the ghost he takes a step forward and attacks the zombie hosting it.

Marzela |

There has to be a way. As far as I know, magic still affects incorporeal creatures... just does half damage or something? But yeah... switching in and out of bodies ... don't know. But honestly, who would write a storyline with a completely unbeatable enemy? Would just make the story bad... so I'm guessing there is something we can do. Just not sure what.

DM Puppet Master |

Never said it's not doing any damage, but it's definitely not looking like it's not nearly as effective as normal. Also, it's not re-animating dead zombies. You're in an area with around a hundred dead bodies, so there are plenty of corpses for it to choose from.
Attack 1 vs Touch AC: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 17
Damage 1: 4d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 5, 1, 2) + 2 = 11
Attack 2 vs Touch AC: 1d20 + 15 - 5 ⇒ (20) + 15 - 5 = 30 Not going to roll to confirm because regular damage kills the zombie anyway
Damage 2: 4d6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 4, 1, 6) + 2 = 19
In a general show of bad luck, Carrakas only manages to kill one of the two zombies next to him while Jaed just barely kills the zombie housing the vetala.
The vetala smiles, once more reaching out the touch the rogue before flying upwards slightly. However, this time he seems to be expecting it and dodges out of the way.
Touch attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
At the beginning of their turns, Lily, Jaed, and Marzela once more suffer the effects of the vetala's gaze
Gaze attack damage: 2d10 ⇒ (1, 7) = 8
Cha damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4 Same deal, DC 19 Fort to negate Cha damage
The one, non-fleeing zombie tries to slam into Carrakas but bounces harmlessly off of his armor.
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Party is up. Vetala is curring not in a zombie body (but don't feel like finding a new icon) and floating 5 feet above the ground.

Marzela |

Fort Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Frustrated at the seeming ineffectiveness of her channelling, Marzela tries Holy Smite.
Holy Smite Damage: 4d8 ⇒ (8, 5, 7, 2) = 22
Text of spell HERE. DC 17 Will Save to reduce to half damage (and prevent blindness, but I don't think you can blind undead(?). Should be full damage if it is evil (half damage to neutral), and for DR it is magic and classified as a "good" spell, but it doesn't really specify a particular damage type other than holy, so unsure if it is force damage or what... anyway, if any of that matters I can try looking more for the damage type. I reduced the circle to 20 foot radius for this spell.
Before casting Marzela also calls out to warn Jaed, since she isn't sure he is good-aligned. She knows he might not come to much harm since he likely isn't evil either, but she wants to be sure he is ready, so he can move if he wants to.

DM Puppet Master |

Will DC 17: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
The vetala will use it's improved iron will ability to re-roll that.
Will DC 17: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Lily's spell goes wide as the vetala continues to grin widely at the group. While Marzela's spell does damage it, it still seems to be doing quite well.
Jaed and Carrakas still have actions. And if Jaed ends his turn next to the vetala, he will also be affected by Marzela's spell.

Jaed Zandorias |

Fort save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Jaed is neutral so, as DM said, he would be affected by the spell. And seeing that his attacks are not very effective and that he is becoming the least charismatic rogue in the world...
Tired and frustrated, Jaed moves away from the vetala to catch some breath.

Attack 1 vs Touch AC: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31

She launches another spell converted into a positive energy blast, this time scoring a hit.
Due to my Deathbane feature, this is treated as a maximized cure critical wounds. 40 positive energy damage, DC 23 Will save for half.

Jaed Zandorias |

"Thanks Marzela!" With renovated strength Jaed moves again next to the vetala, but not before closing his eyes. I suppose this counts as being blinded but there is no need to roll acrobatics to move faster than half speed because it's a DC 10 check.

Feeling strangely empty after the fight, Jaed simply nods to Lily's suggestion while he quietly looks around the corpses for some loot.

Marzela |

Marzela channels to heal people up again:
Channel: 6d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 2, 4, 2, 6) = 22
She also tries to remember if she knows anything about how to lay a Vetala to rest:
Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Unfortunately, it is hard to remember lessons learned so long ago at the temple and never used since.
She then says
To cure everyone the rest of the way, I will have to pray for spells that can restore our abilities. Perhaps we should retreat to the village again for now. As Lily said, we need to ask them if they know how to remove this threat permanently, and it would be unwise to continue in our weakened state. What do you all think?

DM Puppet Master |

A profession roll from Lily would also be appropriate for figuring out proper burial rites.
Jaed's cursory glance does not reveal anything of value on the nearby corpses. Many of the bodies seem to be for rather humble, villager-type bodies. If they ever possessed items of value, they were surely already removed before being unceremoniously dumped in this mass grave.

DM Puppet Master |

It's been a few days, so I'm just going to roll for Lily.
Profession: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28
Feel free to read the spoiler. Then decide what you all want to do.

Marzela |

Find the original body... wow. Well, might as well get this over with. We can't let that thing return to life.
Marzela thinks about what the vetala looked like, sighs, and begins to methodically look through the corpses, looking for similarity, and working to keep track of the ones they have already looked though.
Perception: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (16) + 21 = 37

DM Puppet Master |

It takes about an hour of shifting and sorting through disgusting, rotted, smelly corpses, but eventually the group is able to find a body that looks like the ghost fought earlier under a pile of other bodies. Oddly, it's not nearly as decomposed as the remains around it. A quick search of the body reveals a wooden disc with an open palm on it, which Lily immediately recognizes as a symbol of god Irori. She recalls a prayer to the god of perfection that she believes will set the spirit to rest and begins to solemnly recite it. When she's done, there's a moment where it looks like nothing has happened. Then before your eyes, the body starts to decompose until nothing is left of it save dust.
The group then retreats out of the valley to rest and recuperate. Nothing of note happens during this time, and they wake up refreshed and ready to continue their journey.
Go ahead and do any healing or cast any spells you want to before continuing onwards.

Marzela |

In the morning, Marzela has prepared spells to eliminate the damage that the Vetala did to them.
I have Restoration and Lesser Restoration prepared. Restoration is stronger and heals it all, but I can only cast it three times, and I can cast Lesser Restoration (heals 1-4 points) four times. So, it just depends on how much CHA damage everyone has... I am down by 5, looks like Jaed is down by 8. Last posted looks like Carrakas is down by 3? How much are you down, Lily?

DM Puppet Master |

Remember that resting 8 hours heals 1 point of ability damage per ability. So while Carrakas had 3 Cha damage at the end of the battle, he only has 2 now. Also, I've PM'ed his player to see if he's still playing.
Once you've dealt with your healing, I'll go ahead and move things forward.

Marzela |

Zamanda just casts Restoration on Lily as well, and then casts Lesser Restoration on Carrakas:
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Twice. :)
Took 300 gold off my sheet. Hoping that is okay for the diamond dust requirement. I figure we either retcon that I bought some, or we fast forward through spending several days here (?) Whichever the DM prefers.

DM Puppet Master |

I'm fine with just deducting the gold. Asking people to keep track of actual components they have on them is too tedious.
Having rested at an odd hour, the group continues on through the night, feeling much prettier than they were earlier. Near dawn you find the path dead-ending at a steeply sloping cliff face on the western side of one of the tall mountains. The cliff is roughly 900 feet tall.
As most of your group searches around the base of the cliff for secret doors or passages, Carrakas uses his climb speed to quickly scale the cliff face. After a few minutes, he jumps off the top, allowing his constant feather fall to take him safely to the ground.
"Nothing much of note except there's a decent sized crack about half-way up. I'm guessing that leads to the cult's HQ."
One by one, he ferries you all up. You find yourselves on a barren ledge set into the jagged stone of the cliff face. It provides a magnificent view out across the rocky foothills. At the rear of the cavity, two basalt pillars guard the entrance to a dark, narrow opening that leads inward into the depths of the mountain. The pillars and the lintel of the entrance both have twisted runes carved into them.
In addition to anything else you want to do, please specify a marching order. I'm guessing Carrakas is going either first or second. Map is on the first slide.

Marzela |

Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Suggestion for single-file marching order: Jaed (can scout), Carrakas (to protect), Lily (so she isn't last in case something sneaks up, and can still see to cast), and then me (because I am a long-range fighter and healer anyway, and if something sneaks up better me than Lily). ... But totally open if people have other ideas. If we were expecting undead it might be different, but I am hoping that last fight isn't typical.

Jaed Zandorias |

That order sounds good to me.
Linguistics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Jaed looks at the runes and he notices that they probably are Vudrani symbols. With Marzela's help they translate them: they describe annihilation, darkness, and the unknown, as well as verses from Dhalavei's holy texts.
"Not a nice welcome. I suppose all these cults like to scare people away," he says before carefully leading the group into the mountain.
Jaed will keep an eye for traps along the way.
Perception (trapfinding): 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (20) + 21 = 41

DM Puppet Master |

You already know the vetala came back as a vengeful ghost because she wasn't given the proper funeral rites when she died. Which is to say, the cult didn't animate her.
Among the various Vudrani runes on the pillars, Jaed manages to spot two rune traps and attempts to disable them after indicating that everyone else should step back.
Trap 1, DC 30: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34
Trap 2, DC 28: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20
He manages to disarm the symbol of pain trap, but the the foreign language makes it harder for him to disable the glyph of warding, and there's a very loud explosion.
Sonic damage: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 6, 3, 5) = 22 DC 18 Reflex save for Jaed to negate
In single file, the group squeezes through the narrow stone passage. After not too long, the rough, natural rock gives way to smooth, paved stone. Bright orange flames illuminate a sharp turn in the worked passage. The flames issue from the upraised claws of a carved, two- headed gargoyle statue that squats in the corner. Each head stares down a different passage.
The worked stone hallway quickly widens to be 10 feet wide and the group quietly moves forward. You all go around a couple of bends before you reach a short hallway ending in a thick, full-length black curtain. Slight gaps around the edges of the curtain show a faint radiance, indicating there's light on the other side of it.

Jaed Zandorias |

I forgot to update Jaed's character sheet in myth-weavers. The correct disable device modifier is 20. Sorry about that. I will roll the reflex save as a punishment :)
Reflex save: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 12 + 2 = 25 Last +2 comes from Danger Sense.
Jaed realizes that the second trap just in time to move away and cover his ears. "That's their doorbell, I suppose."
Once near the curtain, he waits for Marzela's fine hearing to catch any noises. If she does not hear anything the rogue will, very carefully, peek around the curtain.
Stealth: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (6) + 16 = 22
