Also, let me explain...Jametor doesn't think you are cheating him in any way, he just knows you are sneaky and stuff. He is just bantering with you and the fireball is in no way a threat, just explaining that sometimes he will place fire with big explosions right next to you in order to do maximum damage to the enemy, while not hurting you.

As a player, I fully adhere to the tenet that the mage who drops the AOE on his group is the mage the group is looking to replace.

Jametor - I'm pondering magic items to buy with my cheese funds. Did you really spend 4500 gp on your wand of levitate? I forgot it was a second level spell, making it quite expensive.

I don't think I'll spring for that - so what other wands might I consider? I have mage armor and infernal healing. Shield, perhaps?

That was a drop, there have been a couple of times where we've needed a spell that we didn't have, so I think some timely drops have happened.

Mage armor for me is a 6 hour duration, next level it's 7, so it's almost like cast it in the morning and be done with it. Not sure that's really worth a wand. Shield might be, since it's kinda situational and it might allow Njord to spend his herbs on something other than shield, if he can.

I am leaving work right now, so let me look at what other folks say are good wand options.

To be fair, opting for noqual fullplate isn’t that much of an advantage since it still requires 25 pounds of noqual (which would otherwise be worth 2500 gold if sold raw).

Let's do what's most fair. I have no ideas what the payout is going to be so, I haven't spent anything. I am really looking at some other spell like chain lightning too, so I can have more variety. I know the optimized blaster wizard is fireball all the time, with more fireball for added fun, but I think shooting laser...err lighting from my hand would be fun. Unless you can get me a shark with lasers on its head.

Asht'el is also 7th now, will get it into alias later today. Picked Spell Penetration, plus Improved Initiative for bloodline feat (init bonus is now +9, will be dropping those stinking clouds on the baddies before anyone can move!).

after looking it over, 1d5 healing a few times a day would be nice, but I think I am going to stay with the dragon. Having more spells is really nice and we can give the dragon a wand or ten. She might be able to use the clw wand some too.

Yeah, sorry about that. It just didn't seem in Asht'el's character to hang with an assassin, even if she's hawt. She could continue to blackmail him, though, threatening to tell his father that he's still alive if he doesn't do stuff for her. Or maybe she's not as bad as she seems, and he finds her rescuing a puppy or something, and learns that she's been forced into the business in some way, and together they can attempt to resolve her problem, since she helped solve his problem. He could rescue the hawt assassin from her tortured fate! Or he could hear that she's in some trouble - even though he doesn't respect what she does, she gave him a chance to live instead of just killing him, and threw his father off the scent, which means a lot to him.

Those all sound like fun to me. I'll think about other potential links. For the most part, he's been on his own since he came to Riddleport, just working to get by and not making close connections with anyone. Now he's happy to have this gang to hang with, the Goblin to live in, and some fun adventures behind him - even if he got recruited to be an assassin in the process.

You could take Eldritch Heritage (Arcane), which is how I got Prickles.
