Nice move, Josef! I drew a pit of sorts and made the green one small, to show it had fallen oh-so-far-down!

Rikar hurries forward toward the remaining plant monster, positioning himself at some distance from it to avoid falling in Josef's acidic pit and sweeping at its legs with his mighty scythe!

Move in, attack with Lunge to avoid ending my turn adjacent to the pit. That puts my AC at 22.

Snarling a bit in frustration that, once again, she can't get behind her prey to take it down, Latys moves quickly along with Rikar. She keeps well away from the pit, biting at the shambling mound! Her distaste for muddy plant parts, however, causes her to miss.

Misha whimsically decides to cast grease underneath the shambling mound who is not in a pit. If she's lucky, maybe it will fall in the direction of the sloped sides of the pit Josef created.

The angry lettuce dislikes being coated in salad oil, and falls over. It is now prone. Up to the DM if it's in danger of sliding into the pit next to it. I think at the end of its turn it has to check?

If so, that's what she'll do. If not, then she probably won't know it won't work, so she does it anyway.

IIRC, the pit is already something like DC 30 to climb out due to slipperiness. Not saying it's not worth it to make it harder, but it's already pretty hard even with the mound's Strength bonus.

Josef decides to try a more reliable tactic, and creates a pit under one of the shambling mounds, and watches with satisfaction as it slides down into the pit. Rikar and Latys move up, and the cat growls in frustration as it cannot move behind the mound, and also misses its attack. Rikar lunges at the creature and wounds it. Therena casts force missiles at the creature, damaging it. Telman shoots arrows at the visible mound, wounding it badly.

The creature stands up, but fails again to keep its footing and falls down again, luckily for it, not into the pit. The mound in the pit tries to climb out, but fails.

Wearing the plant creatures down, a little at a time, the one in the pit takes some acid damage and the other takes some force damage from Josef. Rikar and Latys, combine to savagely wound the creature, as Therena gives Telman a bit of luck. Misha casts a spell on Rikar, which will help him with his attacks, and Telman finishes off the creature that is not in the pit.

The creature in the pit tries to climb out, but slides back into the acid.

Grand daughter is back with her parents. Nana and I got a good nights sleep (almost 12 hours) so back to PbP.....

With the only mound still in the pit, the archers, now including Therena have relatively easy shots and after a few rounds of firing the creature slumps to the bottom of the pit and dies. When the spell expires and the remains are brought to ground level, you search the remains of the plant creatures, and find another of the stone tables, almost identical to the other one. As you hold them near each other, an edge on each one glows ever so slightly and putting the edges together the tables fuse together, and now there is one twenty inch wide tablet. Searching the rest of the area, mundanely and magically turns up nothing of interest.

Following the right hand rule, you move slightly back up the corridor and looking south, see another are of vegetation.

Rikar grins and rolls his eyes in amusement at the new reconnaissance method the party seems to have adopted, though his expression turns serious as he awaits the results of Therena's rock toss.

Rikar and Latys step up and significantly wound the groups left. Misha figures the warriors can handle these creatures, like the other pairs and stands by, ready to cast cures if needed. Telman uses his cold arrows, and Therena luck, to wound the creature that Rikar and Latys wounded. Josef adds some damage to the total.

Both of the creatures slam Rikar hard, doing the ranger some significant damage.

Rikar grunts as the plant-creatures slam him over and over, then looks over his shoulder at Misha and says with a grin, "Too good for fightin' plants, are you? Leave it to the fella with the big grass-cutter to do all the trimming, fine!" He then sweeps his scythe back and forth, cutting down the badly injured monster and hacking once into the other!

Rikar swings his scythe wickedly, killing the wounded mound, and then swings and wounds the other. Latys bounds around the remaining mound, and even though it tries to slam the cat, it misses. Misha, keeping just out of range, provides some healing to the wounded ranger. Josef fires two arrows, hitting it once, while Therena fires a gob of sticky stuff at it, and the creature is entangled.

Even entangled, the plant creature slams Rikar hard with both tentacles.
