As you make your way to the summit you come across a group of large nests, these nests contain the broken remains of large eggs as well as the skeletal remains of small and midsize animals, mostly fish.

Knowledge Nature DC 18:
These eggs belong to Pteranodons, flying reptiles related to dinosaurs. They guard their nests fiercely.

Suny and Noro hear the flapping of oversized wings before the howling wind of the mountain gives way to a large SCREEEECH.
Large winged reptiles have spotted your incursion on their breeding grounds. With a fierce motherly instinct these reptiles swoop down. The cover you sought in the trees prevents them from swooping right on top of you. They must land to fight.

Dimitrious blends into the shadows of the foliage, unseen and unnoticed by any of the combatants.

Noro's elbow to the birds head was enough to put it down. The light blue bird slumps to the ground with a thud.

Barely managing to get through the light green bird's legs while avoiding a snap, Angus delivers a punishing blow with his great sword, deeply wounding and angering the bird.

I PM'd Pegleg yesterday and gave him to the end of the day today to get a post in. His character seems cool but it has been a while sense we heard from him. If he is unable to join us one of the birds is going to carry him away. If he is able to join us later maybe his character will have survived, if not then maybe the bird ate him.

Suny's cunning plan. Round 2:
Using her invisibility and stealth Suny will spend a round working her way behind the purple Pteranodon. Or as 'behind' the critter as she can get given the terrain.

Then! Make a grapple/CMB check to jump on its back!

CMB/Grapple check:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 (Plus stealth/surprise)

Hoping her sudden appearance and yell of "Buckle up beaky! Yer goin' fer a ride!" is enough to scare it off.

Then acrobatics and a second vanishing trick to disappear off its back as it takes flight so she can then move to scare off another one.

Acrobatics:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14(+4 to jump)

'Vanishing trick' is a swift action.

I am sad to see that he could not make it. I will have one of the Pteranodons carry him off to fates yet undermined.

I don't think it is unfair, what is more important is whether or not the party is balanced in terms of power. You do a bit more damage than Noro but Noro has a better to hit. Noro also has some good combat manuevers. Dimitrious is able to add significantly to a fight via his spells (such as haste) and is the party's ranged guy as well (Magic missile). Suny is a happy go lucky little acrobat who puts herself in flanking and comes up with crazy/cool ideas of what to use her actions on. It's not so much that a build is unfair but more that team work (haste/flank) managed to allow the team to deal a lot of damage. This fight was kind of a warm up, don't worry too much. There is plenty on this island to challenge you guys.

The Pteranodons dress similarly to chickens. Just much much larger, and without the feathers. Angus is able to dress a good bit of meat.

For those looking through the nests. In addition to finding 12 Pteranodon eggs, you also find one nest that holds the remains of a prior victim—a castaway who washed ashore far too weak to defend himself against the pteranodons. They tore him to pieces and carried his remains back to the aerie to feed their young. A finger bone from his right hand still wears a ring.

(I forgots how many Pteranodons made it away.)

Sunny makes sure that one of the nests is left intact for the returning parents even as she helps look for things.

"There be no need ta' be killin' everything on'a island." She points out.

"If'n we leave stuff ta' be growin' back we can be makin' shine of it fer later, like." She explains her rather more long term ideas. She looks to Dim,

"Is a ring shiny? Or extra shiny?" She asks/wonders.

When using detect magic or identify to learn the properties of magic items, you can only attempt to ascertain the properties of an individual item once per day.

So unless you are camping out for 20 days we have to roll. I assume we are not hanging out on the mountain for 20 days ;)

Spellcraft for Dimitrious: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18 Of course..., we'll have to try again the next day.

@Suny, only one Pteranodon made it away, carrying Peg Leg off to parts/fate unknown.

What is the plan guys/gals?

After a few moments of staring sadly off in the direction the large bird flew away in.... Suny bounces about to Dim's question with a bright and cheery,

"Aye!" And she looks about for interesting things to see and more interesting places to go. (^_^)

It was getting dark, are you pressing on during the night or taking a rest, if so what are you watches if any? If you decide to sleep, are you sleeping on the ground or did someone bring a tent?

Angus cooks supper and volunteers for the first watch after he sets up his hammock.

Anyone who wakes up during the first watch:

You can hear Angus singing softly to himself. Though the language is strange, the songs he sings are mostly somber, even mournful.

Suny scours the undergrowth around the campsite first (Making sure there aren't any bug nests about etc)

I was going to have some insects take some bites out of you, but the hammocks got you off the ground, so we will pass on the bug bites.

Morning comes and with it a beautiful sunrise. The Pteranodon that flew off has not yet returned. The Pteranodons taste decent and with some good spices may make a pretty good meal.

Now that you are refreshed, what's the plan.
