As Bastion opens the door, you are greeted with the sight of the gargoyle that fled and this creature...
It looks up at you, eyes full of hatred, and says in the common tongue "You must be what this weak statue told me of. Surrender or become one of my ghouls." Finishing that sentence...he reaches out and grabs the gargoyle by the throat, flexes, and crushes the neck.

Arc will cast a DC 19 glitterdust onto the thing trying to blind it on his turn.

DM Pendin Fust |

Travelling for an interview, please everyone roll init. Arc, you know that this creature is half demonic, a half-nabasu to be specific. You also know this particular one is dedicated to some demonic deity...
Nulkineth Init: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Arcessentes |

Good luck!
Init: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22 That thing is a fiend, a half-nabasu if I am not mistaken. I recommend cold iron weapons on general principle. You can be sure it is quite dangerous. He then uses a mythic point to cast what is in effect a heightened Glitterdust to try to blind it. DC19 Will save or blind. No SR. If blinded he may try to re-save each round. After casting he will move back 30' to try to get out of range and line of sight for whatever it might have in store for the group.
Not sure what specifically he might know about this thing's offenses and defenses. Note a full Nabasu would be quite a challenge for a level 4 party. I recommend we treat this like a boss fight. :)

Got the job! Hooray for employment!
Group Alpha - Arc, Nulkineth
Group Beta - Cassandra, Paritosh, Bastion

Nulkineth roars as the sparkling motes attack his sight. He spreads his bat-like wings and rockets upwards 60 feet, while spewing forth something in a profane sounding language.
"Ghouls! Defend me while I regain my sight!"
Suddenly, several feral shrieks come from all around the doorways in the courtyard.

I'm not interested in charging and tanking my AC, ghouls can be nasty, but I will use this surge thingy!

Cassandra Coté |

Cassandra casts Burst of Radiance, nailing Nulkineth with her magic.
I'd prefer to delay my action until after him because there is little point overlapping blind rounds. Besides, in an area this big, and in the position we are all in, there's not much I can actually do atm.[/ooc[
[ooc]DC 16 Reflex Save. If they fail it, they are blinded for 1d4 rounds, and if they make it, they are dazzled for 1d4 rounds.

Arc moves up behind Sir bastion and touches him using Diviner's Fortune, giving him a +2 insight bonus on all attacks, skill checks ability checks and saves for 1 round.

DM Pendin Fust |

So Arc brought up some good points, and after a little discussion I'm going with his thoughts. Nulkineth is only 30 ft in the air using a full-round action to fly up while blinded. If that changes anyone's action let me know and I'll accommodate.
Will Save #2 vs. Glitterdust: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21 Ok, no longer blinded.
Nulkineth ponders for a brief moment then points to some mossy green outgrowth on the ground. Suddenly, all sounds stop, an implosion of quietness permeates the air.
Reflex to avoid Cassandra's spell: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 2 = 4 and blinded again!
Group Beta PC's then the ghouls.

DM Pendin Fust |

Yeah, Arc blinded him, then he saved on his 2nd round, then Cassandra just blinded him.

Sir Bastion |

Spellcraft to identify spell: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Sir Bastion moves toward the ghouls to the south, trying to find the edge of the silence effect. When not found right way, he readies himself for the ghouls attack.

Sir Bastion |

Some how I was outside of the silence area on the map. I placed Sir Bastion back within the silence at the position I had moved earlier.

DM Pendin Fust |

Okie dokie folks! Back home! So I think I'm waiting for everyone to have a go. Nulkineth is blind and hovering.

Sir Bastion continues to move forward, seeking the edge of the silence. Finding it he calls to his goddess to grant her divine favor upon him.

Arc moves down to support Bastion. A single move gets him out of the silence and he begins a summoning spell.
I want to point out that at 4th level there not a real way for any of us to be able to fly. The game tries to make it so that you have to be 5th level in order to have any chance to fly. This is one of the impacts to being lower level than the encounter planned for. I am not complaining, only pointing out that there is really no chance that any of us could fly. Arc has almost no spells that can effect the demon. He will do what he can.

DM Pendin Fust |

You are correct Arc, but the encounter itself is still only hard as opposed to deadly. I can think of a few tactics that will force the flying guy to be vulnerable to attacks...
Paritosh mows down yet another ghoul.
The second ghoul swipes at him.
