Vors Orcblood |

"Ya damn right we can!" The half-orc said ethusiastically.
Pulling out his holy symbol, which now has an actual purpose, Vors channel energy into the undead beast.
Channel energy: 1d6 ⇒ 4 Will save 10 for 1/2 dmg.

DM Nex |

A splash of white energy rushes out of the half-orc.
Will Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
The creature seems to resist some of the energy, but parts of it's decaying body start to turn to dust.
The creature lets out 2 dripping wings from its back, jerking with motion as its lampray mouth rushes forward toward Bethany
Bite: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (1) + 16 = 17 Oooh boy, nat 1
By some divine luck the creature's mouth gets flashed by Vor's energy and misses Bethany.
Round 2
Brynn, Bethany, Grilnik, Vors, Verik <- All PCs are up
Creature
It is so stupid that channel does not heal and hurt in the same round.. I know its there for balance, it just seems weird. 5e at least separates what the 'channels' can do, which makes more sense

Bullseye Brynn |

I don't mind.
Brynn circles around the fight, trying to get a clear view of the enemy past her 'companions.'
Double move.

Bethany Carpenter |

Bethany takes a step to the side, eyes cold but a smile on her lips. Big Brother flashes over her head as both of her feet leave the ground in an attempt to crush the creature.
Earthbreaker: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 1 = 16
Damage: 2d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4, 6) + 3 + 1 = 14
Rage / Magic Weapon

Grilnik Urist |

I'd also appreciate it if Clerics were even more OP xD
@Vors: don't forget to add CHA mod to saves for Channel :D
You get DC12 :D
I'm the one with DC10+1-1 Dx
Grilnik moves closer, hoping that a closer source could be more potent. He Presents his holy symbol of Kurgess, and holy light pours out.
Channel Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 1 DC 10 Will to halve damage

DM Nex |

Just for fun.. It's going to be 1 damage either way
Will Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 Success. 1 Damage goes though (half damage)
As Brynn circles around the fray, Bethany swings Big Brother down onto the creature, causing some cracks to appear on its outer casing.
Grilnik's splash of energy washes over the creature, dusting more of its body.
Round 2
Brynn, Bethany, Grilnik, Vors, Verik <- The Vs are left
Creature
I just wanted to make sure you all know, when there are names in a block you can go in any order. It might just be coincidence but you all keep going in the same order as I am listing

Grilnik Urist |

Oh, hey neat. That's the second time xD

Vors Orcblood |

"Second verse, same as the first!"
Channel energy: 1d6 ⇒ 5 Will save 12 for half.

Verik Skintail |

Verik lifts the oil vial and chucks it at the spider, the rag sticking out of it lit aflame.
Attack(splash weapon: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Randomly landing: 1d8 ⇒ 3
Light chance (High 50): 1d100 ⇒ 88
The vial flies wide, but still manages to break and light aflame.(splash damage is 1)

Verik Skintail |

Make a move action to move twenty feet, then take a -5 to the attack, still getting the miss but splash anyways. Range increments only imply a -1 per increment. And I'm sure I would have missed anyways, if I do anything else it is useless, Illusionist kinda suck against mindless and undead creatures... this works best for me because now I'm closer, and if the spider decides to charge me(it can't most likely, still too far)then it gets within range of my useful spells/abilities

DM Nex |

I moved you forward a little. Sorry about the undead, and your level, meaning you don't have a lot you can do. Going forward you will have much more options available to you.
For ease and to help out a bit, I am going to say that the vial of oil didn't explode right on Bethany. But the creature and Bethany should take 1 damage from the splash.
The creature's wings quiver a bit, while it's lampray mouth juts out of its body to strike at Bethany again.
Bite: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (9) + 16 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
This time the mouth clamps down, with razor teeth around the circular mouth, right into Bethany's side.
Round 3
Brynn, Bethany, Grilnik, Vors, Verik <- All PCs are up!
Creature

Verik Skintail |

Verik, wishing he had prepared better spells this morning, fires a beam if ice at the undead, unsure if it would even work.
Well, if we where mentor be lvl 5 here I would have fireballed this sucker a long time ago
Attack(ranged touch-into melee: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 - 4 = 20
Spell Crit confirm: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 4 = 2 -_-
Damage (Cold): 1d4 ⇒ 1-_-
Verik fires and hits with Marksman percision, but the spell doesn't seem to like that and he might have well just thrown a snowball.

Bullseye Brynn |

Despite her better judgement, Brynn moves forward, closer to the massive monster. She tosses her vial of holy water at it, hoping for the best.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 = 12
Damage: 2d4 + 1 ⇒ (3, 3) + 1 = 7

Vors Orcblood |

"For Cayden's sake, leave Bethany alone!"
Channel energy: 1d6 ⇒ 5 Will save 12 for half.

DM Nex |

The vial of holy water splashes on the creature, its necrotic flesh begins to smoke as it melts away with the holy water.
Will Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 Success. 2 damage.
The wave of holy energy bursts, again, from Vors. The creature seems to resist portions of the damage.
Round 3
[b]Brynn[/s],, Bethany Grilnik, Vors, Verik <- PCs are up!
Creature

Grilnik Urist |

Isn't it our other favorite B up next? *whistles*
Grilnik runs up near the zombie spider, opposite Bethany, and swings his Longhammer.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 + 1 = 9
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 2) + 3 = 11

Bethany Carpenter |

Though her clenches smile Bethany mumbles.
"Stop biting me. Your nasty!"
and brings her hammer around again at the creature.
Earthbreaker: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 1 + 2 = 12
Damage: 2d6 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (3, 3) + 5 + 1 = 12
"Crap!"
Holy weapon and flanking

DM Nex |

The creature mindlessly continues its attack on Bethany.
Bite: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31
Damage: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20 Ouch!
Pretty sure this brings you down to -5. Sorry, thank goodness for no sudden barbarian death sydrome with unchained
Round 3
Brynn, Bethany Grilnik, Vors, Verik <- All PCs are up!
Creature

Grilnik Urist |

BTW: if the surprise round counts against the 4 remaining rounds, then Bless is done, otherwise this is the last round with +1 attack & please add one to these attack rolls xD
Oh sh*ve my beard
"Beth!" Grilnik looks from the zombie to Beth and back again; with a grimace, he removes the vial of holy water from his bandolier and tosses it at the beast.
Attack (Ranged Touch): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
I don't think an 8 is enough to hit, so I'd like to point out that I'm aiming for the square closest to Grilnik, so a 5, 6, or 7 on a d8 would still hit on a square it occupies... I'll let DM Nex roll it so it doesn't seem like I picked the spot to match the roll xD
Holy Water Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5 or 1 if it misses
Attack of Opportunity!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 I hope it charges, lol
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 4) + 3 = 13

Vors Orcblood |

"Cayden's bucket!" Vors cursed. "That f#<king does it!"
Vors advances wielding his rapier, striking deep with the creature..
Rapier: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Confirming: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 S#!T!
Dmg.: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

DM Nex |

Splash attack: 1d8 ⇒ 8
The splash of holy water hits the creature, burning some of its skin with the smell of a the sweet scent of the dead.
As Vors takes a stab forward and thrusts with his rapier. It strikes, but the hard outer shell of the creature seems to resist most of the damage.
With Verik noting it before, and enough of you have attacked it. You would notice it has DR/Slashing. Might want to pull out some of the slashing weapons, if you have them..
Round 3
Brynn, Bethany Grilnik, Vors, Verik <- All PCs are up!
Creature

Verik Skintail |

Verik, with only one trick left up his sleeve if this didn't work, didn't want to leave his allies behind... Especially since they had all been so nice to him. He growls and pulls out a vial if oil, not bothering to get it ready he tosses it in hopes of dousing the Zombie in oil
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
And he manages to fumble the bottle, not hardly even throwing it...
Random square: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Break chance: 1d100 ⇒ 87
Ment to cover a square with oil then set it on for next round...
The vial breaks, covering the floor with oil.

Bethany Carpenter |

Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 Failed need DC15
Bethany falls prone bleeding.

Bullseye Brynn |

Seeing Bethany fall unconscious, Brynn looks serious. She draws another holy water and throws it at the monster.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 9
Damage: 2d4 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3) + 1 = 6

DM Nex |

Based on the Random square and the large creature, the top right square of the creature is now covered with oil from Verik. So even though you missed you got it worked out
Now assuming Brynn was aiming for the bottom left, and 1 is the bottom square:
Random square: 1d8 ⇒ 7 hits the bottom right square!
Verik tosses a vial of oil, while it misses the head of the creature, the back part of its thorax gets splashed with combustable oil!
Brynn tosses a vial of holy water, she overshoots the creature slightly, but it strikes one of its large legs breaking over the leg and melting down. It's sinewy muscles are visible constricting as it movies.
Turning from Bethany's body it's mouth launches itself straight at Vors.
Bite: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (1) + 16 = 17 OMG Another nat 1..
Even with the large mouth pushing toward Vors, the holy water destroys some of the muscle in its leg, which causes it to stumble a little. It's mouth hitting the floor in front of Vors.
Round 4
Brynn, Bethany Grilnik, Vors, Verik <- All PCs are up!
Creature

Grilnik Urist |

lol, it's nat 1 or we get another K.O. xD
Also, neat~! Grilnik can move 30' to flank w/ Vors :D
Grilnik runs around the creature to take advantage of it turning its attention towards Vors. He stops suddenly, pouring his momentum into a wide hammer stroke.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 = 13 Aaaand probably swinging wide, lol
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3) + 3 = 8

Bethany Carpenter |

Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Bethany stabilizes but still lays there being lazy.

Bullseye Brynn |

Brynn shoots a sneer at the healers' backs.
She's unconscious and they're fighting instead of tending her? Again?
She shakes her head.
Jerks.
Brynn draws her last vial of holy water and lobs it at the enemy.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 22
Damage: 2d4 + 1 ⇒ (3, 2) + 1 = 6

Vors Orcblood |

If Grilnik is able to swing his hammer, I will assume the creature is flanked.
Vors, seeing the 'sweet spot' on the creature in front of him, drops his rapier, draws his mithral dagger, but the creature shutters away slightly, ruining the strike.
Mithral Dagger (flanked): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 = 11

Grilnik Urist |

two nat 1s for the zombie spider, and a bunch of under 10s for us xD

Verik Skintail |

Verik makes sure he's close enough, moving 20 ft closer before wispering a spell. Snapping his fingers he sends a spark flyng at the spider. Although it is harmless to the spider, it isn't so harmless to the oil...
I don't know what type of save this would be, I'm attempting to light tho oil, as the spark spell allows me to ignite one flammable within range, but I don't know if the spider would get a save to avoid the damage fro. The fire on it's back...

DM Nex |

Brynn's Holy oil strikes the creature, burning more of its flesh.
Vors and Grilnik's attacks miss the smoking creature.
Fire Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4.
The oil coating the back of this creature gets set aflame. The oil has had a chance to seep into the cracks and holes from this battle. When the flame catches the fire seems to flare up inside the the cavities where the creature's strange organs would be.
The strange mouth starts to open, aiming toward Vors. With a pop of fire the creature falls to the floor. Any undead nature to the creature has dissipated.
Congrats! You guys do what you have to. I assume you are healing people. :-)
In this room there are 4, seemly, locked chests. 3 of them are smaller and one is over twice the size of the others. The large one is of very fine manufacture.

Vors Orcblood |

Vors slides down next to Bethany and casts one of his few healing spells, hoping he's not too late.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Bethany Carpenter |

Bethany's eyes flutter open when the healing energies pass through her.
"Not yet mom....."
her eyes snap all the way open and she begins to struggle up glaring at the spider thing while she picks up her hammer.
"What was that thing? I want to add it to the list of things I hate."

Vors Orcblood |

"Take it easy", Vors suggests.
"Hopefully once more audda' do it."
Vors hold his holy symbol once more and hits everyone with a channel energy.
Channel Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Bullseye Brynn |

She's alive? Good.
Brynn keeps er distance from the undead menace, waiting for the others to be ready before following them over to the chests.
She keeps any eye out for other dangers while she waits.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 1

Verik Skintail |

Verik sighs, going to retrieve his dropped Crossbow. Ugh, we almost bit off more than we can chew!He said. Next time, hopefully, I'll have a spell capable of blasting one of those things to Ash... he sighs.

Bethany Carpenter |

"Thanks Vos. Still wounded but that helped. Glad that is as far as the caves goes, wait it is right?"
I thought I was going to bite it there. Nice to still be kicking.

Vors Orcblood |

Vors walks over to the chests and examines them to see if they are locked.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Bethany Carpenter |

While the others are examining the chests Bethany casually stands by the creature and not so gently rests Big Borther on its corpse just to be sure it doesn't move.

DM Nex |

As Vors takes a good look at the chests he can see that they are all locked.
The 3 smaller ones look to have a similar key that would open them. Along with the key, there also seems to be some sort of abjuration on it to assist the locks themselves.
The larger chest has a much more intricate locking mechanism. It also has some sort abjuration enhancing the lock itself. This box looks like it would require a different key than the other 3.
Neither box looks to be trapped, from what you can tell.

Grilnik Urist |

Grilnik likewise presents his holy symbol, pouring holy healing energies onto everyone.
Channel Energy (Heal living): 1d6 ⇒ 6
Then he uses the last of his healing magic for the day on Bethany.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
"Good question. I'll have a look around while Vors takes a look at those chests."
Grilnik walks around the cave within 60' of the edge (yay darkvision!) to make sure there isn't anywhere to go except where they came in.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10 I'm guessing that anything non-obvious in the cave counts as 'unusual stone work' for my racial +2

Vors Orcblood |

"Well, it looks like all three chests are similar: good locks with adjuration magic, although one appears to have a more complex lock and magic on it", reports Vors. "Not sure if I can open these. Maybe Desna will feel bad enough for Bethany for us to find the key somewhere in this mess."
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Bullseye Brynn |

Brynn looks around for the key.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 20

Bethany Carpenter |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Leaving Big Brother balanced on the corpse Bethany searches the area with the others.
"Key. Key? Key! I'm alive so come out come out or we will just take the boxes and you will be all alone forever. Don't you want to be with your friend the lock?"
She might still be getting herself together.

Verik Skintail |

Verik sighs, Might be I'll have to go get Regis>.. he says, referring to the mule.
As fir the locks, nothing Nim sure time won't b able to fix... Oh! he takes out the multitool and arranges it into a saw. Might this help? I mean, unless they are packed full I'm sure that we shouldn't damage the contents.
