Round Three
Keeping his defenses up, Harlan turns the skeleton as he shifts around, and it loses track of Maeve. With a sure kick, she takes advantage of the opening and crushes the foe's spine. It crumbles apart.
Malnival charges back to help Heng and Parity, and with a swift strike, knocks the skull completely off his target. Another skeleton falls apart.
Parity and Heng team up on the remaining undead, unfortunately, neither of them can land a blow as the skeleton dodges and weaves, using faintly remembered Tian techniques (more misses). The skeleton spins and claws again, drawing deep red lines down Parity's arm. With a groan, Parity falls.
A clatter of bones and armor signals the approach of two more skeletons from the west passage.

Maeve blinks as she hears the approaching sound. "Okay, is that nine or ten skeletons so far, I lost count." With that, she spins around and begins dancing, right into the water, seeming to glide through it as easily as air...
Standard action to cast Feather Step, then move to slide into position flanking with Heng. Swift for Arcane Strike, no attack this round.

Round Four
Harlan scuttles away from the approaching skeletons and bathes the area in a aura of healing energy. Groaning, Parity retrieves his falcata and stands up.
As Maeve moves a few steps away to stand by Heng, Malnival rushes forward and launches a glob of acid at the first skeleton, burning away pieces of armor and bone.
Heng finally lands a solid blow on the remaining foe, caving in its ribcage with a solid crunch, and it falls apart around his fist.
The two skeletons skitter from the passage, both moving to attack Malnival from flanks. The magus expertly dodges and parries, spoiling the undead assault. (misses)

I had really intended to end up in the water opposite Heng on the Skeleton (hence casting a spell to move through what was likely difficult terrain) but oh well.
Maeve continues her quick movements, concentrating and trying to dodge past one of the skeletons as she moves behind them to end up between the pair before attacking herself.

Round Five
Malnival swings his mace in a two-handed arc, but the skeleton hops aside at the last moment, missing by an inch. Maeve moves in, rolling in low with a quick somersault, but her follow-up strike is off-balance. The skeleton's eyes glitter with imagined mockery.
Bolstered by Harlan's healing, Parity grits his teeth and charges into the fray. With a powerful, imbued slash, Parity cleaves through the bones and broken armor, destroying the undead foe.
Heng runs in to help against the last remaining skeleton (assumed target change), and felling it with a powerful chop to the back. A loud crack echoes in the cavern and the skeleton falls apart.

Maeve Haela |

After a few moments to be sure there are no more coming, Maeve smiles. "Everyone okay? Right, then. I think we don't have much more to go. We should probably hurry. Whoever sent those last two was probably trying to slow us up."

Harlan Starshine |

"Does anyone else require healing before we advance farther?"
I think only Parity is still injured, so I'll CLW him unless we need other then I'll channel. Oh sweet wand of CLW how I crave thee so.

Maeve Haela |

Maeve grins, retrieving the coin. "Right. Did we ever figure out the ship thing?" She shrugs on another moment's reflection. "Can't be that important. Not a big ship, can't be too many boney guys from it left."

After he catches his breath, Parity touches the wound on his neck, wincing at the pain. He mutters thanks to Harlan for the healing and then responds to Maeve's query.
"We were sort of interupted, Maeve, but I think your analysis is a good one. The vessel ... merchant or war? A merchant vessel would probably have a minimum number of crew members to sail. I'd guess around 20ish. But a war vessel could have easily twice that number if it were carrying soldiers. Thoughts?"
Either way, he follows Heng.

Maeve Haela |

"Right, I knew that. But the numbers are still important because that's how many skeletons were still here. And I don't think. it would have been practical for someone to bring more in from somewhere else, so whoever's doing this we're just about done with their guards. I don't think a merchant ship would have wanted too many extra guards on board, and we've gone through nine skeletons so far. Or was it ten, I still lost count." Maeve speaks in a rush of words.
"Okay, focus, let's get going,"
And with comments like that, it would serve me right for there to be a Zombie Apocalypse around the next corner.

DM NomadSage |

The narrow passage bends to the north and cuts through the wet stone for about thirty feet before opening into a larger, final cave. The eastern wall is bordered by a dark pool, rippling circles criss-crossing its surface as drops fall from the jagged ceiling. On the far end of the cave, a skeleton dressed in high quality but badly aged Tian armor sits motionless atop a large chest made of jade and cherry wood.

Maeve Haela |

"...do we have a great deal that will work at a distance?" Maeve points out. "Sorry to say, all I've got is my two fists that will work, Heng seems to be lacking in options that way, not sure about Parity being able to hit something that isn't two feet in front of him, no offense." She pauses. "Harlan, do you have anything aside from that crossbow? I've done a little practice with knives, maybe I can toss something like that at him."

Harlan Starshine |

"What now? I have...hey, look at that. I usually only use it on the chili, I forgot I had this! Honestly though, don't think it'd do much against a skeleton, wouldn't it just go between his ribs? Besides, maybe he can hear us."
Harlan limps forward a few feet.
"Greetings oh wise and terrible skeleton! We come to you bearing good news. We have arrived here to release you from your suffering and allow you to pass into the grace that has been denied you. Answer us and tell us how to grant you peace!"

Harlan Starshine |

Maeve Haela |

"Good point." Maeve sighs. "Okay, should have thought of this, didn't. I'll just get ready for when he inevitably charges us."

You could put an eye out with this thing.

DM NomadSage |

As expected, almost as soon as Malnival's acid glob hits the skeleton, its eye sockets flare red and it springs into action. The undead draws an ornate curved blade, untouched by age or rust, from between its yellowed ribs. It points a finger at Malnival and whispers words of a foreign tongue, before moving to attack.
