Sorry about the delay, it's been a weird week

Runt emerges into the rain from his hiding spot he eyes the slain goblins sadly, "That's about half the tribe. That was Birdcatcher, and Firerat..." he sniffs sadly, "Thought they would of helped against Chief for sure. Chief is probably hiding in his hut, I'll show you the way." Runt climbs a ladder onto the walkway connecting the huts and limps along toward a hut in the rear of the village.

I'll get the hut's description later, I'm at work and away from my copy of the AP

"I'm sorry," Daichi says, feeling a small surge of pity for the little goblin. Even such a creature should not have to watch his friends struck down.

"As am I," Rishana agrees quietly. "They fought well."

For goblins, anyway.

"Why did they choose to side with the Chief?" she asks as the group moves to follow Runt towards the Chief's hut.


Runt shrugs in answer to Rishana's question, his eyes filled with melancholy.

The chief's hut stands on stilts a bit higher than the other huts, only the watchtowers are higher. It's an irregularly shaped building twenty five feet on a side. The walkway entrance is on the north side but the ramshackle door is barred, the door slats are clearly large enough to admit a short sword through them. A ladder extends up to the south side of the building, Runt points it out, "That's the secret escape route." Opposite to the entrance to the hut is a charred and broken building that Runt looks longingly at.

Daichi notices Runt's look, but doesn't say anything for the moment. "Another friend perhaps?" They have to focus on dealing with the chief first and foremost. "Yes, very secret. Perhaps we should have two groups. One to go through the front and one to go in through the 'secret' route so that the chief can't run away."

"Good idea, Daichi. Leo, Rishana, Senga, and I will go through the front door. I think I can slip my katana through and lift the bar blocking the door. While we're attacking through the front, the rest of you will go through the secret entrance, and flank them. This should confuse and disorient them. The moment I lift the bar on the door, Leo kicks the door in, and that's the signal to attack them. Let's get this party started," Derric said with a sly smile grin on his muzzle.

He waited a bit to see if anyone else had anything to say in case someone had a better plan.

Runt thinks a moment, "Probably three and the chief, calls them his 'guard'"

"Is it wise to send three of us who are less... physically inclined in the back alone? I'm reasonably capable with a dagger, but I'm not certain I can keep Jayna and Kiko safe on my own."

"Either I or Rishana and Senga could provide cover in back. If I have to kick in the front door, that leaves Rishana - what do you think?" says Leo, looking to her and her big cat.

Derric thought for a moment.

"You have a point Daichi. I'm not sure who should go with who then. I do know we should hurry before the chieftain escapes or worse, intimidates the other goblins to get back in line and follow him once more. If that happens, we are done for."

The kitsune still was cautious and wary about the goblins helping them slay the goblin chieftain.

"Senga and I will approach from behind with the others," Rishana offers after weighing their options. "If they try to run, they will not be expecting such a group to be waiting for them. And if they fight, they still will not be expecting more of us from behind them."

"Then either Kiko or Jayna should go with the group going through the front. That way neither group is too outnumbered and we have someone capable of supporting the more martial minded of our group with both teams."

"Then it's settled. Are we all in agreement with the plan?"

Kitsune readied himself to use his katana to lift the bar blocking the door.

Derric slipped his katana through the cracks in the door and began lifting the bar keeping the door lock.

"Alright, Leo get ready to kick down the door," the kitsune whispered as he lifted the bar with his sword.

"Now!"

The samurai shouted as soon as the bar was lifted!

Daichi moves around to the back entrance, checking to see if it's locked or barred by anything.

As Leo, Jayna, and Derric move up to the front door of the dwelling Rishana and Senga quickly follow Daichi around to the back. The huntress motions over her shoulder for Kiko to follow them as well. As she moves, Rishana attempts to be as quiet as possible in order to aid in the surprise.

"One moment, please." As Kiko says that she steps into the middle of the group. "May the True Spark guide the way and lead us to salvation." She sort of curtsies while speaking her blessing.

"Now we're ready."

Leo, Derric, and Jayna ready themselves to assualt through the front door as Daichi, Kiko, and Rishana prepare at the back. The rear entrance appears to be unbarred and unlocked. When Derric lifts the bar on the front and Leo kicks the door open an angry shout is given in goblin and a feathered shaft flys out.

Sticking neatly into Leo's upraised shield. In the darkness of the hut four dark shapes prepare to sell their lives dearly.

The goblins knew someone was out there due to the battle earlier and so got ready. Init order is Daichi and Derric, followed by the chief, then Jayna, Leo, and Rishana. Goblins are up afterwards. Last up is Kiko. After this fight I may try a different method for Init

Hearing the group in front making their move, Daichi throws the rear entrance open, hesitating a moment to see where in the room the entrance would place his group.

Derric readies his katana, preparing himself to stop any enemy advance.

Derric is now readied against any enemy approaching him or trying to get past him. If they do try, he'll interrupt their movement and he'll be able to attack them.


Daichi opens the door into a small closet, barely five feet on a side. He sees two doors, one directly in front of him and another to his right. Judging from the shape of the building the door in front likely leads to where his allies are fighting the goblin chief.

"I can work with this." Daichi kicks the second door open as well, allowing the rest of his allies to push inside.

Daichi kicks the second door open and nearly sends a goblin to the ground. The vicious little creature recovers itself however. The chief is spooked to have opponents coming from his 'secret' door but draws his bow back and sends two shots at Leo, rage filling his eyes.

Rapid shot: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 251d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 51d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

The arrows fly true and strike Leodegrance in the chest.

Looks like 10 damage to Leo, Jayna, Leo, and Rishana are up. One goblin is at the back door, two up front, chief in the center with his bow.

Jayna sees the arrows hit Leo and wants to fling a magic at the little creature, but she has a better idea. She touches the hilt of Leo's weapon with her Cold Steel ability. His weapon suddenly radiates cold.

Bottom line Leo has a Frost weapon for one round. Additional 1d6 cold damage.

As Leo collapses to the ground, Rishana quickly realizes that they aren't dealing with a typical goblin. "Senga, whakaeke!" she calls, tipping her head at the closest goblin before taking aim at the chief with her bow.

Attack vs. Chieftain (Longbow; Bless, PB Shot): 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 9
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8

The above is based on the assumption that Rishana has room to fire her bow without getting smacked by the goblin near the back door. If that's not the case then she'll take a 5 foot step back, drop her bow as a free action and then draw her longspear.

Now having a taste for goblin blood, Senga readily leaps into the fray against the closest goblin in a flurry of teeth and claws.

Oof, my combat dice have had it out for me across 4 or 5 games the past few days ;_;


The goblins rally following their chief's success with his bow. The one at the rear twists aside from Senga's teeth and delivers a return blow with his short sword.

He snarls as the cat ducks the blow. The two goblins in the front of the building pile into Derric. His readied blow falls...

Derric attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
crit damage: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 6 = 13

and opens the goblin from shoulder to hip. The final goblin shouts as his ally falls and thrusts his blade forward at Derric.

But in his anger swings wide.

Kiko bot: Murderous Command on the chief

Kiko speaks in arcane language and the chief's head is filled with terrible buzzing, he fumbles an arrow momentarily as he struggles but he shakes off the haze and nocks the projectile.

Daichi sees the chief ready to open fire on the party and decides to simply get to the heart of the matter. He clenches his fist, raising a large chunk of earth from the ground through the door behind him, then punches straight forward, firing the blast straight at the chief's head.

Derric swings his sword at the remaining goblin in front of him, striking the monster with both steel and icy magic.


Daichi's blast connects with the chief, just. Chief Gutwad takes the blow in the back of his head and reels, a flow of blood trickling down.

Derric's blow floors the goblin warrior who sinks to the ground, frost covering his open wound.

Derric may take his 5ft step to move in and threaten the chief if he wants.

The chief looks up at Derric with hate in his eyes. Casting his bow aside he pulls a blade from his belt and lunges. "Die dog-humie thing."

Jayna pulls out her potion of cure light wounds and pours it into Leo's mouth and down his throat.

Rishana's shot goes wide, narrowly missing Derric as the chief ducks the arrow. Senga is far more successful in her endeavor and takes the last of the goblin bodyguards down, he screams for a moment as the feline predator bears him down before a sickening crunch sounds and the goblin goes limp in Senga's jaws. Jayna's administrations revive Leodegrance, his eyes fluttering open as the arrows in him are forced out by the healing magic.

Kiko's up.

Kiko fires her sling at the chief, sending a bullet toward his head.
